Sieun & Juntae is the friendship between Yeon Sieun and Seo Juntae from the Weak Hero fandom.
Canon[]
Webtoon[]
Gray Yeon (Yeon Sieun in the Korean version) is the head of Class 1-5 at Eunjang High School. Eugene Gale (Seo Juntae in the Korean version) is his deskmate.
Season 1[]
Chapter 3
After Gray defeats Colton Choi (Choi Hyoman in the Korean version) twice, along with Eddie Moore (Min Chucheol in the Korean version) and Royce Na (Na Hongseok in the Korean version), Eugene watches Gray from the corner of his eye. He doesn't know anything about Gray's character at all but notes that Gray is a little shorter than him and his limbs are nothing but bones. He also thinks that based on his looks, he can easily be mistaken for a girl.
Eugene recalls how Gray had defeated Colton the first time and can't wrap his head around how cunning Gray is in a fight. Gray catches Eugene staring and coldly asks if he has something to say. Eugene warns him that it's dangerous to commute through the bridge underpass because there were a lot of incidents there and it's where delinquents like to hang out. Gray points out that it's the fastest way but Eugene continues warning him about the place.
When Gray is away in the bathroom, Eugene thinks about the many things he has to tell him and wonders if he's not from around here. However, since he is so caught up in the moment and being friendly towards Gray, he forgets about Eunjang's environment and gets hit by Evan Yoo (Yoo Yeonghun in the Korean version).
Chapter 9
Eugene notices that Gray is sleeping in class so closes the drapes to help him rest better. Once Gray wakes up, he sees Eugene struggling to read in the dim room and tells him that it's okay to open the curtains. Unbeknownst to Eugene, this simple gesture brings back memories of Stephen Ahn (Ahn Suho in the Korean version). Eugene awkwardly talks with Gray about how they are both on duty next week.
Chapter 13
Gray arrives at Eunjang at 6:45AM the next day for his class duty. As he cleans the room, Gray recalls his encounter with Teddy Jin (Jin Taeoh in the Korean version) who has begun bullying him. By the time Eugene arrives, Class 1-5 is already spotless and Gray is studying at his desk. Eugene apologizes to Gray for not helping, but Gray, instead, asks for more information about Teddy.
Eugene shares that Teddy was notorious at Seong-Il Middle School. He was once suspended for beating a teacher who dirtied his backpack, and was responsible for several students either quitting school or transferring. Aside from his best friend Chad Jang, Teddy doesn't seem to have any affiliations and isn't involved with any gangs. Eugene asks Gray why he always comes to school so early. Gray replies that he is doing so in order to "study ahead".
Chapter 15
Teddy had ordered a student to draw an X on the back of Gray's uniform with a marker. While riding the bus home from school, Gray recalls Eugene buying him special laundry detergent to help remove the marker stains since Eugene has experience with his own uniform being drawn on by bullies in middle school. Gray thinks that Eugene's actions are similar to Stephen's.
The next day, Teddy spills Coke in the hallway and Gray, being on duty, is forced to leave the classroom to grab a mop bucket to clean it up. Teddy barges into Class Five and grabs Gray's bag. Eugene tries to stop Teddy and holds onto the bag until Teddy's punches force him to let go.
Chapter 16
Eugene apologizes for not being able to stop Teddy and offers to take care of the mess. Gray politely declines, telling Eugene there's no reason to apologize and to go to the school nurse. As Gray walks away, Eugene notices that the marker stains came out, and realizes (much to his surprise) that Gray referred to him by name.
When Gray finally decides to fight back against Teddy, Eugene asks him if he wants anything from the snack bar. Gray requests a can of Coke which Eugene gets for him.
Chapter 18
After Gray defeats Teddy, Eugene notices that Gray’s hands are shaking. He realizes that Gray has been terrified throughout the encounter but kept a straight face and faced his fears head-on. In comparison, Eugene feels pathetic for having lived his life in fear without ever attempting to better his situation.
Chapter 20
When Phillip Kim (Kim Pilyoung in the Korean version) steals Gray's backpack and brings it to the incinerator, Eugene offers to go with Gray. Gray turns him down, but Eugene follows him anyway, refusing to stand aside any longer.
Chapter 24
Ben Park (Park Humin in the Korean version) defeats Jimmy Bae (Bae Jihun in the Korean version) resulting in Yoosun's loss against Eunjang. One of Gray's earlier opponents, not yet aware that the fight is over, tries to swing at Gray from behind. However, Eugene tackles him before he can hurt Gray.
Chapter 38
Eugene notices that Gray has changed a little since the fight against Yoosun. He thinks Gray has begun to open up just a little bit. Gray recalls his former middle school teacher, Mrs. Lee, telling him to not forget that there are people around him who care and worry about him.
After school, Gray and Eugene go to the pool hall with Ben, Alex Go (Go Hyeontak in the Korean version) and Gerard Jin (Jin Gayool in the Korean version).
Chapters 40-42
Gray leaves the pool hall first due to having to go to cram school. Eugene notices that Gray left his phone behind and leaves to go return it. On the way to Hero Cram School, Eugene is jumped by Hyeongshin students. Teddy jumps in to save him.
Not long later, Gray arrives at the entrance of the alley. He sees that Eugene is injured and asks if it was Teddy again. Eugene says that Teddy was actually helping but Teddy denies it. Gray tells Eugene that they're leaving but the Hyeongshin students yell at them and say they'll have things wrapped up in five minutes. Gray agrees to play with them for five minutes. He and Teddy defeat Hyeongshin’s Team Three.
As Teddy walks in the opposite direction of Gray and Eugene, he glances back and notices how they're concerned about each other. Eugene wonders if he should start giving the bullies money before they beat him up. Gray tells Eugene to give him his phone and Eugene remembers that is the reason why he came all the way to Noryangjin.
Eugene asks Gray to teach him how to fight. Gray says that if Eugene is going to ask him a favor then to ask something appropriate. What Eugene should be asking for help with shouldn't be fighting but rather studying. Gray tells Eugene to join a cram school.
Chapter 46-47
Eugene follows Gray’s advice and enrolls into Hero Cram School.
Chapter 48
Eugene brings up Gray’s greatest interest: studying. He tells Gray that he signed up for Hero Cram School and that he’s in the super basics class. Gray gives Eugene a notebook about key points and tells him to start improving his grades in memorization-based subjects. He tells him to not study like an idiot and to maximize efficiency and minimize burn out. Eugene brings up to Gray about the rumors about him. He tells him that Yoosun’s been calling him the “White Mamba of Eunjang” but Gray isn’t actually interested in the rumors.
Chapter 50-51
Eugene has to stay back at Eunjang High School after classes are over to clean the teachers' office. When Alex wants to ask Eugene about the Shuttle Patch on the way home, Eugene tells him that he has cram school. A disheveled Teddy approaches Eugene and tells him that Co is sick. Eugene asks if Teddy is going to take Co to the Singil Vet but Teddy says he's a complete stranger to Singil. Eugene asks Alex to take Teddy to Singil Vet since Gray gets mad if he misses his classes.
At Hero Cram School, Eugene is finally getting the hang of studying due to Gray's notes.
Chapter 52
Hyeongshin starts beating up all of the Eunjang students that just finished cram school because they are hunting down Eunjang's White Mamba. Eugene sends a message to their friends in the group chat requesting help but no one is reading it. Donkey notices Eugene whispering and orders him to get to the front. Eugene tells Rowan and Gray not to get involved and that he just needs to buy some time since he is the only one that has experience getting beaten up.
Eugene doesn’t think Gray would be able to handle all the Hyeongshin students. Donkey starts hitting Eugene. Grape tells Donkey to be careful since the White Mamba is said to fight extremely dirty and uses all kinds of underhanded tactics and even weapons to win. Donkey asks Eugene if all those rumors really are true.
Gray starts walking towards them and says they are true. He takes off his belt and wraps part of it around his hand. Gray tells them that one who fights in the dirtiest ways and doesn’t hesitate to use weapons, that the White Mamba of Eunjang, is him. He whips Donkey in the face with the metal belt buckle.
Chapter 60
After the Baku Fam defeats Hyeongshin, they gather together. Eugene buys drinks for everyone. Despite now knowing much about Gray, he correctly guesses his favorite drink is milk.
Season 2[]
Chapter 68
During lunch, Eugene is happy he got a big pork cutlet. Phillip bumps into him and spills food onto Eugene. Phillip tosses his tray at Eugene and spills more food on him. Eugene realizes Phillip had also spilled food onto Gray who was behind him. Gray orders Phillip to clean his shirt. Phillip tries to make a strategic retreat by acting tough and saying Gray isn't worth it, but Gray continues to call him out. All eyes are on them now and most believe that Phillip will win. Eugene witnesses Gray defeat Phillip.
Chapter 69
Gerard texts Alex to go to the rooftop. Ben and Alex find Gray and Eugene. Eugene informs them that Gray knocked out Phillip Kim. Ben suggests going to the rooftop but Gray refuses and goes to class. Ben and Alex notice how sad Gray looks. Eugene mentions that Gray doesn't do rooftops, so Alex suggests Ben talk to him.
Chapter 75
At Eunjang, Gray and Eugene finish eating lunch. Eugene says that the guys want to meet up at the annex building. They go to the annex room where Ben, Alex, and Gerard greet them. Alex says Ben found the place and Gray remembers that he told Ben he doesn't do rooftops. Gray thinks the place is cool.
Chapter 82
After Wolf Keum (Keum Seongje in the Korean version) beats Rowan and Eugene up due to Jared Sun (Seon Jongwon in the Korean version) framing Rowan for stealing the bag of money and files, both of them worry about Gray when Wolf orders the White Mamba to be brought to him.
Chapter 84-85
Gray is frozen in fear and unable to fight back against Wolf due to his rooftop trauma. Rowan and Eugene try to help him but they are held back by three Eunjang students. Eugene tearfully apologizes to Gray for being weak and not being able to take the hits for him.
When Gray finally snaps and starts fighting back, Jared orders Hwangmo to help Wolf. Eugene prevents Hwangmo from interfering by grabbing onto his leg and refusing to let go even as Hwangmo hits him.
Chapter 89
Gray is hospitalized after defeating Wolf. Eugene visits Gray with Rowan and Teddy. He asks how long Gray is going to be hospitalized for and Gray says he’s going to get discharged soon. He orders pizza because the hospital food is awful.
Chapter 100
After Gray is discharged, he goes to the rooftop of Eunjang High School and is no longer afraid. He thinks that it's strange that he feels much better now. He has an unexplainable yearning that can't be put into words. Eugene asks Gray if he's okay and Gray says he is. Gray tells him that they should get going or they'll be late. Eugene notices Gray has a new bag and, weirdly, a giant safety pin.
Chapter 117
Gray, Eugene, Rowan, and Teddy bump into Eunchan Hong, Dean Kwon (Kwon Hyukjin in the Korean version), Timothy Park (Park Taegi in the Korean version) and Grape on their way to Eunchan. As Gray starts walking towards Dean to fight him, Eugene warns him that Dean is really dangerous, has good fighting skills, and is fast. He says he might be Gray’s worst match. Gray tells Eugene not to worry because he is a coward, so he never starts fights he can’t win. At that moment, he doesn’t seem like the Gray that Eugene knew. His eyes flash with an unfamiliar darkness, and that is when Eugene sees the real White Mamba.
Season 3[]
Chapter 128
Alex suggests to Eugene that they work out together, but d Eugene. He suggests working out together, but Eugene remembers Gray's words and decides to just stick to studying.
Chapter 133
Eugene thinks if Ttosikki Chicken had better lighting, more people could be seated outside. He thinks the NORYANGJIN sign should be brighter to solve the problem. Gray and Eugene discuss how to improve the lighting. Rowan says the science and invention competition is perfect for Eugene.
Chapter 143
Eugene tells Gray that he passed the first round of the science and invention competition and he received the funds to build a prototype for the second round. Gray offers to help him in the second round too. Gray asks who the Union leader is. Eugene says he’s a total beast who not even Ben could defeat; he tells Gray that his name is Donald Na and he goes to Yeo-Il.
Chapter 178
At the PC Cafe, Gray prints out several documents and asks Eugene if that’s the address for his aunt’s vet. Eugene confirms it is and Gray says it’s strange.
Chapter 179
Minsu Gong steals his math textbook and says his friend next door needs to borrow it. Eugene recalls something similar happening in middle school when a bully stole his PE uniform, and the bully beat Eugene up when he spoke up. Eugene doesn’t want to show his weak side to his friends. He thinks everyone in the gang is amazing, but he feels like he doesn’t belong.
Gray snaps Eugene out of his thoughts and reminds him that it’s time for music class. He asks if something is wrong but Eugene denies it. Minsu asks Gray if he can sit next to him, and Gray allows him because there is no assigned seating. Eugene feels left out again when Minsu tries to make small talk with Gray.
After school, Gray asks what Eugene is thinking about that made him so distracted today, but Eugene says it’s nothing to worry about. They go to the cyber cafe so Gray can help Eugene with his project before they head to cram school. At the cyber cafe, Eugene prints out his project proposal. All he has to do is get the documents ready and apply the samples. He shows Gray his prototype. Gray reminds Eugene that they need to test it within the approved area and take a photo. Eugene says he thought he’d try it where it’s actually needed, so he got permission to test it near his aunt’s vet clinic.
Eugene mentions that it’s weird how the other stores didn’t like it. Gray says that they should be glad that it’s brighter and asks why they didn’t like it. Eugene says he doesn’t know and none of the store owners he used to know were there. Gray searches up the address of the vet and prints out a list of building owners around the area from real estate registries.
Gray tells Eugene that the redevelopment projects are suspicious because Chungil Lee’s name keeps on coming up, and he keeps on buying up all the buildings for pennies. They both recognize the guy looking similar to Eunjang’s new director and that their names are similar. Gray recalls that in his final year of middle school, he overheard some business owners in Banpo sold their businesses for cheap but later the prices got higher. Gray says to Eugene to ask if his aunt has been getting any offers lately to sell her clinic. Eugene calls Dr. Kim who confirms that Chungil Lee offered to buy her clinic. Gray tells Eugene to tell her to not sell.
Chapter 180
Eugene thinks that it’s been a while since the gang got together because everyone is in different classes. He asks Minsu for his textbook back, and Minsu tells him to go get it back from Class Nine himself. When Eugene goes to Class Nine, Bruce Lee isn’t there. Gray asks Eugene what he’s doing at Class Nine and Eugene tells him about the borrowed textbook. Gray informs Eugene that he’s going to go to the academic conference at Gwanak University tomorrow as the school representative.
Chapter 181
The next day, Minsu asks Eugene if he can borrow his English textbook, but Eugene refuses. Minsu starts to pester him and gets more hostile with his tone, but retreats once Gray arrives. Eugene thinks of himself as a loser who is nothing without Gray. Minsu approaches Gray and suggests a game of billiards, but Gray says he has to go to the teacher’s office after school. Minsu says he’ll wait for him on the rooftop, and Gray agrees.
Eugene asks Gray how the event was and Gray says it wasn’t bad. He asks if nothing much happened and Eugene pretends that Minsu didn’t bully him. He doesn’t want to admit how pathetic he is, and thinks he can’t ask for help for something as silly as this because it wasn’t easy becoming friends with the gang. He doesn’t want them to be disappointed in him and he can’t even imagine being alone again. He thinks his only choice is to hide it.
The next day, Minsu approaches Gray and reminds him that they were supposed to meet on the rooftop and go play billiards together. Gray asks why he would do that with him.
Chapter 182
Gray denies ever planning to play billiards with Minsu. Colton has his friend drag Minsu to the rooftop for a beating. Eugene wonders what happened and why Gray lied. After school, Eugene receives a call from his aunt saying that a new development project was just announced, and the commercial area falls within its borders which means the property value has increased. She says to thank Gray and that she’ll treat them to some food some time. The call ends and Eugene informs Gray that he was right.
Eugene wonders why everything is going so smoothly because he isn’t used to it. He couldn’t have imagined any of this happening a year ago. He realizes that it’s all because he became deskmates with Gray, and all of it feels like a dream. Gray returns Eugene's math textbook to him after having retrieved it from Bruce Lee.
Eugene begins crying and thanks Gray for everything. He says if he hadn’t been Gray’s deskmate, he would’ve still been a loser getting picked on by the other kids. He thanks Gray for being his friend. Gray smiles and remembers how Eugene was the first to reach out to him by giving him supplies to erase the marker stain on his uniform, tackling the Yoosun student who attempted to hit Gray from behind with a metal beam, enduring Donkey’s beating even though he could’ve revealed that Gray was the White Mamba, restrained Timothy Park during the fight against Daehyeon, and how Eugene tried to fight back on the rooftop against Ganghak.
Gray tells Eugene that he’s really easy to read and that he’s a good guy. They continue heading home and Gray tells Eugene that he isn’t helping him for free. He says if Eugene wins the prize money, he’s gonna have to treat Gray to a large plate of sweet and sour pork. He has Eugene promise that from now on, he’ll tell him if he ever needs help, and Eugene agrees.
Chapter 186
At the PC Cafe, Eugene tells Gray that his aunt is stressed about the noise and dust, and the installed storage container across from her vet clinic is a complete mess. Gray asks if there is time left to submit propositions for resident policies, and Eugene confirms that there is. Gray gathers some info.
Chapter 188
Eugene finds out he’s a finalist in the science and invention competition and excitedly informs Gray. He says he’ll treat him to Ttosikki Chicken after they’re done with cram school. On the way to Ttosikki Chicken, Eugene recalls Teddy and Alex saying they’ll both be doing something at the festival. He mentions that the teacher said that he should be in charge of lighting the festival, so he can test his light prototype ahead of time. Gray says it’ll look great on Eugene’s college application and says he’s going to be entering the academic quiz game.
Chapter 191
Gray says that Eugene might be interviewed for a local newspaper or two. He remembers a weirdo who went around doing interviews once. Eugene notices Lily passing by and recognizes her as from their cram school. He says she looks really flustered. Gray and Eugene ask her what’s wrong. Lily asks if they’ve seen a bunch of guys taking a girl somewhere. Teddy tells them that they went into the karaoke place and that things seemed pretty serious when he saw them. Gray and Eugene offer to go with Lily and she accepts.
Chapters 192-193
Gray grabs the microphone and tests to see if it’s on. Eugene thinks that no matter how outnumbered he is, Gray can flip the script in just one blow. Gray knocks down every single Jailbreak member in the room.
Eugene thinks that they need to end it once and for all. Even though Gray has knocked them down, Jailbreak will still get back up and fight. No one can top Gray’s momentum in a fight, but his one weakness is his disadvantage when being ganged up on. He decides to cover Gray’s weakness by channeling his inner Rowan. Eugene reveals that Gray is the White Mamba and terrifies Jailbreak.
Chapter 203
Gray helps Eugene with his math work. He points out the mistake Eugene made and helps him correct it.
Chapter 215
Eugene shows Gray that the contract bid selection result for the streetlight construction in the redevelopment zone is Daegwang Industries. He remembers Ilhwan Hi-Tech giving him a bunch of parts because they’re going out of business since none of their proposals ever get selected, nor do they win any bids. Eugene doesn’t want to keep on bugging Gray so he decides to figure it out on his own.
At home, Eugene researches places with cheap but high quality materials, such as Songmin Steel and Ilhwan Hi-Tech, while Daegwang charges more even though their steel plates are too thin and don’t meet quality standards. Eugene decides to attach a carefully built price chart of all the local businesses and suggest how to use the money more efficiently.
Eugene’s proposal is passed right away and the revised documents are sent. Gray is stunned because it is a straightforward approach that gets to the heart of the matter. He knows it won’t be easy for the policy to actually be applied because there are too many interests involved. Gray recalls finding out some things while helping Eugene. The companies with connections won the bids. It is clear who is abusing the system and who is profiting from it, and it’s clear that one of the pillars is the Union. The victims are the hardworking local business owners whose livelihoods depend on their work.
Chapter 219-220
Gray asks why Eugene isn’t at cram school and Rowan informs him that he’s helping with the light at Ttosikki. They decide to stop by Ttosikki to see Eugene and eat some chicken. On the way to Ttosikki, Gray and Rowan pass by the alley, but Gray suddenly turns around. He sees Eugene and shakily calls his name.
Gray requests for Rowan to gather up the parts and to let the gang know. He deduces that, based on the brand of cigarette and the gum, the culprit is Dongha Baek. He tells Rowan to take care of Eugene while he kills Dongha.
Gray finds Dongha in another alley. Dongha asks who he is and Gray gives him a deadly glare.
Chapter 221-22
Dongha tells Gray to leave, but Gray throws a rock at Dongha’s hands. Gray demands to know if it is Dongha who has attacked Eugene. The sound of Gray’s cold voice flusters Dongha for a moment. Dongha realizes that Gray is talking about Eugene and says he’ll fuck Gray up even worse.
Dongha charges at Gray but Gray slams the nearby door open into him and kicks him in the face. He dodges Dongha’s kick and smacks him in the jaw with the traffic cone. He kicks Dongha in the stomach and throws the cone at him. Dongha wonders why he can’t see Gray’s moves even though Gray isn’t that fast. He angrily shouts that he’s going to kill him. Gray calmly asks why Dongha is yelling and tells him to shut the fuck up.
Gray overpowers Dongha, who struggles as he tries to buy time until Seongmok Do gets there. Gray asks what’s wrong and why Dongha has stopped laughing like a lunatic. He says if Dongha’s target hadn’t been Eugene, he would’ve brought Seongmok with him; since Eugene doesn’t know how to fight, Dongha came alone.
Chapters 226-227
Gray escapes Hwangmo’s hold and beats him up. He leaves to go back to the alley where Dongha is. Gray arrives and walks past Wolf; Wolf notes how Gray doesn’t even see him and only sees Dongha, reminding Wolf of himself. Gray continues beating up Dongha when Wolf says he won’t stop him. Gray says he will make it so Dongha can never look at him and Eugene in the eyes again, so that he trembles at the mere thought of him. Gray recalls how he had beaten Oswald Yang and Bryce Oh back in middle school. He refuses to let his friends suffer like Stephen had.
As Gray continues to brutally beat Dongha, Seongmok calls out in a scratchy voice to not hit his friend. Wolf stomps on Seongmok's head and tells him to not interfere because Gray isn't going to stop until Dongha’s dead. Alex arrives and holds Gray back and tells him that it’s enough. He says that Rowan took Eugene to the hospital and he’s going to be okay.
Chapter 228
Gray is at Sunny Hospital and sits by Eugene’s bedside. He closes the curtains the same way Eugene had done for him when he had slept in the classroom before school started. He places the broken parts of Eugene’s device into a paper bag.
Eugene’s aunt, Dr. Kim, gives Gray a box. She says Eugene had bought it a while ago because he felt bad for always being on the receiving end of his help. Gray opens the box, revealing a pair of gloves and a note from Eugene saying for him to wear them when he’s cold. Eugene is comatose due to the psychological damage.
Chapter 230
Wolf Keum agrees to ally with the Union to fight Jake Ji. Alex doesn't trust Wolf, but Gray reminds him that they're going up against Donald and the Union; they need all the manpower they can get. Eugene has shown them that Donald isn't infallible.
Chapter 232
Gray confronts Donald Na and demands to know the reason why he sent people after Eugene and also wants an apology. He wants Donald to swear to never mess with Eunjang again and in return, Eunjang will leave the Union alone. Donald is unimpressed and asks if Gray’s here to play childish games. Gray points out how the Union is playing games with uniforms, building projects, and real estate. He asks if people’s lives are next.
Chapter 233
Gray is the last to arrive to the Rebellion’s final meeting and wears the gloves Eugene had gifted him.
Chapter 253
While fighting against Donald Na, Gray says Donald didn’t knock him down and that he lured him in front of the HI YEOUIDO sign on purpose. He activates Eugene’s repaired prototype switch, blinding everyone within the area with the lights of the HI YEOUIDO sign. It is revealed that on the medical records Donald had at Yeouido Hospital that Donald has photosensitivity. Donald huddles instinctively to block blows from his right, but his left arm has taken so many blows that it didn’t come up to protect his chin. Gray is able to land a direct blow with his elbow to Donald’s face.
Chapter 265
Gray hallucinates a darker version of himself in his reflection who blames him for everything. Gray begins to cry and Dark Gray mocks him and tells him that Eugene, Stephen, and even Donald were all put in bad situations because of him. Gray is sweating while shifting around in bed, constantly denying that he is at fault.
Chapter 266
At the hospital, Eugene has finally woken up and holds his prototype light switch model. He is surprised because it had been completely broken. Rowan says it seemed like it was important, so he brought it with him. Rowan recalls Gray telling him that the light switch was important to Eugene and to take care of it. He also recalls how the light had been used to temporarily blind Donald.
Ben mentions that since Eugene and Gray aren’t at school, it’s been feeling empty lately. Eugene recalls all the times he had hung out with Gray. He thinks that becoming Gray’s friend was the biggest miracle of his life. As soon as he gets discharged from the hospital, Eugene plans on visiting Gray immediately.

Eugene is Gray’s first friend at Eunjang High School. He is the first person who reached out to Gray and attempted to befriend him. Eugene also reminds Gray of his best friend from middle school, Stephen Ahn. Even before Eugene and Gray became friends, Eugene showed concern and actively tried to protect and help Gray.
Eugene also starts taking studying seriously because of Gray. He enrolls into Hero Cram School based on Gray’s advice. Gray also helps him study. When Teddy needs to bring Co to the vet, Eugene has Alex bring him to the Singil Vet instead of bringing Teddy there himself because Gray gets mad if he misses his classes. When Lily is in trouble, Eugene goes with Gray to help her, despite knowing that it’s a dangerous situation that will most likely escalate into a fight.
Gray becomes furious after finding out that Dongha had beaten Eunjang into a coma. For the first and only time in the series, he has to be held back from going too far and killing Dongha. Gray even resorts to allying himself with former enemies such as Colton, Phillip, and Wolf in order to even the numbers against the Union.
Some fans ship Gray and Eugene romantically. Eugene considers Gray to be pretty like a girl, like many characters. In Chapter 43, when Eugene thinks of Gray, he thinks of him with cherry blossoms in the background.
