Shikamaru Nara is a character from the Naruto fandom.

Shikamaru Nara is a ninja from Konohagakure and the current head of the Nara Clan. His is genius but is also rather lazy. He was the first of his age group to become a Chūnin and is now a Jōnin. He has the ability to stun and control others by manipulating his shadow. He is the son of Shikaku and Yoshino Nara, husband of Temari, and father of Shikamaru Nara.

Shikamaru first faced Temari in the Third Round of the Chūnin Exams, where he almost won but surrendered in the end. She later helped him defeat Tayuya of the Sound Four during his mission to retrieve Sasuke. Shikamaru and Temari saw each other often as the years passed, and many from both villages picked up on their mutual attraction, though they initially denied. However, they would later date, marry, and have a son named Shikadai.

Shikadai Nara[]
Shikadai bears a strong resemblance to his father and paternal grandfather. He has black, pointed hair, gathered in a ponytail, and his mother's teal eyes. Unlike his father, Shikadai has sharper facial expressions, a trait he most likely inherited from Temari. Shikadai's outfit consists of a cream-colored jacket with a zipper with a rudimentary Nara clan symbol on the back, blue pants and standard shinobi sandals. Wear his forehead protector wrapped around one of his sleeves. As is the custom of his clan, both of his ears are pierced by gray button earrings.

Shikamaru Nara is one of the most popular characters in the Naruto fandom. This is because of his genius intellect in combination with his laziness which makes him more relateable. As Shikamaru interacted with Temari the most in the series, the ShikaTema pairing quickly became the most popular ship. Fans of that ship were excited when it became canon in the end. Others ship Shikamaru with others such as Ino, Chōji, Sakura, Naruto, and Sasuke.

Chōji was Shikamaru's best friend growing up. Their friendship started when Shikamaru stood up for Chōji when other children wanted to exclude him from their game. Shikamaru never judged Chōji for being overweight and encouraged him to be himself. Chōji likewise supported Shikamaru to have confidence in his genius intellect during his battles. Their friendship continued into adulthood and their children are both friends and teammates.
