Sarazu is the friend ship between Sarabi and Zazu from The Lion King fandom.
Canon[]
Sarabi is the Queen of the Pride Lands and Zazu is the royal majordomo in both the 1994 and 2019 versions of The Lion King. When Sarabi's son Simba and his friend Nala ask to be allowed to go to the waterhole together, Sarabi insists that Zazu serve as their escort. Seeing the two cubs whispering together, Zazu misinterprets their scheming and declares that their respective parents-including Sarabi-will be pleased by their close bond, given that the two cubs are betrothed. Later, after the death of Sarabi's mate Mufasa and Simba's apparent death, Zazu puts his wing on Sarabi's paw in a gesture of comfort.
The 2019 film features a few additional moments involving Zazu and Sarabi. First, Zazu informs Mufasa that Sarabi is leading the pride's lionesses against encroaching hyenas. Later, after Scar takes the throne, Zazu is exiled from the Pride Lands on pain of death but continues to secretly report to Sarabi.
The book Friends in Need indicates that Zazu was appointed as majordomo after he saved Sarabi's life.
The film Mufasa: The Lion King depicts Zazu as having served Sarabi's father, who was king of a pride that was attacked and decimated by the Outsiders. Sarabi manages to escape, with her father entrusting Zazu to guide her to safety. When the pair encounter Mufasa and Taka, Zazu boldly stands up to the male lions on Sarabi's behalf. Sarabi, for her part, asks that neither of the two eat her friend, who she admits was something of a last resort on her father's part.
Zazu later encourages Sarabi to join with the two male lions after they prove honorable, and she grudgingly agrees. Later, after the group is joined by Rafiki the mandrill, both Zazu and Sarabi join in the song "We Go Together" begun by their unusual new comrade. When Zazu becomes stranded on a tree branch in the midst of an elephant stampede, Zazu encourages her to keep a hold, and Sarabi then calls out to Zazu when she falls. Sometime later, when Sarabi gives Mufasa an affectionate nuzzle in praise of his clever thinking, Zazu misinterprets this as a cue and cozies up to Taka, much to the lion's annoyance.
During the final battle with the Outsiders, Zazu flies in to warn Sarabi and her new lioness allies of the enemies' approach. Afterwards, he joins Sarabi and several others in forming up alongside Mufasa, who is declared king of the land of Milele in honor of his role in defeating the Outsiders.
In the novel Be Prepared: A Twisted Tale, Zazu continues to serve as majordomo of the Pride Lands in a continuity that branches off from the original The Lion King film. When Sarabi goes to see Scar and inform him that two cubs have gone missing, Zazu comes out of Scar's lair to inform her of the usurper king's absence. Sarabi asks Zazu to help search for the missing cubs, a request that annoys Scar when he learns of it. Later, he questions Nala-who had left Pride Rock to investigate a rumor that Simba was still alive-why she hadn't spoken of her plans to Sarabi.
After Scar joins up with Nala for her search, Zazu is about to fly back to the Pride Lands to inform Sarabi but is halted by Scar, who convinces him that news of their plan will only grieve Sarabi if Simba truly is dead. In truth, if Simba is alive Scar wishes to eliminate him without it becoming known, and when they do find Simba Scar plans to kill Zazu and then the cubs so that no news of it will reach Sarabi. Later, after Zazu and Nala successfully return to Pride Rock with Simba, Timon, and Pumbaa, Sarabi offers Zazu freedom from his position in the wake of Scar's seeming demise. However, Zazu elects to remain with the pride so that he may serve Simba, Sarabi's son.

This section is in need of major improvement. Please help improve this article by editing it.
Zazu and Sarabi's friendship is not greatly emphasized in the original The Lion King film or any of its sequel or spinoff media. Both are supporting characters and enjoy little on screen interaction. However, their few scenes do indicate a great level of respect from Zazu towards Sarabi. The remake film and its sequel Mufasa expand upon this relationship, giving the two a history that predates that of Sarabi with her mate Mufasa.
Perhaps because their relationship is featured so little on screen, the friendship also has little fan work dedicated to it. There are currently no works on AO3 tagged for their relationship.
