Saedachi is the het ship between Sae Niijima and Tohru Adachi from the Persona fandom.
Canon[]
Since the pair appear in different entries of the Persona series (Niijima and Adachi being from Persona 5 and Persona 4 respectively), they never have actually met to begin with. It is however confirmed that the two games share a universe to some extent: interacting with Leblanc's TV on certain days can have Naoto Shirogane from Persona 4 directly referenced by name, or an unnamed criminal being interrogated for murders that largely resemble Adachi's serial murders. There was never any interactions between the two, despite of the two games sharing the same universe. This is because Persona 4 was released at 2008, and for Persona 5 to be released in 2016. Sae would be younger at the timeline of Persona 4, and Adachi would be older at the timeline of Persona 5.
Fanon[]
Despite of having a very few people in social medias having acknowledging this ship, it wasn't very well recognized for awhile since the release of Persona 5. While there are AO3 fanfictions depicting a relationship between the two, the ship saw its real spark as a mere joke by the users of the subreddit OkBuddyPersona, where several fanfiction were shared within the subreddit itself. It was spread by one user posting this, and a few days later, many people started to post memes and fanart about this ship, and became a divisive ship whether it's an unironic ship to be passionate about, or just a ridiculous ship just for the sake of trollish posting for OKBP.
Saedachi as a ship has received much controversy in the Persona 5 fandom as many Persona 5 fans see this ship as nothing more than a crack ship. r/Persona5 had a huge history of disliking r/OkBuddyPersona as they were frequently mocked for doing stuff like posting kinkymation's artworks a porn artist, or other weird stuff like shiping charts or down bad posts. It also gained infamy from r/PERSoNA, as it was proven by seeing the comments of Saedachi media such as fanart and memes, as they associate Adachi with his history at Persona 4, leading for the ship to gain backlash and hate at the idea of this ship. And later in June, due to shipping posts spreading at OKBP and that people claim that it isn't Okaybuddyretard themed, the mods had officially banned crackships including Saedachi a few before it was unbanned due to the amount of downvotes from the confirmation of Saedachi being banned from OKBP.
People who don't support this ship often cite Adachi's sexist behavior as the main reason. They think that he would treat Niijima poorly and could lead to an abusive relationship. Many believe that Adachi's anti-social behavior prevents him from having a positive romantic relationship. But some ship the shadow versions of the two. In this situation, Niijima takes on a more dominant role within the relationship.
Often in fics the possible romantic relationship is portrayed in a positive light and that it is beneficial for both parties. It helps Adachi out of his nihilistic worldview and gives Sae extra support. How Sae's sister Makoto reacts to the relationship is also often brought up. She usually reacts negatively to the relationship and develops a mutually antagonistic relationship with Adachi.
