Sebamey is the het ship between Sebastian Michaelis and Mey-Rin from the Black Butler fandom.

Canon[]

History[]

The two first meet when Mey-Rin is assigned to assassinate Ciel Phantomhive. Mey-Rin misses her shot due to Sebastian's misdirection of her bullet. Sebastian chases after her and ends up saving her from an attack from her companion known as "Dove", who had been about to stab her in the back. Sebastian captures Mey-Rin and presents her before Ciel, remarking on her exceptional sniping ability. Sebastian offers her a position as the Phantomhive's maid, pointing out to Ciel that she is, in fact, female.[1] At first, Mey-Rin refuses, thinking that Sebastian and Ciel are insane, but after being offered food, she agrees to work for them.

Throughout the next few months, Sebastian trains Mey-Rin in how to properly be a maid. Sebastian also teaches her and Finnian how to read and write. An intruder comes to the Phantomhive manor and Mey-Rin shoots him down. Sebastian tells Mey-Rin that it was a job well done and that he is impressed with her skills, which Mey-Rin blushes at. Mey-Rin states that because someone (Sebastian) appreciates her for who she is, she will try to prove herself worthy of her position. [2]

Black Butler Arc[]

A couple years later, at the beginning of the series, Sebastian, Mey-Rin, and the other servants are preparing for a visit from a man named Clause. Mey-Rin comes running down a hallway, carrying a large stack of boxes and promptly trips, landing on Sebastian, who catches her in his arms, along with the boxes that she dropped. He scolds her for running inside the manor and lets her go, now that she has been steadied. Because of this incident, Mey-Rin becomes incredibly flustered, barely able to speak or move. Later, she attempts to pour a glass of wine for Clause, but again gets flustered after Sebastian whispers to her, very near to her face. She ends up spilling the wine, but Sebastian quickly fixes the mistake by pulling the tablecloth away. [3]

A similar situation occurs after Ciel is kidnapped. Mey-Rin brings Sebastian a letter from Ciel's kidnappers, but in the process, trips on her shoe laces and falls directly on top of Sebastian, knocking him to the ground. In doing so, she causes Sebastian to narrowly avoid a bullet. She lands straddling him and Sebastian politely stands up, telling the other servants that it was all right. Yet again, Mey-Rin is flustered and becomes (comedically, not medically) unresponsive. [4]

When Mey-Rin mixes up the instructions for the laundry, Sebastian corrects her and fixes the mistake. They clean up the mess and sort the laundry out properly. [5]

Book of Murder Arc[]

After Charles Grey and Charles Phipps attack Baldroy and Mey-Rin, Sebastian intervenes, saving the two from Grey, who had been about to stab Baldroy.

Georg Siemens rings for a servant to come to his room and Mey-Rin states that she doesn't want to go, because of what he had done to her earlier in the night. Sebastian says that he will go with her, to which Mey-Rin asks him if he was worried about her. Sebastian rejects this, saying that he is more concerned about Siemens, as he was very drunk. They find Siemens in his room, appearing to be dead. This leads to Arthur suspecting that they may have murdered him together, so that they could run away to get married, despite their master's wishes.

Sebastian, after "dying", comes to Mey-Rin in the middle of the night to give her an owl. She misinterprets the reason for Sebastian's visit and thinks he came for other, less professional reasons. Mey-Rin agrees to send out the owl for him, and Sebastian begins to leave. Before he does so, he tells Mey-Rin she shouldn't open her door in the middle of the night without knowing who it is, because she is a lady. [6]

After Sebastian's "death", Mey-Rin mourns along with the other servants. When Sebastian's body needs to be moved, she tells him, despite the fact that she believes him to be dead. Then, after Sebastian's funeral and return to life, she celebrates the fact that he is alive.

Public School Arc[]

During their daily chores, Sebastian notices that Mey-Rin's glasses are not working how they should, and asks Ciel if they can go out to get new glasses for her and a new hat for Finny. Ciel agrees and he and the servants all go out to London for a shopping trip. When Mey-Rin tries on her new glasses, Sebastian asks her if they are okay. She sees his face, gets flustered, and replies that it is not good to see so much. [7]

Fanon[]

This ship is one of the smaller ships when it comes to popularity. This is mostly due to the large popularity of the ship between Sebastian and Ciel. Many people ship this due to the fact that Sebastian was the first to treat Mey-Rin how she wanted to be treated, that is, like a woman. She also has a crush on him, which may lead to some shippers attention towards this ship. Some variants of this ship include female and/or vampire versions of Sebastian, and a poly ship including Grell Sutcliff.
