Silent Rusting is the slash ship between Tassita and Rusty from the Starlight Express fandom.
Canon[]
Act 1[]
Rusty arrives and announces his intentions to race, and begins singing "Crazy". Tassita and the other coaches take center stage and laugh a bit before singing back up for him. Tassita then pulls out a little flag with Rusty's emblem on it, as he and the other coaches skate around Rusty. Tassita ending up behind him as they let him take center. Tassita then follows Dinah who follows Rusty around the track, till they're back in the center. Tassita then goes around Rusty and kneals, striking a pose with him and the other coaches as the song comes to an end.
The other engine's then come forward to make fun of Rusty, who takes Tassita's hand to help him up. Tassita tells them all to leave Rusty alone, which Rusty hopes they all listen to. The coaches then leave, and Rusty goes to follow but is stopped by the other engine's. Tassita and the other coaches then discuss how Rusty assumes he's going to win, with Tassita pointing out how much bigger everyone else is, as well as them all agreeing that he's not as fast. Tassita still unable to believe that Rusty would think he could win the race, and flinching when Greaseball is about to hit him.
After the coaches give Pearl some confidence, Rusty returns and tells them it's time they got moving. He gets distracted by Pearl, which Tassita and the other coaches notice. Tassita noting his pause and telling him to take them to work.

Silent Rusting is a rarepair in the StEx fandom. Mostly due to the two not interacting much after the first half of the show. Though even those that don't ship it note how there's a lot of untapped potential within the ship, and even with the relationship overall. The ship name comes from Tassita being a quiet car who prefers silence and Rusty's name. Its rival ships include Prusty and Quidrogen.
Some fans think that they may have small crushes on each other. Nothing close to being in love, but enough that they think the other is cute. Others think that they may be amicable exes, with them still deciding to be friends after they broke up.
