Canon[]
Sethos and Scaramouche have interacted in canon as evidenced in both their voice lines and Sethos' character story, which reference their interactions with each other, in addition to Wanderer's feature line in Sethos' character demo.
Sethos' Voiceline About Wanderer[]
According to Sethos' About the Wanderer voice line, he expresses his interest in Wanderer's "incredible hat" and states that he attempted to get a better look, however, Scaramouche disappeared. Sethos, undeterred, states that he won't let him get away next time and wishes to have a chat with him.
Sethos' Character Story 1[]
Although Wanderer claims that he doesn't know him and they've barely spoken, more details of their canonical interactions can be ascertained from Sethos' Character Story 1. Notably, this first character story focuses on Sethos' people-pleasing nature and inability to say 'no' to tasks others often ask of him. Sethos notes how his fleetness of foot leads him to oftentimes run errands for others, which he claims he feels proud of and enjoys as a self-described "people-person". It is while Sethos is running another errand on Treasures Street, that Wanderer flies past him, which leads Sethos to ask the woman he is helping, what it is that she thinks Wanderer is doing.
The character story then continues after the next few days, detailing another meeting between Wanderer and Sethos. After watching Sethos scurry around doing errands, Wanderer gives the nickname "busy little bee" to Sethos. Despite the jeering, Sethos smiles and offers to share his lunch with Wanderer. However, Wanderer declines and says that Sethos has a "more important role" than acting as the local errand boy. Sethos comments that Wanderer himself also seems to have a "more important role" than a mere student. Shortly after this exchange, Wanderer vanishes yet again and leaves Sethos in thought of what his "more important role" could be.
Wanderer's cold and closed-off attitude contrasts notably with Sethos' cheerful and friendly personality, which leads some to consider them to be appropriate literary foils in the context of both their lore and unique characteristics.
Chromatic Ode of Candies and Roses[]
In Nahida's 2024 birthday event, Wanderer can be found just outside the Akademiya. After the second story part, Cyno tells Wanderer that Sethos has been talking to him often about Wanderer recently. After the third story part, Sethos himself visits Wanderer to try to get him to come to the Akademiya party. Wanderer doesn't care for the noise, nor does he think he did anything to get invited, but Sethos says that even he has heard about Wanderer's work. Sethos also says that since he knows Wanderer pretty well, the other students asked Sethos to find Wanderer. Wanderer gives in and asks Sethos to show him the way to the party.

Fanon[]
The Sethoscara ship was mostly popularised the day before Sethos' official release with the 4.7 update, as early leaks revealed the unexpected and interesting nature of their relationship, elevating the potential of the ship to fans. Fans often describe Sethos and Wanderer as a golden retriever meets grumpy cat dynamic. Due to Sethos' pursuit of Wanderer, he is often portrayed as eager to talk and friendly in arts and fanfiction, whereas Wanderer is hesitant, shy, and acting disdainful.
Many have speculated and identified potential connections and parallels between both characters' lore and design. Such popular connections include: Wanderer's creation as a puppet to hold a gnosis and Sethos as a vessel for the Hermanubis' Ba Fragment, Sethos' status as a newcomer or "Traveler" to Sumeru City and Wanderer's wandering displacement as Wanderer, as well as their lore dictating their roles as something "more important" then what they currently are (i.e. an ex-god and a host of Hermanubis' power).
These connections have drawn many fans due to the character insight it allows in addition to the character's opposing personalities, making for an interesting dynamic to engage with. Despite this ship being very recent, it has risen greatly in popularity, especially on social media websites such as Twitter and Tumblr, and a rapidly growing collection of publications on AO3.
This ship is rivaled by other popular Wanderer ships, such as ScaraLumi or Scaraether and KazuScara. Some people have created polyships like SethoScaraLumi and KazuSethoScara to ship multiple ships in one.
