SetsuMamo is the het ship between Setsuna Meiou and Mamoru Chiba from the Sailor Moon fandom.
Canon[]
Sailor Pluto is tasked with guarding the Door of Space and Time from an early age. She is instructed to never leave her post, and thus has very few interactions with other people. The only ones allowed to visit her are members of the royal house, and only one of those is male; King Endymion. It is quite likely that King Endymion is the only man that Sailor Pluto has ever met. He is shown to put a lot of trust in Sailor Pluto, while she is seen quite enjoying their conversations.
When Sailor Moon is captured by the Black Moon, King Endymion pays a visit to Pluto. He tells Pluto about what is occurring in Crystal Tokyo, and tells her that he is relying on her. Later, when Chibiusa runs away from Crystal Tokyo, she heads to the Door. She spies on her father, who is speaking with Pluto. When Pluto smiles fondly at him, Chibiusa is hurt; she used to believe that she was Pluto's only friend and the only one that could make her smile. She begins to wonder if Pluto likes King Endymion more than Pluto likes her.
King Endymion is present when Sailor Pluto sacrifices herself by stopping time. He and Neo Queen Serenity promise to make sure that she is remembered for her role in saving the world.
In the present day, Setsuna and Mamoru share very few interactions.
90s Anime[]
In "Believe in Love: Ami, the Kindhearted Guardian", an episode from the third season, Chibiusa heads to Hotaru's house to wait for her return. Mamoru and Setsuna both follow her, although it is unclear if they are working together or merely bumped into each other along the way. As it is snowing, they bring umbrellas to try and protect her from the elements. When Chibiusa explains that she simply misses Hotaru, they both gaze on her sadly and Setsuna offers her a hug.
Sera Myu[]
The 1997 musical "Eien Densetsu" as well as the 2004 musical "Kakyuu-Ouhi Kourin" feature a song called "Onna no Ronsou" which speaks of Sailor Pluto's unrequited love for King Endymion.
Fanon[]
SetsuMamo is seen as a possible alternative ship for Mamoru, rather than the canonical MamoUsa. Fans generally prefer to see the ship occur in the 30th Century between Sailor Pluto and King Endymion rather than placing it in the present day between Setsuna and Mamoru. Due to the close relationship between Pluto and Chibiusa, Mamoru's daughter, some fans like to see Pluto in a mother or step-mother role to the young girl. They enjoy the idea of the three of them acting as a family, oftentimes with Usagi wholly out of the picture.
There are currently over 50 works for this ship on AO3. It is Mamoru's third most popular ship, and his most popular that does not include Usagi in anyway.
