Sigurdeirdre is the het ship between Sigurd and Deirdre from the Fire Emblem fandom.
Canon[]
Meeting in Verdane[]
It all starts in the Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War events, on the continent of Jugdral. Sigurd is the scion of the house of Chalphy, the son and heir of Duke Byron and a descendant of the Crusader Baldr. Deirdre is the secret daughter of the late Cigyun and crown Prince Kurth of Grannvale, possessing her father's full Naga Holy Blood as well as the minor Loptous holy blood of her mother. As a living descendant of Saint Maera and a bearer of the 'cursed' Loptous bloodline, Deirdre lived much of her life secluded in the Spirit Forest of Verdane under close observation.
In Grann 757, just when Sigurd captured the Marpha castle in the Verdane region, he met a beautiful lady who was captured by the bandit Gandolf. Just when Sigurd saw her for the first time, he instantly fell in love with her. However, though instantly stricken with an interest in Sigurd, that lady escaped from Marpha to the Spirit Forest not only because she did not trust him at first, but also because she had been told to stay away from any man to prevent her descendants from being born with her bloodline who was considered cursed.
However, in the forest she felt a bit lonely, so she decided to gather her courage and decided to help Sigurd and his army to fight against Sandima, their common enemy. Very soon Sigurd realizes that she was the same lady he had seen her before in Marpha. Later, as Sigurd's army marched into the Spirit Forest toward Verdane Castle, now controlled by lord Sandima of the Loptr Church, she appeared before him to offer her Silence staff in order to counter Sandima's powerful dark magic, and to confess her strong love for him. The two married after Sandima's defeat and the reclamation of the territory of Verdane. For a time, they lived together in Castle Evans in the Verdane region until the soldiers of Agustria declared war on Sigurd.
During the War in Agustria[]
King Chagall and his soldiers of Agustria were angry that Sigurd and his army of Grannvale attacked the region of Verdane and took all its castles, so they decide to avenge their fallen ally. Hearing this, Deirdre informs Sigurd of the situation and helps him in defeating his enemies by attacking them, with her knowledge of light magic as if she were just another soldier in the army. Together with the army, they captured almost all the castles of Agustria in the following order: Heirhein, Anphony, Mackily. They did not attack Nordion castle because his army was commanded by Eldigan, Sigurd's best friend. After this, Sigurd and Deirdre decide to live in a newly captured castle. There, Sigurd impregnates Deirdre, and she gives birth to the future hero: Seliph.
Forced Separation, Abduction and Death[]
Some time after Seliph's birth, while Sigurd's army departed to combat the sudden violence from Agustria's King Chagall, Deirdre stayed behind in the Castle to take care of Seliph. Some time into the conflict, she felt suddenly compelled to leave the fortress and see Sigurd, and departed to do so, entrusting Seliph to her retainer prince Shannan; however, she was intercepted by the sorcerer Manfroy, who hypnotized and abducted her.
Upon learning of this, Sigurd felt he was losing his beloved wife with whom he had his true love, although he had no idea that Manfroy was the one who forcibly separated her from him taking advantage of the fact that she was alone on her way to try to meet Sigurd at Madino Castle, then Manfroy would brainwash her and then force her to marry another, in this case, Lord Arvis, as part of his plans to revive the dark dragon Loptyr.
Sigurd, who had had already captured the entire region of Agustria and decided to defend the region from pirate attacks. However, Sigurd was very worried wondering about Deirdre and also at that time, he learns that he is falsely accused of being a traitor of Grannvale in a ploy to weaken his power. Fortunately for him, the Pegasus Knights came to his aid to help him and his army escape towards the allied kingdom of Silesse.
Once in Silesse, Sigurd still searched everywhere for Deirdre as he fought against the Grannvale rebels who accused him of being a traitor, but could not find her anywhere. Later, before returning to Grannvale, Sigurd receives the Tyrfing sword from his father. He fought Andrey and Langbalt at Lubeck Castle, and after capturing it he tasked Oifey and Shannan with taking the infant Seliph, as well as a few other children from his army, and finding refuge in Isaach, since Sigurd did not want to lose his own son that he had with his favorite wife. He crossed a desert defeating the enemies who tried to prevent his return, starting the Battle of Belhalla. He launched an attack on Reptor, who was responsible for initiating the accusation against Sigurd himself. To his surprise, Velthomer's Arvis subordinates betrayed Reptor and helped Sigurd defeat him.
Following the fight's end, the general Aida told Sigurd that prince Arvis had been on his side all along and that he awaited Sigurd's return in Belhalla, the capital of Grannvale. Hearing the good news, Sigurd led his army to Belhalla, where Arvis instead sentenced him and his entire army to death, falsely accusing him for their crimes of treason and the alleged murder of crown prince Kurth, Deirdre's actual father (when in reality the one who killed him was Reptor). Added to that, in the same fated encounter Arvis introduced Sigurd to his new wife, Deirdre, who was confused by a strange feeling of familiarity with the man, but was taken away by Arvis's men before she could sort her thoughts. Sigurd was confused and pained at seeing how Deirdre no longer remembered him, but before he could do anything Arvis had Deirdre taken back to the castle and ordered his men to execute Sigurd's army. Sigurd was personally killed by Arvis with a blast of Valflame.
Years later into her marriage with Arvis, Deirdre eventually did learn of her former marriage to Sigurd, though she never recovered her memories; even so, she didn't hate Arvis for his role in killing Sigurd. Deirdre still lived to the second generation becoming the new empress of Grannvale and giving birth to two children with her second husband: Julius and Julia.
Years later, when Manfroy presented Julius with the Loptous tome, the young boy become possessed by the dark dragon and he subsequently attempted to kill his sister Julia, but Deirdre attempted to protect her daughter from Julius. With the last of her strength, she warped Julia as far away from Julius as possible, but was herself killed by her own, putting up no resistance, to try to atone for her own perceived 'sins'.
Post-Death[]
Very little was known after the deaths of Sigurd and Deirdre, but they make a guest appearance in the second generation.
When Seliph, now 17 years old, managed to avenge his father's death by personally killing Arvis at the edge of his Tyrfing sword, in his liberation war, Seliph was visited by Sigurd and Deirdre's ghosts. Sigurd's ghost warned Seliph to understand the suffering of the common people and not take all the credit for Arvis's defeat. Deirdre's ghost said she was proud of how Seliph had grown up, but worried about Julia and Julius, and showed no pleasure to know of her Arvis death.

Seliph Baldos Chalphy
Known simply as Seliph, he is the only child of Sigurd and Deirdre, heir of the house of Calphy but was stripped of his land, and has the right to Grannvale throne through his mother who is daugther of the late crown prince Kurth. He is the hero who was raised secretly on Isaach as a simple orphan, and upon learning of the death of his parents, vowed revenge on Arvis' empire by killing their emperor personally. After taking Belhalla, he helped his half-sister Julia defeat Julius and his newly revived Loptyr, bringing peace that would last for many years in Jugdral and becoming it's next ruler.
Fanon[]
Heroes turned this ship and other ships from older games quite known in the western fanbase, even though the game was never released on West. Most of the fans who are really invested on this shipping are Japanese though, because the game where its story takes place was distributed only in Japan, more than two decades ago.
The ship would be more popular if the game had been distributed all over the world. This pairing is considered to had served as a inspiration to the Chrobin relationship in Fire Emblem Awakening, and to some extent to Chrolivia. The pairing is very liked due to the fairy tale feeling, even though it gets some criticism due to how quickly Sigurd fell in love and speculations of how deep their love or if their romance was just moved by juvenile lust. The main competitor for the ship is Deirdre and Arvis (Arvidre), who is her second husband with whose she stayed married for the rest of her life.
