Sashannarcy is the poly ship between Sasha Waybright, Anne Boonchuy and Marcy Wu from the Amphibia fandom.
Canon[]
Sasha first met the other two girls in kindergarten when two older girls stopped Marcy and Anne from being on the swings. Sasha tried to stop the two older girls, which amazed young Anne and Marcy, but failed and got hurt. After Sasha failed multiple times, the two older girls commented that things were getting weird and left, allowing Anne and Marcy to play on the swings. Anne asked Sasha if she wanted to swing with her and Marcy, to which Sasha replied that she would like that. The three then introduced themselves to each other.
Years later, the three girls both attend Saint James Middle School together. Marcy is shown to be clumsy and always almost getting hurt before Anne warns her and the situation is avoided. One time, Sasha commented that Marcy would one day get herself killed, to which Anne protests before having to warn Marcy about something again.
On Anne's 13th birthday, Marcy finds out about the Calamity Box before her parents tell her that they have to talk to her. Marcy finds out that she's moving away, which means she won't be able to see Sasha and Anne. She runs away, crying, and finds the Calamity Box at a thrift store. Knowing that the Calamity Box can send people to other worlds, Marcy contacts Sasha and tells her that she found the perfect birthday present for Anne.
Later, Anne and Sasha meet up at the thrift store and Anne steals the Calamity Box. This is what causes them to get transported to Amphibia, but they all end up in different places.
When Sasha and Anne meet up, Anne realizes that Sasha was controlling her and they have a duel at Toad Tower. As Anne wins the duel, the tower is destroyed and Sasha falls. Anne catches her, but Sasha tells Anne that "maybe you're better off without me" and lets go of Anne.
As Anne and the Plantars near the city of Newtopia, Sprig notices that Anne isn't that excited. Anne, looking at a photo of her, Sasha and Marcy, admits that she thought there would at least be some sign of Marcy since they were travelling for so long. Sprig comments that that might be a good thing since Sasha was "totally evil". Anne defends Sasha and says she still cares about her. Anne then explains to Sprig what Marcy was like and how clumsy and oblivious she was.
Shortly after, they arrive at the gates to Newtopia. Anne and the Plantars aren't allowed in Newtopia because of the barbari-ants, and they are then attack by barbari-ants. They are saved by Marcy, who immediately gets along with Hop Pop and Polly. Marcy helps everyone get into the city gates and later gains the trust of Sprig.
Sasha then reunites with Anne and Marcy, and tells them that she had changed and she's not a bad person anymore. However, that is not the case since Sasha was planning to betray them again. The three do hang out and have fun before the show's season two finale.
Sasha reveals that she was going to betray Anne and Marcy, which they are obviously upset about. Sasha and Grime find out that King Andrias was planning to use the Calamity Box for bad purposes, but Anne and Marcy are still set on helping him.
Sasha and Anne later find out that Marcy was responsible for the three being transported to Amphibia. Shortly after she opens the portal and allows Anne and the Plantars through while Sasha holds King Andrias off. Sasha is defeated and Marcy is killed by King Andrias, who wields a flaming sword and stabs it through her chest. As she collapses, she says that she's sorry for everything. Anne cries out Marcy's name, before she and the Plantars are transported back to her world.
A little after the airing of "True Colors," Disney TVA released a sneak peak of the title sequence for the next season. In this sequence, Marcy can be seen in what appears to be a test tube that is guarded by Andrias. Because of this, it can be assumed that she is meant to be brought back to life.
In "Olivia and Yunan" when General Yunan and Lady Olivia pulled Marcy out of the Healing tank, seconds when she woke from her coma the first thing she said is "Sashy" and "Anne" who she mistook Olivia and Yunan as, believing they came to rescue her, showing she still misses them. As they try escaping, a hologram is activated meant to display their fears. Marcy sees two projections that look like Anne and Sasha calling her out on her betrayal, and in the background, a prom poster is seen on one of the lockers with the words "yes" and "Yes". Marcy begs for them to forgive her and admits that sending them to Amphibia was a dumb decision. The projections of Anne and Sasha fuse together into a monster, and Marcy figures out how to destroy the holograms.

Behind the Scenes[]
- Storyboard artist Alex Swanson started openly shipping Sashannarcy after news of Disney supporting the Don't Say Gay bill. They stated that they've always been scared of drawing gay fanart of things they've worked on in fear of being fired, though the situation with Disney has made them not care about what their employers think.[1][2]After that, Alex started posting and retweeting Yulivia and Sashannarcy fanart.
- When creator Matt Braly was asked about shipping, he states that they left the relationship for the Calamity Trio open as the last thing he wants is to ruin someone's headcanon or ship. He continues, "So for me, especially in this story that is ultimately about friendship, and their friendship dynamic is to end the show in a way that is constructive and open. That’s basically what I’ll say to that is how we’ve worked very hard to have empathy for the people who are shipping these characters and at the same time do right by the show and its themes."[3]
- During a livestream, Matt Braly referred to Marcy and Sasha as Anne's "two girlfriends."[4]
Fanon[]
Sashannarcy is a widely accepted ship in its fandom since people won't have to worry about choosing between Marcanne, Sashanne and sometimes Sasharcy. It has a fair amount of fanworks of the three girls together, romantically or platonically. Fan art a lot of the time shows two of the girls showing affection to the third girl, leaving the third girl flustered. Common tags used in AO3 works include fluff, angst and hurt/comfort. People tend to like Sashannarcy since there's potential for angst for the ships with Sasha, potential for fluff in the ships with Marcy and potential for angst or fluff in the ships with Anne.
