No! Having no idea what you were born for... I can't let someone die with those last words!
—Atsushi to Sigma while refusing to let go of his hand

SigmAtsu is the slash ship between Sigma and Atsushi Nakajima from the Bungou Stray Dogs fandom.

Canon[]

After Sigma's defeat in the fight against Teruko, Sigma is falling off the casino; this leads Atsushi to jump and grab him. The rope that ties him to the log snaps but they fall on top of a box with the electric power installations. Atsushi gets up and tells him to be careful, saying that if he falls from there it will really be the end for them. Sigma notes that Atsushu is from the agency and asks why he saved him, to which Atsushi says that it should be clear as he intends to save the agency and to be able to do so he will need the page to which Sigma knows the whereabouts of.

Sigma asks, “Even if I knew... do you think I'd tell you up front?" to which Atsushi he does and presents Ango on the screen of the phone in a video call with them. Ango says he can get the information using his ability and Sigma tells him that he has already measures against it. To that, Ango threatens to torture him to get the information as he has no intentions of making allowances for the man who stabbed Chief Taneda. Sigma slumps and expresses that he did not wish to do so and that it was just a threat. After that, Sigma tells Atsushi to ask him anything, as he was already tired, and that at the end of the day he still hasn't figured out why he was born, to which Atsushi gave him a worried look.

Ango once again speaks up and tells Atsushi the last task of his is to escort Sigma to the mainland, but before they can go, Hawthorne appears there and attacks Sigma, causing him to fall off the premises but Atsushi manages to grab his hand and hold onto the edge. Atsushi yells at him to hang on and holds hand desperately, and Sigma says that it's okay and he already imagined it would end up like this. Hawthorne once again strikes at Atsushi this time and the two fall, but Atsushi holds on to the bar using his tiger's tail. Sigma tells Atsushi to let him go, warning the latter of his death if he doesn't, but Atsushi screams saying that he can't let his last words be, "I never understood what I was born for”, sympathizing with Sigma and refusing to let him die. Sigma says he's kind, and that it's okay because he did what an ordinary person could, then he let go of Atsushi's hand and smiled at him as he fell.

In the end Atsushi was saved by Lucy, and Sigma by Nikolai.

Fanon[]

As a romantic ship, SigmAtsu is on the rarer side in the fandom and less common. The ship does have a decent amount of works and in a lot of it, they depict them being extremely sweet/intimate with each other or in AU's where Sigma ends up with the ADA. Its biggest rival ships are Shin Soukoku and Sigzai. On A03, the ship currently has over 79+ works written.

As a platonic ship, SigmAtsu is popular and often discussed in the fandom due to Atsushi and Sigma's intentional similarities and parallels. Many believe if they were not on opposing sides, they would get along very well due to the respect they had for each other and Atsushi empathizing with Sigma despite him being an enemy.
