Shihonami is the femslash ship between Shiho Hinomori and Honami Mochizuki from the Project SEKAI fandom.
Canon[]
Shiho and Honami are fellow members of the rock band Leo/need, as well as childhood friends, along with Ichika Hoshino and Saki Tenma. Shiho is the band's bassist, and Honami is their drummer and leader. They both attend Miyamasuzaka Girls' Academy as second-year students.
Prior to forming Leo/need, Shiho and Honami's relations were strained as a result of both of them distancing themselves from their childhood friends in middle school, albeit for different reasons - Shiho didn't want her bad reputation to affect them, while Honami was afraid due to previous bullying and ostracization.
Main Story[]
A day after meeting Miku in the School SEKAI and performing together, Honami and Shiho bump into each other in the hallways. They both express not understanding what exactly happened before Shiho remarks she's surprised Honami still plays the drums. Shiho then questions Untitled's existence and if Honami also has strong feelings, the "same kind of feelings as Ichika and Saki" just like Miku mentioned. While hesitating to answer, Honami is approached by her classmates who proceed to ask her out for lunch. Honami apologizes and leaves. Her classmates start badmouthing Shiho and when Honami corrects that Shiho just works part-time at a livehouse instead of "hanging out at some sketchy dive", her classmate asks if the two are friends. Honami hesitates, suddenly remembering her middle school classmates, and she claims she just heard the fact from someone else. After witnessing the way Honami acts around her classmates, Shiho mutters out a "pathetic" and leaves.
In Episode 13, with Ichika and Saki having properly reunited with Shiho, Saki wonders out loud if she could somehow manage to get Honami to join them. Shiho says it won't be likely as Honami still hasn't gotten over "her junior high school trauma", before explaining that she's not fully sure about the details and that Honami would always brush her off when she attempted to ask. Shiho then expresses her grievances about Honami and how much she has changed, that it makes her mad to see how passive and subservient she has become. After Ichika tells what Honami had confessed to her, Shiho angrily says that Honami turning her back on her childhood friends because she couldn't face her bullies isn't a good solution, and questions if she never cared about hurting the other two. Shiho quickly apologizes but says she can't understand why Honami is acting the way her current self does, before mumbling "Although I guess I can't really talk..."
Shiho confronts Honami for making Saki cry
Upon telling Honami she won't bother her anymore, Saki attempts to stay positive but becomes depressed, leading to Shiho becoming enraged to the point of confronting Honami about it. Honami attempts to avoid Shiho, and Shiho asks if she'll try to keep avoiding her forever. Shiho first mentions Honami won't probably want to listen to her as Shiho also attempted to cut ties with their childhood friends earlier, before asking if Honami really is fine with things staying the way they are now. Honami denies not caring about Saki's feelings, but Shiho presses on further and says Honami only cares about protecting her own feelings and that she's so afraid of being hurt, she ends up running away when things get difficult. Honami, remembering her middle school classmates, mumbles out she doesn't know what to do, and Shiho gets madder. Honami blurts out she doesn't want to be bullied again, leading to Shiho expressing her disappointment, pointing out that Honami has trust issues regarding her current classmates as well, and leaving Honami to cry on the spot.
Shiho then goes to the studio to attempt clear her head. While walking home, Shiho is shown to regret what she said, how she knows that Honami never came to ask her childhood friends for help because she didn't want to to worry them. She then runs into Ichika and mentions saying mean things to Honami and how she feels like an idiot and hates herself for not being able to articulate her thoughts properly to Honami.

After a show, Shiho told the rest of Leo/need that they can go on ahead without her because she'll stay behind to talk to the manager about their next show. Before Shiho leaves, Honami thanked her for helping Leo/need to actually perform in shows and how she can ask them for help if she ever needs it.
After planning their new song, Shiho accidentaly took Honami's sheet music and left her own in Saki's room. Honami noticed this and decides to find her. At the Scramble Crossing, Honami found Shiho who was on the phone with someone. She asked her about it and Shiho responded saying that it's someone from work, she also asked what Honami is doing here. Because of that, Honami tells her that she accidentaly took her sheet music. Shiho then hands over the sheet music and thanked Honami for telling her.
A few days later at school, Honami was looking for Shiho but couldn't find her at her class or cafeteria. While she was walking around in the courtyard, she stumbled across Shiho who was on the phone with someone. Honami called her name which startled Shiho a bit. The latter asked if she was looking for her, Honami replied with yes and states that she was hoping to to check in about what they'll do for practice next week. Shiho explained what they'll do next week and Honami understood. Honami also asked Shiho about the call she just made and if everything's really okay, which she replied to saying that she's fine. Honami asked again if she is sure about that, she also said about how Shiho can tell Leo/need anything that bothers her. This made Shiho silent for a bit until she speaks up and thanked Honami for saying that, she reassures her saying that she's fine for real. Honami is still a bit unsure though, she was about to speak up until the school bell rings and interrupted her. Because of this, Shiho says she's gonna head back to her class, Honami told her to wait but she already walked way.
Area Conversations[]
In an area conversation in the School SEKAI, Shiho remembers that Honami was good at other instruments besides the drums back in middle school. Shiho asks why Honami stuck to playing the drums. Honami tells Shiho that she remembers hearing that it helps everyone play better when there is a stable rhythm to follow, but she also admits that part of the reason she stuck to playing drums was because it seemed the coolest. Shiho says that there's nothing wrong with that. In another area conversation in the School SEKAI, Honami notices Shiho tuning her bass instead of using a tuner. Shiho says she does for fine tuning but she is trying to get a feel for doing it without one. Honami comments that tuning is probably a really good way to train your ears.
At Miyamasuzaka Girls' Academy, Shiho and Honami's school, the two are ready for the rhythm squad's special training session. Shiho asks Honami why she is smirking. Honami tells Shiho that she is just happy to spend time with Shiho, but she tells her not to worry since she promises to practice seriously. Shiho says that she wasn't really worried. In another area conversation at school, Honami asks Shiho to practice with her since she was having trouble with the rhythm of the song they have been working on. Shiho agrees to practice, and Honami says that she will bake something sweet in return. Shiho says that Honami doesn't have too since she is happy to help when it comes to practice, but Shiho adds that cookies will be nice. Honami responds by saying she'll bake a bunch of cookies. Honami asks again to do rhythm training with Shiho in another area conversation. Shiho suggests arriving at practice three hours ahead of time since it's valuable practice. Honami has a bad feeling about it, but she thanks Shiho nonetheless.
In an area conversation on the Main Street, Shiho asks if Honami is buying apple pies again. Shiho admits that she figured Honami would eventually get bored of apple pies, but Honami says that she could never. She describes what she likes about apple pies and even goes as far as to say she could have them for every meal. Shiho stutters in response. At the shopping mall, Honami comments on how a dress is cute. Shiho says that she didn't know Honami liked that kind of casual outfit, and Honami says that she can never find an good outfit that doesn't make her look like a mom. Shiho suggests that Honami tries on the outfit, and she bets it would look good on her. When getting ice cream, Honami gets a vanilla flavor though Shiho expects her to get apple flavored. Honami says she likes apple pies but ice cream is different, and she says that Shiho wouldn't get a ramen-flavored ice cream. Shiho says that she wouldn't, but she doubts the comparison is quite the same. At the music shop, Honami asks Shiho what kind of stuff she does working at a live house. Shiho answers that she usually works reception and other odd jobs, but she is sometimes asked to stand in as a bass player. Even though she is playing with people she has never played with before, it usually works out alright. Shiho says that trying to match her pace with new people is actually quite fun, and Honami giggles and says that sounds exactly like something Shiho would like.

Shihonami the most popular ship for both Shiho and Honami, partly due to their opposite personalities: Honami is the gentle, caring one of the group, whereas Shiho is shown to come across as relatively blunt and cold in a lot of situations. On AO3, the ship is Honami's 3rd most written and Shiho's 4th most written ship being underneath other popular ships such as Polyneed, Honakana, Shihosaki and Ichishiho. It is mostly shipped alongside Ichisaki, although many fans also ship the four in a polyamorous relationship.
