Saint Seiya (Sometimes translated as Knights of the Zodiac) is a manga written and illustrated by Masami Kurumada with an anime adaption made by studio Toei Animation.
Plot[]
Saint Seiya tells the story of young warriors known as "Saints" who are empowered by mystical armors called "Cloths" to protect the goddess Athena and defend the Earth against evil forces. The main character, Seiya, along with his friends, embarks on epic adventures, facing powerful enemies and engaging in intense battles to save the world. The series is known for its compelling characters, dynamic action scenes, and themes of friendship, honor, and sacrifice.
Saint Seiya has spawned numerous spinoffs, including sequels, prequels, and alternate universes. These spinoffs explore different aspects of the Saint Seiya universe, introducing new characters, storylines, and mythologies while still maintaining the core themes of the series. Fanon[]
Saint Seiya is a series with a huge fanbase in Asia, Europe and South America. However, the series was never big or well known in English-speaking countries. This results in a bigger amount of fanworks in languages other than English. The Saint Seiya fandom started back in the eighties, with fans creating doujinshis (one of the most popular series in 1987 and 1988 Comkiet along with Captain Tsubasa). Due to the big amout of good-looking male characters, the series was always popular among BL shippers.
