“Remember how you practiced with me before the newcomer tournament when we were first years? That time, you taught me how to calm myself... And how focusing on just shooting your arrow allows you to clear your mind of unnecessary thoughts... After putting what you said into practice, Asahina, I was able to hit the target for the first time... In essence, you saved me.”
— Shizuku in Raise Your Bow in a Snow-White World Episode 6 "As Much As I Want To Help"

Shizumafu is the femslash ship between Shizuku Hinomori and Mafuyu Asahina from the Project SEKAI fandom.

Canon[]

Mafuyu and Shizuku are third-year students at Miyamasuzaka Girls' Academy as well as fellow members of the archery club. The two refer to each other with last names and honorifics. It is shown that the two have a friendly relationship, and Mafuyu treats Shizuku like a normal person, which makes Shizuku extremely happy. They both have mature appearances and "perfect" images in their own way, but deep down are different. Shizuku is quite airheaded and struggled a lot due to her beauty and talent while she was a member of Cheerful*Days, often getting accused of favoritism by her group members, while Mafuyu's real personality is that of an apathetic girl's who has lost her identity due to pressure from parents and peers alike. The two did not initially have many interactions, however, as the story goes on, they started appearing more together.

In their first area conversation at Miyamasuzaka Girls Academy, Shizuku apologizes to Mafuyu for not being able to make it to archery practice as often, and Mafuyu reassures it's fine, sympathizing that she must be quite busy. Mafuyu tells her she's welcome to come to practice when things have calmed down, and that she's looking forward to seeing her in the club room. In the second one, Shizuku tells Mafuyu she has the time to come to archery practice. Mafuyu asks her about her equipment's condition and suggests they could do some maintenance on it before practice. Shizuku thanks her for the suggestion and then thinks to herself how Mafuyu is always so nice. In the third one, Mafuyu asks whether Shizuku's water bottle is filled with tea or a sports drink, and Shizuku tells her she puts tea into it during summer and miso soup in winter. Shizuku happily explains to the confused Mafuyu how she loves its taste and that it's good for your health. She then becomes even happier when Mafuyu understands where she's coming from, and tells that others (except for MORE MORE JUMP! members) often find it weird. Mafuyu assures she hasn't seen anyone doing it before, but it fits Shizuku so there's nothing wrong with doing it.

The Moon Rabbit & Us[]

"The Moon Rabbit & Us" opens with Shizuku and Mafuyu at Archery Club together, where they compliment each other’s skills. Mafuyu then takes notice of Shizuku looking a bit concerned, and she decides to ask Shizuku about it. Shizuku opens up to Mafuyu about not knowing what to do with MORE MORE JUMP! for their next stream, to which Mafuyu suggests that she do something seasonal, providing moon viewing as an example that accidentally sets Shizuku onto a nostalgic and emotional path of recollection that becomes the focus of the event.

Mirage of Light[]

In Mafuyu's "Memories of Warm Affection" card's first side story, Mafuyu heads to the school for archery practice in the morning while feeling sluggish and wondering if she stayed up too late. While in the courtyard Shizuku approaches her and mentions that she was also going to archery club's practice, and Mafuyu suggests they go together. Shizuku then asks if Mafuyu is feeling alright and Mafuyu tries reassuring Shizuku, also lying that she stayed up late because she had more homework to do. Shizuku isn't fully convinced and apologizes when Mafuyu says her name, before mentioning how Mafuyu reminds Shizuku of "someone in my group." Shizuku mentions how similar Mafuyu and Haruka are and that she hopes Mafuyu isn't also pushing herself too hard. Mafuyu says with a smile that's not the case and she appreciates Shizuku's concern. They talk a bit more and Mafuyu mentions that Shizuku is someone she can rely on. Shizuku then says she'd be glad to help her out in any way she can, and the two smile at each other.

And Now, I Wear This Ribbon[]

Mafuyu and Shizuku interact in Mafuyu's "Distant Warmth" card's second side story. Shizuku calls out to Mafuyu who is lost in her thoughts in the hallway and asks if she's doing okay. She puts her hand on Mafuyu's forehead and mutters that it isn't hot at all. Mafuyu lies and says she was just moving her bangs out of her eyes, and Shizuku apologizes for misunderstanding. Mafuyu assures her it's fine and that she's happy Shizuku was concerned about her. Mafuyu then asks if Shizuku always checked Shiho's health that way as well, and how she is a bit envious because she has always wanted an older sibling who would look after her. Shizuku thanks her and says Mafuyu would also make a great older sister, complimenting her hardworking, caring and proactive nature, and how everyone in school trusts her. Mafuyu modestly takes the compliment and then asks Shizuku if she's ever had a hard time being an older sister. Shizuku explains that while she was worried whether Shiho would make friends or not, what she was most worried about was being too selfish in her own mind - not being able to spend time, be by Shiho's side, or making Shiho worry about her due to her idol activities. Shizuku then apologizes for talking so much and Mafuyu tells her she doesn't mind it, explaining she's always interested in hearing about siblings' relationships, and how she can understand just how much Shizuku cares for and loves Shiho.

Raise Your Bow in a Snow-White World[]

After Shizuku helps out her archery club kouhai by training with them, Mafuyu approaches her and thanks Shizuku for going through the effort. Shizuku smiles and thanks Mafuyu but also claims she didn't do anything special, and in response Mafuyu giggles and says that Shizuku really is modest. Their conversation is interrupted by one of the members calling Shizuku over, and she walks over to continue their training session after wishing Mafuyu good luck with the upcoming individuals match. A few hours later, Shizuku and Mafuyu take care of checking through the club before closing the doors. With Mafuyu's insistence, they go return the key together.

As they walk through the hallway, Shizuku and Mafuyu discuss the first-year students and Shizuku thinks to herself how back in her first year, she was going through a lot and that she was able to have more confidence in herself thanks to the others members' advice. Mafuyu notices the third-year students studying hard and snaps Shizuku out of her thoughts. The two discuss how they'll eventually have to stop their archery practice as well in order to focus on their studies and how sad it feels. Shizuku then asks if Mafuyu wants to go a medical school and then reveals that some first-year students had seen Mafuyu buying study guides for it. When Shizuku encourages Mafuyu and says she can imagine Mafuyu being a wonderful doctor, Mafuyu's face goes a bit grim and Shizuku asks if something's wrong, but Mafuyu denies it. Shizuku remembers seeing Mafuyu's grim expression in the past as well and becomes worried. Mafuyu derails the topic by talking about Shizuku's reason for joining the club and when Shizuku is about to ask Mafuyu whether she feels alright, they are interrupted by a teacher.

At home, Shizuku remembers how Mafuyu showed the same expression in the past when she had something on her mind despite claiming that she was fine, and wonders whether something is bothering Mafuyu again. When Miku and KAITO interrupt her and start asking her for help and ideas, she is reminded of Mafuyu and starts telling the two about her struggles when she was a first-year student and still starting out as Cheerful*Days' new leader as well.

With the suggestion of a senior groupmate who's about to graduate, Shizuku decides to visit archery club after entering high school. When asked to introduce herself, some of the girls whisper how she's so different from her on-screen personality, causing Shizuku to feel self-conscious. Right afterwards, Mafuyu says she was impressed by Shizuku's reason for joining. Shizuku becomes surprised and thanks Mafuyu, who in turn says she was just saying what she felt, leading to Shizuku thinking if Mafuyu managed to read her. When Mafuyu introduces herself and mentions her reason for joining, Shizuku thinks to herself how Mafuyu is a wonderful person. While the girls try practicing with the equipment, Shizuku feels self-conscious again, and upon seeing that Mafuyu managed to already shoot an arrow and show the other first years how to do it, she thinks that Mafuyu must be the definition of perfection itself. Mafuyu agrees to join the club after the captain asks her, and Shizuku starts worriedly thinking that she might become a burden due to her inexperience and how things would be easier if she were perfect like Mafuyu. To her surprise, Mafuyu asks Shizuku if she's going to join as well. After receiving Mafuyu's encouragement and her mentioning how it would be fun if they could start practicing archery together, Shizuku decides to also join.

A few months later, Shizuku watches Mafuyu perfectly shoot another arrow, and attempts to do her best as well. However, she drops her arrows and starts feeling self-conscious again as she notices the other first-year students making progress. Despite the archery club's captain cheering Shizuku on, she isn't able to fully shake off her discomfort. After a series of events relating to Airi and Shizuku's own career, she stands at the archery range all alone and laments how much trouble she is having as both an idol and as a member of the club. Shizuku briefly entertains the idea of quitting the archery club after the tournament, but her thoughts are interrupted by Mafuyu approaching her. Mafuyu admits she's impressed how Shizuku has managed to balance out being an idol and practicing archery, and mentiions just how hard Shizuku is working to overcome the obstacle in front of her (in this case, her wanting to hit the target). In her thoughts Shizuku compares them two and when Mafuyu asks if something is wrong, Shizuku ends up blurting out her thoughts about Mafuyu - how she's an incredible person, she doesn't struggle like Shizuku does, and how she wants to be more perfect like her [Mafuyu]. However, Mafuyu instantly claims that she's far from being perfect and starts explaining how she manages to shoot thanks to her being able to clear her head at the archery range. Shizuku then realizes she herself has been focused so much on "being perfect" that she let it get to her, and she becomes determined again. Mafuyu then suggests they train together. Shizuku stops while attempting to shoot an arrow as her thoughts start going awry, and Mafuyu tells her to not care about anything except the arrow she's about to shoot. After taking her advice, Shizuku manages to hit the target and Mafuyu happily congratulates her. Shizuku then confides to her a bit and Mafuyu encourages her once more.

At the newcomer tournament, Shizuku watches Mafuyu hit the bullseye, and despite the captain claiming Mafuyu might be able to win it, she manages to reach fourth place. Shizuku then thinks that Mafuyu claims she isn't perfect yet she managed to produce such incredible results. She then goes to look for Mafuyu and finds her in the changing room, but is caught off guard by Mafuyu's different, gloomy expression. When Mafuyu notices her, she returns to her usual honor student self and claims she was just feeling tired. The two leave the changing room and Shizuku worriedly ponders over Mafuyu's expression.

A Stillness Only You Know

Shizuku's perspective of Mafuyu shooting arrows

A month passes and Shizuku apologizes for having to leave practice and not help clean up due to her work. Mafuyu tells Shizuku to be careful due to the snow and Shizuku thanks her. However, while in the changing room, Shizuku gets a call from her manager about her interview being postponed. Shizuku notices the snow and then decides to head back to the archery range in hopes of being able to help Mafuyu clean. When she arrives, Shizuku catches Mafuyu practicing and witnesses her hit the target four times in a row. Despite finding the sight incredible, she also notices how Mafuyu looks like a completely different person and that Mafuyu is mumbling something to herself. She remembers Mafuyu's words about calming one's mind and jumps to wondering if something is bothering her so much that her perfect calming technique isn't working. Mafuyu then realizes somebody is watching her and Shizuku walks towards her, while mentioning how she came back to help Mafuyu. Mafuyu reverts back to her usual self and thanks Shizuku for her willingness. Shizuku attempts to talk to Mafuyu, but she decides to back down when Mafuyu pretends nothing happened, leading Shizuku to thinking if she had just imagined Mafuyu's grim expression.

Back in the present, KAITO asks what happened afterwards, and Shizuku says Mafuyu took a few days off but seemed completely normal afterwards. Shizuku then became too busy with work to think about Mafuyu's expression before being reminded of it when she said Mafuyu will become a wonderful doctor. Shizuku voices out her desire to help Mafuyu out but feels like saying it will make Mafuyu feel uncomfortable. After KAITO's encouraging words, Shizuku thanks him and Miku for listening to her and promises to do her best to assure Mafuyu that she's by her side and willing to help if something bothers her.

The next day, as Mafuyu is heading over to the study room to finish her cram school assignments, she thinks that she wants it to never stop snowing so she could just stay in the school forever, never having to return home. Her swaying thoughts are interrupted by Shizuku, and Mafuyu asks if she wasn't planning on practicing on the rooftop with her groupmates. Shizuku says they cancelled it due to the snowfall and various scheduling conflicts, before inviting Mafuyu to go and practice in the archery shooting range. Shizuku asserts that she really needs to do this and Mafuyu is taken aback by her assertiveness, leading to her agreeing to practice for a bit. After warming up and while practice shooting using the hay bales, Mafuyu giggles saying it feels nostalgic and asks if Shizuku remembers how they used to line up together when they were first-year students. Shizuku smiles replying that Mafuyu was kind enough to help her with drawing the bowstring, and thanks Mafuyu for her support. Mafuyu denies doing anything special, leading to Shizuku mentioning the time Mafuyu taught her how to calm down and properly shoot an arrow just before the newcomers tournament, which led to Shizuku not quitting the club. When she says that Mafuyu essentially saved her, Mafuyu again denies doing something so grand, saying she just gave Shizuku a gentle push and that it was her work ethic kept her afloat, but Shizuku presses on further that Mafuyu played an important role in it.

Shizuku then mentions Mafuyu's expression, and apologizes for bringing it up, before suggesting that Mafuyu could talk to her if something is bothering her. Mafuyu is taken aback by her words, before claiming she's fine and claims her grim expression was caused by stress both times. Shizuku isn't fully convinced, asking if Mafuyu is truly sure, and when Mafuyu says there's nothing to worry about, Shizuku apologizes for jumping to conclusions. Mafuyu says she appreciates that Shizuku is trying to look out for her before suggesting they have a little contest. Shizuku agrees to her idea and before they start, Shizuku thinks that while she didn't learn what was bothering Mafuyu again, she'll do her best so that one day, she'll be able to support Mafuyu when she needs Shizuku's help.

Shizuku reminding Mafuyu to just focus on the target

Mafuyu shoots the first arrow and Shizuku marvels at Mafuyu's skills in her mind, before telling herself that things are now different and asserts she can nearly match Mafuyu. Mafuyu in turn thinks how calm Shizuku is after hitting the hay bale and that their contest might actually end in a draw. Mafuyu then apologizes after her phone goes off and she apologizes before checking it out. Mafuyu freezes up and starts feeling cold seeing it's a message from her mother telling her to come home soon, and Shizuku asks if something came up and whether they should cancel. Mafuyu returns saying they can continue and Shizuku instantly notices the difference in her mood and gasps when Mafuyu misses her shot. Shizuku shoots, barely hitting her target, and when it's Mafuyu's turn again, Shizuku notices how much Mafuyu is tensing up, leading to Shizuku repeating the words Mafuyu told her back in the day about just focusing on nothing but the shooting the arrow. Mafuyu manages to hit the hay bale and Shizuku compliments her, before Mafuyu reminds her that their contest isn't over yet.

As the girls reach the courtyard after finishing things up, it is revealed their contest ended in a draw as Shizuku missed her last shot. Mafuyu suggests they have another one someday and that proclaims that she'll win next time. Shizuku, with a smile, in turn promises to give it her best shot. Mafuyu then comments how different the courtyard feels when it's snowing, and Shizuku says it feels like they're in a dream since no one else is also there. She proceeds to make a snow rabbit, then says while it may be sad that the rabbit melts, the memory of having made the snow rabbit will remain in her mind, and tells Mafuyu to also remember what they did during the archery range. When Shizuku says she wants Mafuyu to remember that she's also by her side, Mafuyu thanks her and then for a split second shows her one of her genuine smiles, leading to Shizuku thinking it seemed different from her usual one. Just as they're about to leave, Shizuku slips and falls on her umbrella, and Mafuyu offers that they should share her umbrella. Shizuku then blushes when Mafuyu wipes some snow off her face.

Shizuku and Mafuyu also interact in the second side story of Mafuyu's card. Mafuyu runs into Shizuku while returning home from cram school.

Quotes[]

Shizuku“I'm so happy that we get to perform together!”
Mafuyu“So am I. Let's do our best, Hinomori-san.”
— One of Shizuku and Mafuyu's live callouts
Shizuku“Asahina-san, do you set aside time for yourself to relax? For example, surrounding yourself with the things you like or investing time in a hobby. Or just finding time to let you be yourself and genuinely relax.”
Mafuyu“Time where I can be myself...?”
Shizuku“Asahina-san...?”
Mafuyu“Again, I appreciate your concern, but I think I'm okay. I'm surrounded by friends who will listen to me as well as teachers I can rely upon. Hehe. That includes you too, Hinomori-san. My friend and valued clubmate.”
Shizuku“And I'd be glad to assist you in any way.”
Mafuyu“*smile* Thank you, Hinomori-san.”
— "Memories of Warm Affection" first side story
“Asahina-san, Happy Birthday! I'm very happy that we've had more chances to talk recently. Ah, how about we talk about our hobbies next time, if you'd be okay with that?”
— Shizuku in Mafuyu's Birthday card's second side story
Mafuyu“Oh, it's the third years.”
Shizuku“Huh?”
Mafuyu“Look, they're all in the studying room together.”
Shizuku“Oh, you're right. They all seem to be working very hard...”
Mafuyu“They've all retired from club activities and have entrance exams coming up. And when I go down the third years' corridor, there's a sort of tension in the air. When we become third years, the time will also come for us to retire and study...”
Shizuku“Yes, you're right... I know it's inevitable, but that time will eventually come... I feel a little sad about that actually.”
Mafuyu“Me too. Especially since we've been doing this since we were first years.”
Shizuku“However, we have our futures to think about, and that's going to be our time to decide what we want to do in life...”
— Raise Your Bow in a Snow-White World Episode 1 "That Face I Once Saw"
“(Not only is she kind, she's also mature and has this uncanny ability to create an uplifting atmosphere... What a wonderful person...)”
— Shizuku's first impression of Mafuyu in Raise Your Bow in a Snow-White World Episode 2 "I Wanted To Be Perfect"
Mafuyu“I'm not perfect... Far from it. That's why I'm here.”
Shizuku“Huh?”
Mafuyu“Taking up archery made me realize something. This place... It calms me.”
Shizuku“It calms you...?”
Mafuyu“Yes. I believe this is a place where you have no choice but to clear your mind of all other thoughts. If your mind wanders at all... If you're not fully focused on your arrow... It won't hit the target. So, I set everything aside when I'm here... School, my friends, all of it... Focusing only on shooting has this way of calming me... I have a feeling that you'll be able to move forward if you learn to do that...”
— Raise Your Bow in a Snow-White World Episode 3 "For This One Moment"
“(I'm so glad that I practiced so much. I finally feel like a member of this club now... And I have Asahina to thank for that.)”
— Shizuku in Raise Your Bow in a Snow-White World Episode 4 "At The Archery Range In Winter"
Shizuku“But I really need to thank you. I was able to stay in the archery club because of all the support you gave me.”
Mafuyu“Hehe. That's very kind of you, but I really didn't do anything all that special.”
Shizuku“No, I disagree...”
— Raise Your Bow in a Snow-White World Episode 6 "As Much As I Want To Help"
“Yes, I'm standing here today partially because I worked very hard and didn't give up... However, I still believe that you played an important role in helping me when I needed it most... So, Asahina-san, thank you for what you did.”
— Shizuku in Raise Your Bow in a Snow-White World Episode 6 "As Much As I Want To Help"
“So, if there is something bothering you, I'd like for you to talk to me about it. You saved me once before, Asahina. Now it's my turn to help you.”
— Shizuku in Raise Your Bow in a Snow-White World Episode 6 "As Much As I Want To Help"
“(But that's okay for now... Someday, as long as I'm able to lend her a hand when she does need me... So, for now... I need to become stronger. I have to learn how to become a pillar of support for someone when they need me most.)”
— Shizuku's monologue in Raise Your Bow in a Snow-White World Episode 7 "For Now, Focus On This Shot"
“Um... I owe Asahina-san a lot for her help with archery club, going way back. But I've never had the chance to express my gratitude to her. Until today, that is. I expressed my feelings, and... She made me feel so validated. That made me so happy!”
