Shinjika is the het ship between Shinjiro Aragaki and Fuuka Yamagishi from the Persona fandom.
Canon[]
Shinjiro hasn’t met Fuuka yet, but he heard about her from the girls who bullied her. He met her after re-joining SEES on September 2nd.
Fuuka went by his side to comfort him by placing her hand on his shoulder. However, Shinjiro removes her hand from him while talking to Ken in his final moments. After Shinjiro's death, Fuuka blames herself, believing that she should have trusted her intuition and realized something wasn't right when Shinjiro said he had something to take care of on the night of the operation, as well as the fact that he died as a result of Strega's attempt to kidnap her or worse. Yukari and Mitsuru, however, are quick to reassure her that it's not her fault, with the latter in particular saying that she should have been the one to realize it.
In the Portable version of Kotone’s route, if Shinjiro’s Social Link is maxed before October 4th, Fuuka was the one who suggested taking unconscious Shinjiro to the hospital.
In the original English version, they refer to each other by their first names.
Other Social Links/Recordings[]
In FES, where Fuuka and Aigis return from school, Fuuka first thinks Shinjiro is sleeping on the couch. Still, in reality, he is pretending to sleep so that he wouldn’t tell anyone he’s interested in cooking.
Makoto’s Route[]
Fuuka rarely interacted with Shinjiro outside of combat during Tartarus. She does feel remorse over his death and blames herself for it. In the Japanese version, she only addressed him by his last name.
Kotone’s Route[]
Unlike Makoto’s route, Fuuka gets along with Shinjiro very well, thanks to Kotone’s involvement. She admires him after he helps her with one of the foods she made. She became one of the few people to open up to him. She often asks Shinjiro to teach her again and help to improve her cooking skills.
On rank 4th where Shinjiro helps Fuuka with her cooking beef stroganoff. He is willing to teach her the basics of cooking. Fuuka writes down everything he is teaching her. After that, Shinjiro mentions Fuuka and asks him to teach her again to Kotone. At the end of the 4th rank, Shinjiro and Kotone helped Fuuka clean up. On rank 6th, Shinjiro asked Fuuka to allow him to cook various meals to make dinner for everybody.
Dear’s Girls[]
In “Some Many Memories in Such a Short Time,” Shinjiro teaches Fuuka to cook. When Shinjiro notices Fuuka accidentally burning herself, he helps her soak her hand in water to cool down the burns on her fingers.
Film[]
Unlike in the game, the two rarely interacted because the film mainly focuses on Shinjiro’s interaction with Akihiko and Ken. Like everyone else, Fuuka reacted in sadness over Shinjiro’s death.
The Weird Masquerade[]
In Act 2, after Fuuka returns, she unexpectedly witnesses Shinjiro cuddling Koromaru. At first, Shinjiro attempts to leave, but the others return from school. Instead, he hides his apron. When Fuuka hesitates to reveal to everyone that Shinjiro was the one who made all those meals, he glares at her, so she ends up lying to the others. Unlike in the game and film, Fuuka is seen attending Shinjiro’s funeral with the others.
Fanon[]
This is one of the few well-known ships in the Persona fandom. In the original game, Shinjiro and Fuuka fight, and Shinjiro's tragic death on October 4th, 2009. Their interaction increased in the updated version of the game, Persona 3 Portable and Persona 3 The Weird Masquerade. Fan art and fan fiction portray their relationship as the cook and apprentice because he teaches Fuuka to cook. It is mainly platonic because they don't have feelings for each other.
