SalesHun is the slash ship between The Salesman and Seong Gi-hun from the Squid Game fandom.
Canon[]
Season 1[]
In 2020, Gi-hun and The Salesman meet each other at the train station. The Salesman asks Gi-hun to give him an opportunity, but Gi-hun feels uncomfortable with this and points his lighter gun at him, causing the Salesman to panic. Then, The Salesman quickly composes himself and invites Gi-hun to play Ddakji with him. The winner will receive ₩100,000. Hearing this, Gi-hun reluctantly agrees to play.
Gi-hun loses the first round but The Salesman succeeds. The Salesman asks if Gi-hun has any money, but Gi-hun refuses and is slapped in the face as a substitute to pay for the ₩100,000. Gi-hun decides to keep playing but continues to lose, getting slapped in the face multiple times until he finally wins. Gi-hun tries to get revenge by slapping The Salesman, but The Salesman blocks him and hands him the prize money.
He then offered Gi-hun a chance to participate in the 33rd Squid Game but Gi-hun was doubtful. The Salesman then revealed that he knew about Gi-hun's debts to banks and loan sharks and reminded him as a way to persuade him. When Gi-hun asked how he knew this information, The Salesman gave him a business card and asked him to call soon as there weren't many spots left and exited the subway station. Gi-hun eventually decided to accept The Salesman's chance to participate in the games and called the number. The Salesman picked up the phone and asked Gi-hun, "Who's calling? Do you wish to participate in the game? If you wish to play, please state your name and birthdate." Gi-hun told The Salesman his name and birthdate, and by doing so, officially began his participation in the games, being taken to the island shortly thereafter.
One year later, Gi-hun (who had won the 33rd Squid Game), was about to board a plane to reunite with his daughter. However, he saw The Salesman playing Ddakji with someone at a subway station. The Salesman noticed Gi-hun watching and smirked before handing the other person a business card and leaving. Gi-hun rushed after him but couldn’t catch him as The Salesman boarded a departing train, waving goodbye.
Season 2[]
Three years later, Gi-hun is still relentlessly searching for The Salesman. He continues working with his former loan shark Kim Jeong-rae, and his lackeys (along with his friend Choi Woo-seok) to track down The Salesman, financing them with large sums of cash for their work. Thanks to Kim and Choi’s report, they manage to locate The Salesman, but they soon lose contact with him. Gi-hun sets out to find them, unaware that The Salesman is watching him from a high-rise building.
The Salesman later confronts Gi-hun at his place, where he expresses his curiosity in how Gi-hun was able to win the Squid Games before. Gi-hun then retaliates by insulting The Salesman, calling him a dog to the Squid Games' workers. Angered, The Salesman explains his needs of sacrifices to achieve his place; initially working at the Games, The Salesman encountered his father, to which he killed without remorse. Having gained the trust, The Salesman was hired as the recruiter and given a revolver, and then explains his vision of the poor people, as useless scum and trash. The Salesman then uses his revolver for another game of Russian Roulette. However, feeling Gi-hun to be very special, the former applies a rule to which the chamber is not rotated each round, meaning the chances of survival decrease every time.
Both Gi-hun and The Salesman survive twice, during which he sadistically toys with him by smiling unsettlingly and slowly placing the gun in his mouth. Before Gi-hun shoots the fifth round (leaving him only a 50% chance of surviving), The Salesman taunts Gi-hun, baiting him to cheat and shoot The Salesman instead, but noting this will only show that Gi-hun knows he's "trash" and not at all special as he doesn't trust in fate, and only survived the games because he got lucky. Gi-hun doesn't take the bait and puts the gun to his own head, and to The Salesman's shock survives when Gi-hun pulls the trigger. Gi-hun then repeats The Salesman's words to him, challenging him to cheat and shoot Gi-hun dead, saying this will only show that The Salesman was a mere lapdog to those that host the callous Squid Games. The Salesman, apparently shaken by these words, shoots himself and dies instantly.
Fanon[]
This ship is somewhat popular in the fandom and has gained more recognition since the release of Season 2. One of the main reasons as to why this ship sailed was because of The Salesman slapping Gi-hun, as it caused people to deem the player as "pathetic-looking". People also just enjoyed the way he was slapped and the absurdity of the entire scene. The Salesman's words to Gi-hun that he can pay using this body is also one of the reasons as to why this ship had so much "interesting" fanwork to begin with, as his phrase to the player also gets mentioned a lot and jokes are made about it quite often. Since Season 2's release, the fanwork hasn't stopped and their Russian Roulette scene became even bigger of a reason to ship the two. Their dialogue has been the main cause of the resurgence of the ship as Gi-hun calls The Salesman "a dog" in their conversation.
Since the slap scene, it was always often liked for its more spicy content in the fanbase to which said spiciness grants the sizable amount of fancontent for the ship. Since the release of Season 1, alongside the release of Season 2, it added more noteworthy screen time between the two which expanded the fancontent more due to the rising popularity. With Gi-hun calling The Salesman "their filthy dog", referring to the higher-ups at Squid Game, this prompted some to make "certain" fancontent in regard to that. This also also prompted some Juncruiter and Frontsales shippers to do the same as well.
Around 2021 a well known SalesHun shipper back in the day was Widedoggy who would make gacha club videos of the two, usually these videos would get a lot of views. But as of today their videos for the ship are now unavailable.
Before Season 2 was out, the ship only had around 50 works but despite that one of their fics is also one of the fanfics for Squid Game with the most hits/kudos. SalesHun shippers often like 457 and Sangihun as well. SalesHun is also common to be found mentioned in various types of posts on social media, whether or not said people who mention the ship actually ships the two or not. The two are also involved in Gihun's Harem in which Gi-hun is the main focus while he has other suitors try to get him.
The ship is also commonly referred to as Ddakhun as well, usually alongside the name SalesHun.
SalesHun has over 145+ fics on AO3. It's the most popular ship for The Salesman while it's Gi-hun's forth most popular ship. It can be considered a rival ship to Sangihun and 457 on Gi-hun's side, which can also be seem in fanart containing the three ships all together. On the Salesman's side, Juncruiter could be considered as a rival ship to SalesHun.

Trivia[]
- The ship name Ddakhun comes from mixing the word Ddakji, the game the two play at the station, and Gi-hun's name.
- The ship names RecruitedHorse and SalesHorse comes from the Salesman/Recruiters name and Gi-hun being compared to a horse, as well as him gambling on horse-races.
