- “I know, your heart is bursting with gratitude... but there's no need to thank me. We have what I'd like to call a "fiscal friendship." If the money's right, not a problem in sight!”
- — Sampo, To Rot or to Burn
SamCae is the slash ship between Sampo Koski and Caelus from the Honkai: Star Rail fandom.

Caelus is a Trailblazer who is traveling with the Astral Express crew across the universe. Sampo Koski is a businessman who lives on the planet Jarilo-VI and is a member of the Masked Fools. Throughout their several interactions, Sampo occasionally helped Caelus while also tricking him.
Trailblaze Mission[]
After Caelus and his friends Dan Heng and March 7th discover a guy hidden in a snowdrift, Sampo and Caelus meet in the cold plains of Jarilo-VI. Before Dan Heng pulls him out of the snow, Caelus smirks at him while attempting to hold his breath so as not to be detected.
As "humanity's last bastion against the Eternal Freeze," Belobog is where Sampo offers to guide travelers too. But as they come across the Silvermane guards, Sampo vanishes from sight, leaving the three of them—including Caelus, evidenced by the fact that he later had to remind himself about it—with a bitter taste.
Throughout the Jarilo-VI arc, Sampo shows ambiguous actions. He uses sleeping gas to free the main characters from Bronya, but not before causing chaos by transporting him to the Underworld. He offers to guide the group to Svarog, but as soon as they succeed in opening the Robot Settlement gates, he vanishes. At a crucial point, he seeks Natasha's assistance, although he repeatedly suggests that it's really a business issue. Caelus' opinion of Sampo, that varies from unfavorable to favorable based on dialogue options, cannot help but be affected by all of this.
Several mission descriptions say that Caelus sometimes feels like beating Sampo because of his madness. March observes that despite this and a lack of many openly positive dialogue choices for Sampo, Caelus finds him entertaining.
Sampo can be brought up in conversations several times without any particular reason by Caelus, which confuses the other person around him. This indicates that he is interested in Sampo. In the Jarilo arc finale, Sampo showed his interest in the Astral Express crew and said he found them to be quite of fun. He indicates it with his visit on the Loufu and his presumable appearance in the Curio Hacker occurrence in the Simulated Universe.
Caelus had a "ominous" dream in which the 4th wall break scene—in which Sampo speaks to someone on TV before turning to face the camera and address the audience—took happened. It's still unknown why he dreamed about this and if Sampo was involved.
In Dreamscape Pass, Caelus has the option to either accept Sampo as a fellow comrade wave of nostalgia or to feel hatred toward him once again.
Side Missions[]
During the Survival Wisdom quest, Sampo uses his fake treasure map to trick Caelus into gathering all three mining tools for him in order to help Peak with his business concept. In the end, Sampo gives him the actual treasure map as he approaches him furious and prepared to beat him. Until then, Caelus could be offended that Sampo only gets in touch with him when he wants something and treats him like a robot.
Caelus had to push the crates in the Vessel of Mediocrity quest in order to save a mysterious girl in the Fragmentum. To express his astonishment, he tells Sampo about the experience before anybody else. His issue worries him about his mental health, as seen by the several times he offers Caelus see Natasha. Though he cannot find the girl with the crates or anything else there, he does agree to accompany him to the Fragmentum. He advises Caelus to take care of his sleep problems before leaving.
When playing hide and seek with The Moles in the daily quest "Catch Me If You Can", Caelus has the option to hide in a dark alley and stay there for a while, which causes him to wake up at the clinic. After starving for three days, Natasha informs him that he was on the edge of death and that Sampo was the one who rescued him by taking him to the clinic.
It's thought that Sampo is working together with the thief who took Fersman's geomarrow detector in Hook's companion's mission. The narrator will call Caelus naive if it implies he is innocent. As soon as Caelus and Hook catch a thief trying to sell Sampo the detector, he rushes to admit that he knew there's something fishy. Sampo, pleased with their "act of heroism," stays to see their fight and offer advice on how to handle the broken detector.
Sampo tricks Caelus on the Xianzhou Luofu by faking a delivery box with a fake neutron bomb. Caelus gets scared in consciousness by the "explosion" and wakes under Bailu's supervision if he brings the bomb to Qingzu to defuse. That is what Bailu says Qingzu left a note inside the box: "Are you having a good time at the Xianzhou Alliance? —Sampo Koski."
Events[]
During the Museum Management event, Caelus catches Sampo, also known as Mr. Coldfeet, in the hotel room after his sneaky use of relics from the museum. In the silent scene that appears next, Sampo is distinctly panicked and Caelus is visually disappointed. He has the option to accept or reject Sampo's offer of 5,000 credits a bride, but in any case, he gets away with it. He leaves Caelus a playful letter at the secretary desk, expressing his candidacy in being the guest assistant. He may be seen at the museum and on the guest assistant list after completing the quest.
During the Underground Treasure Hunt event, Caelus meets to Sampo on several occasions while exploring ruins. One of the most memorable interactions is when Sampo refers to Caelus as his savior and asks him to move a "piece of metal" out of the away. In another, he shows him how to make automatons ready for the ancient relics market, and in a third, he tries to sell his artifacts "fresh out of the ground."
Sampo plays as one of the light yellow level players in the Aetherium Wars event. He complains about to Caelus that no one wants to play games with him since they think he's a trickster. With him, the game is truly played fairly.
Caelus can picture one frame of Sampo with the fight club during the Stellar Shadowseeker event. If Caelus agrees to pay, Sampo will ask for 50 credits and thank him for his generosity. Then he sends March the separate photos of Sampo and the fight club, to which March replies that the second picture isn't very good. If Caelus snaps a picture without Sampo in it, he will ask if Caelus wants a free copy of the picture, but he won't be able to take it again.
Daily Messages[]
There are three scam attempts in the conversations with Sampo.
During their first conversation, Sampo tries to convince Caelus that he wants to leave the business and that he needs capital to feed mouths for some time. Caelus quickly ends the conversation by announcing that he needs to take a shower. Sampo keeps asking persistently if it was a joke.
Sampo offers Caelus the financial management services during their second conversation. After he gives it a try, Sampo will offer to return his money if he says it's a scam. As Caelus points out, he rudely ends the conversation by saying he has none. He'll scare Sampo out of his pants if he sends him money right away away. Caelus laughs Sampo says that nothing is funny, and he asks whether he's now on his way to the guards.
Sampo asks Caelus to send a link in the third conversation. Calling him a "literal god" if he accepts. When the conversation comes to a the end, Sampo calls it out as a scam and then attempts to smooth things up with a laugh and a sticker with a heart.

Fanon[]
This section is in need of major improvement. Please help improve this article by editing it.
There is plenty of opportunity for shippers to speculate and headcanon because Sampo's story is still unknown and his bond with Caelus is still developing.
Because of Caelus' opposing feelings about Sampo in canon, there are present a variety of dynamics in fan works. Some portray Sampo's one-sided approaches to Caelus, who either doesn't respond enthusiastically or doesn't return the favor out of distrust or annoyance. Sampo is frequently such an enigma that Caelus goes insane attempting to comprehend. Some compare Sampo and Caelus to Aha and Akivili (Ahavili), the Aeons of Elation and Trailblaze, who formed an extremely peculiar relationship; same goes with SampoStelle. Aha claims to be missing Akivili in the Simulated Universe, and their only known encounter was when he blew up the Express after disguising for a human passenger for a year. Not to be overlooked, Sampo and Caelus' connection to the garbage cans was also shown in some humorous works.
Despite being a rare ship, SamCae has a devoted fanbase because of many on-screen interactions. Once Sampo made an appearance in the story, the ship's popularity peak in May 2023.
