ShenYu is the femslash ship between Shenhe and Ganyu from the Genshin Impact fandom.
Canon[]
Shenhe and Ganyu are both disciples of Xianyun, with Ganyu being trained by her since she was young, and Shenhe being found and taken in. Despite this, they do not actually meet until the Lantern Rite Festival after the reconstruction of the Jade Chamber. Both tend to become embarrassed when Xianyun tries to share their childhood memories with the Traveler.
Gameplay-wise, Shenhe and Ganyu are both 5-star cryo characters, but Ganyu is more often used as a dps, while Shenhe is used as a support for other cryo characters.
Lantern Rite[]
Fleeting Colors in Flight[]
The Traveler, Paimon, and Keqing go to Mt. Aocang to look for Xianyun, and see Ganyu already talking to her. Xianyun asks Ganyu what she is doing there when the Lantern Rite Festival is about to begin, and Ganyu responds she simply came to pay her a visit. Xianyun eventually notices The Traveler, Paimon, and Keqing standing behind Ganyu. After a bit of conversation, Shenhe arrives on the mountain, too. Xianyun introduces her to Ganyu, while remarking she has likely heard of her before. Ganyu introduces herself as well, saying Shenhe can come to her if she needs anything. Shenhe explains she has brought some food from Liyue Harbor she would like to share with her friends. Xianyun thanks Shenhe, and then announces The Traveler, Paimon, Keqing, Shenhe, and Ganyu are to stay in Liyue Harbor and look after each other. Xianyun then mentions sharing one of Ganyu's childhood stories, causing her to make an excuse to leave.
In the final Lantern Rite cutscene, Shenhe is seen watching the fireworks from a balcony. Ganyu gets up from her seat to join her, and they them watch together.

Arriving on Mt. Aocang, Ganyu is seen asleep standing up beside Yaoyao and Shenhe. Yaoyao wakes her up to tell her The Traveler, Paimon, and Gaming have arrived. Ganyu tiredly greets them, making Shenhe suggest trying mint oil. Ganyu does not respond and only lets out a snore, so Shenhe apologizes for what she is about to do. She takes out a bottle of mint oil, applying it to Ganyu's horns. Ganyu wakes up coughing and asks if she had been asleep just now. Shenhe questions if she had not slept last night, since it happens to her often. Seeing her tired state, Shenhe proposes Ganyu could work with her at Wanmin Restaurant so she can get more sleep. Ganyu replies she could never. After Xianyun arrives with Shuyu, everyone splits into pairs to make kites. Shenhe and Ganyu are paired together, and are talking when The Traveler and Paimon go to check on them. Ganyu requests for Shenhe to not put anything on her horns because they are sensitive. Hearing this, Shenhe apologizes and reassures Ganyu she will remember. She then asks to touch them once more without mint oil, curious what her horns feel like. Ganyu reluctantly agrees, reminding her to be gentle. As Shenhe feels them, she deems Ganyu's horns to be "firm to the touch with indiscernible temperature," but notices Ganyu seems uncomfortable. After she stops, Shenhe says she will apply the mint oil to Ganyu's forehead instead next time, with Ganyu insisting there is no need. She then says they should get started on their kite before Xianyun comes to check on them.
Returning to Mt. Aocang after finishing their kite, The Traveler and Paimom are surprised to see only Shenhe and Ganyu are still there. Ganyu explains why everyone else left, and Shenhe mentions Gaming said something she did not understand before leaving. Paimon asks what exactly he said, which Shenhe answers he stated "A kite is always tied down no matter how far it flies or how high it soars. Its tether prevents it from ever truly flying free". Ganyu comments Gaming did have a strange attitude towards kites, so The Traveler suggests he could've seen himself reflected in them. Shenhe says if she were a kite she would cherish the tether as a symbol of kinship, making her understand Gaming's words even less. Ganyu mentions people have different points of view, with Shenhe asking if it is like the way some people can eat spicy food, but others won't go near it. Suddenly, Xianyun comes back to ask what they have been talking about. Paimon responds she does not need to get involved in everything, and then asks where she had gone. Xianyun says she had gone off to cook. Ganyu expresses her happiness to finally try Xianyun's cooking again, but Shenhe seems hesitant. After reassuring Shenhe she has prepared a variety of dishes, she instructs Shenhe and Ganyu to follow her.
They go to Xianyun's abode, where she gifts the two outfits for the festival. As they step outside to The Traveler and Paimon, Ganyu seems slightly insecure, meanwhile Shenhe directly asks how they look. The Traveler and Paimon both agree they look great. Xianyun steps out and says she would expect so since she hired the best tailor in Liyue to make these outfits. A flashback is then shown, where Xianyun asks Shenhe and Ganyu what colors they like. Shenhe says she likes black, and Ganyu says she likes black and blue. They both thank Xianyun for the outfits before sitting down to eat.
Fanon[]
ShenYu is decently popular in the Genshin Impact fandom, but some prefer it as a family ship. This is due to their sister-like connection through their master/maternal figure both being Xianyun. They are commonly paired together with Xianyun as a family ship between all three of them. However, they are not actually blood related at all, making it okay to pair them together. Romantic or familial, ShenYu is loved for their close bond and interactions in Lantern Rite cutscenes.
Aside from their in-game interactions, Shenhe and Ganyu are shipped together for various reasons. Fans find their similar blue and black color palettes tie well together, and look aesthetically pleasing. A more major reason is their very often side by side appearances in official art, delighting shippers who enjoy seeing them together. Lore-wise, their similar situations of feeling like outcasts in Liyue Harbor has attracted attention to their relationship, with fans often describing them as the "Not So Different" or "You Are Not Alone" tropes.
The two having no rerun of their banner for over a year has resulted in the popular running joke that the Cryo element is dead or non-existent, taken further as of Wriothesley's release, another 5-star Cryo character that has not been seen on a banner for over a year. Shenhe and Ganyu eventually both got their rerun with the Remembrance of Jade and Stone chronicled banner in Version 5.3, but there has been numerous arguments it does not count since it is not their actual wish banners The Transcendent One Returns and Adrift in the Harbor.
