- To be honest, half the time I don't even understand how I feel myself. But if I had to put it into words, I'd say... You make me smile when you're around. You're interesting, all the time. When I'm with you, it's like I never want to leave.
- —One of Shez’s dialogue options during Lysithea’s A support conversation
Shezlys is the non-binary ship between Shez and Lysithea von Ordelia from the Fire Emblem fandom.
Canon[]
Shez and Lysithea can first optionally meet at the start of the game, after the prologue chapter, while exploring the game’s first camp. If Shez speaks with Lysithea, then Lysithea recognizes Shez as the mercenary that helped the three house leaders and questions whether Shez is trying to curry the favor of young nobles for some evil ulterior motive. Shez can respond to this in denial, which will raise support points with Lysithea, or respond vaguely about how it's always nice to have nobility indebted to mercenaries like Shez. Either way, Lysithea asks Marianne, who is with them, for her opinion on Shez, then shoos Shez away, stating that she and Marianne are busy.
Afterwards, Shez's encounters with Lysithea depend on which path is chosen in the Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes game.
Golden Wildfire[]
As a playable character, Lysithea can be interacted with during every chapter’s camp exploration time. The following summarizes what she talks with Shez about each chapter:
- Chapter 3: Lysithea gives Shez details about Count Gloucester and Viscount Phlegethon, sharing how she doesn’t trust the Viscount.
- Chapter 4: Lysithea will explain how she’s fighting in her father’s stead to get revenge on the Empire, and Shez can either encourage her to fight twice as hard or praise her father for putting his people before himself - both of which Lysithea agrees with.
- Chapter 5: Lysithea will express concern at how stressed her father is, since he had no choice but to follow Count Gloucester and Claude’s plan in the previous battle.
- Chapter 6: Lysithea will note how House Ordelia can no longer help with the war effort, so she’ll need to fight harder to make up for that. If Shez tells Lysithea that she’s already doing a lot, Lysithea will thank Shez. If Shez instead encourages Lysithea to fight until everyone in Fodlan knows her name, Lysithea will retort that she’s not trying to become famous.
- Chapter 7: Lysithea will be annoyed at Shez approaching her while she is resting. Shez can then dejectedly respond about simply being curious at what Lysithea was up to or teasingly ask Lysithea if she is hiding something. The latter dialogue choice gets Lysithea to admit to eating a little candy. She defensively says she wasn’t trying to hide it but would appreciate Shez not telling everyone.
- Chapter 8: Lysithea notes how both the Kingdom and the Federation have vastly different structures despite both being ruled by kings, although she thinks how smoothly things go for the Federation will depend on Claude. If Shez responds thinking Claude will be a great leader, Lysithea groans, calling Shez naive. If Shez instead wonders if Claude might be an easily distracted leader, Lysithea will backhandedly praise Claude by saying that Shez would be worse at staying focused.
- Chapter 9: Lysithea comments on being anxious about going against the Central Church, since many people from Ordelia territory follow the Central Church’s teachings.
- Chapter 10: Lysithea will comment on being seasick after their ship ride. If Shez comments on almost getting seasick too, Lysithea will be glad that she’s not alone. If Shez instead disagrees on how much the ship was swaying, Lysithea will get indignant, questioning if Shez was suggesting that Lysithea was not a “real adult” and instead “some sort of child.”
- Chapter 11: Lysithea will agree with Claude’s plan since she believes it’s the quickest way to ending the war, hinting at her short lifespan.
- Chapter 12: Lysithea is dismayed that House Ordelia is in trouble again, angrily swearing to make the Agarthans pay for it. If Shez tells Lysithea to calm down, she will be shocked that Shez can remain calm despite potentially being related to the Agarthans. If Shez instead apologizes for potentially being connected to the Agarthans, Lysithea will ask why Shez is apologizing since Shez isn’t helping them. Regardless, Lysithea is resolved to find and capture the Agarthans’ leader and make them confess to their crimes.
- Chapter 13: Lysithea discusses with Shez on how to defeat the Agarthans in the long term. Regardless of whether Shez suggests by ending the war or by unifying Fodlan, Lysithea agrees but adds that reforms of the current power system will also be needed. (This dialogue is the exact same as in Scarlet Blaze.)
- Chapter 14: Lysithea will ask Shez whether Shez feels the same way that she does - that although her problems won’t disappear with the war’s conclusion, they still need to do all they can to win so they can at least make progress with their personal problems. If the special chapters (unlocked if Byleth recruited) occur, then after Shez returns from Zahras, Lysithea is relieved that Shez returned back safely. She then grills Shez for details as to what had occurred. If Shez begins to fumble through the explanation however, Lysithea changes her mind on account of Shez taking forever to explain. If Shez asks to explain another time, Lysithea agrees.
Lysithea’s Paralogue[]
Shez will barge in while Lysithea and Count Gloucester are having a discussion. Lysithea will express annoyance at the interruption until Shez reports that a southern town in Ordelia territory had been overrun by bandits. Shez requests for reinforcements from Count Gloucester since the Federation can’t spare any troops, then Shez and Lysithea will bicker about this until Count Gloucester tells them to stop it.
After saving the town, Lysithea thanks Count Gloucester for his assistance while Shez admits out loud that he wasn’t just “dead weight” after all, and Lysithea scolds Shez for such lack of respect. After Count Gloucester muses how he hopes to give Lysithea’s father peace and have tea with him some time, Shez has the option to question why he doesn’t build Lysithea’s father a mansion instead, which causes Lysithea to angrily tell Shez to shut up.
Scarlet Blaze[]
Despite House Ordelia offering the Empire their allegiance, Lysithea still chooses to fight beside Claude and the Alliance against the Empire. She is then encountered on the battlefield in Chapter 7, where she can be persuaded to join the Empire.
Recruited[]
If recruited, Lysithea will appear in Chapter 7’s post-battle camp and in every subsequent chapter’s post-battle camp, where Shez can approach her for a chat and do activities with, just like with every other recruited character. The following are summaries of what Lysithea will talk to Shez about for each chapter’s post-battle camp:
- Chapter 7: Lysithea will explain how she was fighting in her father’s stead, who despite pledging House Ordelia’s allegiance to the Empire had actually deep down wanted to stand with the Alliance and fight against the Empire instead. This is due to House Ordelia facing cruel treatment at the Empire’s hands before. Shez then asks why Lysithea joined them then if she hates the Empire, to which Lysithea admits that she is curious about Edelgard and what the emperor had meant by understanding what had been done to Lysithea before.
- Chapter 8: Lysithea trusts that nothing bad has happened since Shez looks unbothered, but warns Shez to be careful of Agarthans even in Enbarr and also around Hubert, who likely doesn’t entirely trust Shez.
- Chapter 9: Lysithea comments on how six months have passed without them seeing any Agarthans, much to her disappointment. She reacts in shock if Shez says they got to rest a ton because of that, accusing Shez of being lazy and scolding Shez for not helping her look for the Agarthans. If Shez instead responds nonchalantly about how the Agarthans may still appear later, Lysithea is stunned at how Shez is taking this all in stride.
- Chapter 10: Lysithea comments on how the Agarthans will likely make a move once the war comes closer to an end with the intention of spreading chaos in Fodlan. If Shez asks who she’s talking about, Lysithea will be dismayed that Shez isn’t aware that she’s obviously talking about the Agarthans and how Shez barely thinks about them despite being potentially connected to them. If Shez instead does realize she’s talking about the Agarthans, Lysithea affirms Shez’s answer and tells Shez to stay alert.
- Chapter 11: Lysithea expresses worry about the unrest in Ordelia territory. She wonders how ordinary ruffians could cause such chaos, however, suggesting that she thinks it's the Agarthans pulling the strings. If Shez acts confused, Lysithea will react in exasperation. If Shez instead correctly guesses that a mastermind is behind it but doesn’t know who, Lysithea will be surprised that Shez doesn’t know.
- Chapter 12: Lysithea is certain that the Argathans have come out to attack and insists they get their leader in the next battle.
- Chapter 13: Lysithea discusses with Shez on how to defeat the Agarthans in the long term. Regardless of whether Shez suggests by ending the war or by unifying Fodlan, Lysithea agrees but adds that reforms of the current power system will also be needed. (This dialogue is the exact same as in Golden Wildfire.)
- Chapter 14: Lysithea speculates the Agarthans want to get rid of Edelgard and Rhea at the same time in the next battle. She expects the Agarthans’ leader to appear but laments how she won’t be able to get any information from them during the fight, so she’ll have to subdue them.
Not Recruited[]
If Lysithea is not persuaded to join the Empire in Chapter 7, then she is killed.
Azure Gleam[]
Shez and Lysithea do not directly meet at any point after this route is chosen, but since the Alliance ally with the Kingdom, they are at least allies who know of each other.
Support Conversations[]
Shez can optionally build support levels with Lysithea on only the Golden Wildfire and Scarlet Blaze (if recruited) routes.
C Support[]
Lysithea will catch Shez studying records of past battles then offhandedly remark how she didn’t expect a mercenary with Shez’s background to do such a thing. She then catches herself and apologizes for saying something so rude, but Shez brushes it off, agreeing to having a loose fighting style but having to adjust now that Shez has more responsibilities. Lysithea is impressed by this, stating that she sees why their house leader trusts Shez so much, especially given Shez’s youth. Shez thanks and compliments Lysithea back, for being amazing “for a kid.”
This offends Lysithea, who then goes on a rant about being treated like a child. Shez is flabbergasted, with options to either agree that the compliment was said as equals or to defend the compliment, since Lysithea is clearly younger than Shez. Either way, an argument breaks out, with Shez pointing out that Lysithea was the first to compliment based on age and that being so reactive was unbecoming of a supposed adult, while Lysithea insists that she is being calm and having a normal conversation with Shez right now.
B Support[]
Lysithea will approach Shez with the intention of fixing their strained relationship, which Shez was not aware was strained at all. Shez has dialogue options to either guess Lysithea is referring to a “pastry incident” (when Shez found Lysithea hiding out and eating some pastries) or a “ghost incident” (when Shez caught a screaming Lysithea mistaking a dead tree to be a ghost), either of which Shez didn’t really think about or tell anyone about. Lysithea will get tensed at this, but prod Shez to remember their previous support conversation, to which Shez responds in surprise that Lysithea was still thinking about something that had happened so long ago.
Lysithea admits that she’d been thinking about apologizing the whole time, and Shez responds by also apologizing for what was said back then. Shez then asks why being called a kid had upset Lysithea so much if she doesn’t think of herself in that way, to which Lysithea reveals some insecurities about her age, appearance, and short stature. Shez responds by disagreeing, saying how Lysithea looks like “a very pretty young woman” who acts very mature, too. This causes Lysithea to blush, until Shez ruins it by following up with how Lysithea’s ability to command troops puts “real adults” to shame. Lysithea nearly blows up again at this but manages to temper herself into forgiving Shez again. Shez praises her for being a “real grown-up” for that, which irks a resigned Lysithea.
A Support[]
Lysithea catches Shez telling another girl that she looks like “a very pretty young woman” who acts very mature, too. Lysithea confronts Shez over this, which Shez guiltily explains comes from some memorized stories, since Shez is terrible at giving advice on the spot. Shez apologizes, and an upset Lysithea demands Shez to tell the truth about Shez’s opinion on her. Shez can then either borrow another line from a story (saying how Lysithea is attractive and extraordinary) or try using Shez’s own words (saying how being in Lysithea’s presence makes Shez smile and never want to leave). Either way, Lysithea becomes very flustered and smitten, fumbling with her words before quickly dismissing herself. Shez will be disappointed at the end of either dialogue option (having wanted to actually use original words instead or to have phrased Shez’s sentiments better) but hopes that Lysithea understood anyway.
Camp Activities[]
After Lysithea becomes a playable character in the roster, Shez can invite Lysithea to expeditions, cook and have meals together, give a gift to her, and do volunteering activities together.
Expeditions[]

After being invited out, Lysithea will either tell Shez to hurry as there’s no time to waste or that it’ll be nice to take it easy for the day. There’s then optional actions that Shez can do depending on the location chosen:
- Plains: If Shez picks a flower and gives it to Lysithea, Lysithea will be surprised that Shez is the type to do that and accepts the flower. If Shez instead catches and gives her a bug, Lysithea will call Shez surprisingly childish.
- Forest: If Shez says that there’s no one around, Lysithea will be confused as to why Shez was checking, commenting that they’ve been alone the entire time. If Shez instead confesses to being lost as to where they are, Lysithea will be wondrous at how Shez even managed to be a mercenary but reassure Shez that she knows the way.
- Mountains: Lysithea will trip and fall. If Shez gives first aid, Lysithea will comment how the usually unsophisticated Shez can be considerate at times. If Shez instead offers to carry her home, Lysithea will get annoyed, exclaiming how she’s not a child.
- Waterfront: If Shez suggests they go fishing, Lysithea will decline. If Shez instead suggests they go play in the water, Lysithea will at first excitedly agree to the fun idea, before quickly backtracking at how improper that’d be and how she’s not a child.
After settling down and while having tea, Shez can talk to and ask Lysithea questions, with responding dialogue options that Lysithea will either like or dislike. If a perfect conversation was achieved, then Shez can examine Lysithea up close, causing Lysithea to comment on various things depending on what Shez is looking at.
Cooking[]
If Shez cooks a dish that Lysithea likes, then Lysithea will say how she can tell that Shez was trying to making something that appeals to a child, but she’ll forgive that and willingly eat the dish again.
If Shez instead makes a dish that Lysithea dislikes, then Lysithea will comment about how since she’s not a child, she can force herself to eat the dish, but not this time.
For all other dishes, Lysithea will say that she’s not sure whether Shez wants to hear her honest opinion about the dish and simply thank Shez for the meal.
Gifts[]
This section is in need of major improvement. Please help improve this article by editing it.
Lysithea’s reaction depends on what type of gift Shez gives to her.
- Likes the gift: Lysithea thanks Shez, in a positive way.
- Neutral: Lysithea thanks Shez, neutrally.
- Dislikes the gift: Lysithea reluctantly thanks Shez.
- Merc whistle (A-support unlocked): If Shez and Lysithea have had their A support conversation, then Shez’s merc whistle can be given to Lysithea. Lysithea will respond in pleased surprise, then give Shez an amber sweetener in exchange. After the final battle is completed, Lysithea will also give a letter to Shez. In the letter, she thanks Shez for helping to turn the page on the war and giving them a glimmer of hope. She hopes Shez won’t mind that she keeps leaning on Shez for as long as she still lives.
Volunteer[]
Regardless of which volunteer activity is chosen, Lysithea will agree to join Shez for the task.

Fanon[]
Shezlys is one of the most popular ships for both Shez and Lysithea in the Three Hopes fandom. The pairing is especially popular among those who have played and enjoyed the Golden Wildfire and/or Scarlet Blaze routes, since those are the only two routes where Shez and Lysithea's support conversations can be unlocked. There is also reasonable plausibility in the pairing regardless of either route, since in both Golden Wildfire and Scarlet Blaze (if Byleth is recruited), the Federation and the Empire become allies. And, if the Azure Gleam route is chosen instead, since the Alliance and the Kingdom eventually become allies too, it is possible for Shez and Lysithea to meet on amicable terms later, even if their support conversations cannot be unlocked over the course of the route.
Fans find the ship to be unexpectedly charming, having not expected how snarky, dumbfounded, and eventually flustered Lysithea would be around Shez’s foolhardy personality. They find Lysithea’s reactions to Shez’s straightforwardness to be cute, especially in their A support conversation. There’s also the appeal of Shez being connected to the Agarthans and Lysithea really hating the Agarthans due to them experimenting on her in her past. Players also find it very amusing how if the player chooses to have Shez respond with “empty-headed” replies to some of Lysithea’s dialogue, then Lysithea will comically respond with astonishment or dismay each time. Shezlys has thus gained the reputation of being the “dumbass and prodigy” couple, with people headcanoning that Lysithea finds Shez to be a “sexy idiot” and a “dumb himbo.”
Among Scarlet Blaze enjoyers, Shezlys is more popular with female Shez, especially among players who also consider Lysithea to be an “honorary Black Eagle” on the Scarlet Blaze route and in the Crimson Flower route in the previous game Three Houses. Those who ship this pairing with female Shez also usually ship Edeleth with female Byleth, too. In fact, when F!Shezlys is brought up, so too is F!Edeleth usually brought up. Those who ship both Shezlys and Edeleth also like how both pairings similarly feature a character who was experimented on by the Agarthans and a mercenary who is given powers by a mysterious being.
