Senku and Ruri are friends and allies in the Kingdom of Science. Senku first hears about Ruri when he first meets her sister, Kohaku, who mentions she had a sister who is terminally ill. When both Chrome and Kohaku mention how Ruri was the one who taught them Momotaro and "complicated" words, Senku starts to get interested in her and is determined to make the cure for her. Determined to help cure Ruri, he joins the Grand Bout tournament to become the Village Chief, increase his Kingdom of Science and, more importantly, save her life. Chrome was supposed to win the tournament at first, but he ended up fainting, relieved after the battle because he knew Ruri would be safe in his hands. As a result, Senku ends up being the victor, shocking everyone. Ruri approaches him, and the two speak to one another for the first time in S1 EP16.

Since the rules of the Grand Bout Tournament stated that the winner of the Grand Bout would have to marry Ruri, they both get married. Before the Kingdom of Science could at least rest for a while, Ruri starts to cough very badly, and Senku knew there was no time for rest yet and needed to act quickly to create the "cure all drug" to find out what illness she had, the village insists they must celebrate the marriage, as mentioned earlier, there was no time, he divorces Ruri shortly after and takes the alcohol given by the village and runs away from the village to create the antibiotic.

Fanon

The ship is known for having the world's fastest divorce on earth as their marriage only endured few seconds for Senku's benefit. It turned out to be funny for the fans, and hilarious since Senku kept his arrogant nature instead of getting carried away for someone like Ruri. The lack of romantic attraction on Senku's is also part of the few reasons the divorce moment was understandable, often being head-cannoned by fans as aro/ace.

Fans like that after the divorce Senku and Ruri remain good friends and allies as Senku did all possible to save Ruri even not knowing her for much time and Ruri thanks to the stories her mother told her as a little child was able to tell Senku about his father's legacy in Ishigami Village.

However, there is a small minority of shipers who hoped that Senku would reconsider the divorce and marry Ruri for real, seeing her as one of Senku's love interest candidates as they consider their interactions rather cute and making a headcanon where it suggests Ruri may have once harbored feelings for Senku as a child when hearing the stories of him in the Hundred Tales.

The ship is not quite popular in the Dr. Stone fandom due to Senku's lack of romantic attraction to people and other rival pairings. On AO3, the most popular ships for Senku are Sengen TsukaSen and Senhaku, while Ruri is shipped with Chrome, as the two are childhood friends and are canon in the manga.
