Season 1[]

Act II[]

Skyvik S1 1

Sky walking past Viktor with a giddy expression.

In Episode 4, the audience meets Sky. She first appears behind Viktor and Jayce backstage, where Jayce encourages Viktor to join him upstage for his speech, to which Viktor declines. Hesitantly, Sky walks past Viktor with a giddy expression, clutching the clipboard to her chest with a smirk as Viktor looks upon her with an impassive expression.

Skyvik S1 2

Sky reassuring Viktor before asking to walk home together.

In Episode 5, Sky finds Viktor working on the Hexcore alone in the laboratory late at night. She compliments the beauty of the Hexcore, but Viktor can only say that he cannot solve it, to which Sky replies that he will. She shyly offers to walk home with him, but he insists that he will sleep in the laboratory again, prompting her to express concern. Viktor bids her goodnight with his back to her. Sky's eyes flicker briefly, a pensive expression before she silently leaves the lab, leaving the scientist to work alone. Presumably, not long after Sky's departure, Viktor falls ill and passes out in the lab, later waking up in the hospital.

Skyvik S1 (3)

Sky and Viktor meeting for the first time as children.

In Episode 6, a glimpse of Viktor's childhood is shown. A young Viktor sits by a stream, having just built a small mechanical boat. Suddenly, a shadow looms over him from a stone ledge — a curious young Sky peers down at what he has built. Both children stare at one another; Sky is curious about the young boy's invention, while Viktor gazes up timidly at her before activating the boat. As it whirs to life, the young boy's eyes flash to Sky with a nervous glance. The young girl's brow raises at the invention. However, their brief encounter ends quickly when the other children call for Sky. Prompted to join the other children, Sky quickly turns around and begins climbing up the rocks, not before looking at the boy over her shoulder with a smile and then scurrying off and leaving a young Viktor alone, who would soon meet Singed. This sequence finishes with Viktor sitting in his "Steel Oasis," looking down at the location where he had initially met Sky. Ruminating about his childhood after his prognosis.

Act III[]

Skyvik S1 (9)

Sky attempting to save Viktor.

Episode 8 shows Sky working up the courage to talk with Viktor again, hoping to show a project she's been working on. Sky practices how to present her work to the scientist, her scenes juxtaposed with Viktor preparing to experiment on his body again with the Hexcore. Before opening the lab door, Sky sighed that everything Viktor did inspired her. Later, she opened the door to find Viktor in danger with the Hexcore. Urgently, Sky calls out to Viktor as she runs and grabs the man, struggling to pull him from the Hexcore's grip. Attempts to pull him away are futile as it pulls him back and begins absorbing Sky. Finally realizing that Sky is there, Viktor looks in horror as she is absorbed and vaporized by the Hexcore before the room fills with a burst of light. Dazed and lying on the ground, Viktor quickly spots Sky's glasses and crawls to them in panic, exclaiming out in terror as he looks at the ashes scattered across the lab floor.

Skyvik S1 (14)

Viktor reading Sky's diary.

We later return to Viktor in episode 9, who is devastated at Sky's death and sobs while holding her glasses. Viktor then notices Sky's journal on the ground, picks it up, gently opens it, and begins reading her notes. Sky's voice plays over as Viktor reads her notes, revealing how she's admired him and his efforts to make the world a better place; her voice plays over as it shows Viktor crawling on the floor to gather the pages, reading them before clutching a page to his chest and sobbing. Tears stain her notes as he reads over them; Viktor's grief turns to anger as he glances toward the Hexcore. Viktor would ultimately attempt to destroy the Hexcore over Sky's death; however, he cannot do it himself.

Skyvik S1 16

Viktor sitting at the ledge with Sky's notebook and glasses.

Later in the episode, we would see Viktor at his Steel Oasis. Viktor sits at the edge, legs dangling off, while Sky's journal and glasses sit beside him and the urn he used to house her ashes. Gently, Viktor holds the urn, apologizing in a broken voice, stating he's not sure where she would've preferred her ashes to be spread. Viktor mutters another defeated apology before spreading her ashes off the edge and dropping the urn. Viktor attempts to jump off the ledge but is interrupted by Jayce. Viktor quickly tucks Sky's journal under his arm, hiding it from Jayce's view as he sits beside him, and they begin to reminisce about their past. Viktor makes Jayce promise to destroy the Hexcore, as the loss of Sky made Viktor realize how he failed himself and his promise to help people; this would also mean dooming Viktor to accept his looming death from his prognosis.

Season 2[]

Act I[]

Skyvik(19)

Viktor looking over Jayce's shoulder, seeing Sky.

In episode 2, Viktor is awoken by the sound of Sky yelling his name. After escaping the Hexcore cocoon, Viktor reunited and conversed with Jayce for the first time since the explosion. He argued against Jayce using the Hexcore to save him, admitting to him that the Hexcore had killed Sky. Just as he said this, he looked over Jayce’s shoulder, seeing Sky leaning on the desk, smiling at him, tracing her hand over her notebook. He then walked towards the desk, tracing his hand over her notebook, taking it with him, before leaving for the undercity for good.

Skyvik(15)

Viktor smiling, looking up at Sky after healing Huck

In the same episode, we see him wander through the streets of Zaun being guided by footprints and Sky’s voice. It leads him to the slums, which is where he establishes his commune. After healing Huck, they both fall to their knees, and when Viktor looks up, he sees Sky placing her hand on Huck’s shoulder, looking down at Viktor proudly. Viktor then smiles at her.

Act II[]

Skyvik(3)

Sky appearing alongside Viktor in the astral realm

Episode 6 starts with Viktor and Sky conversing in the astral realm about Jayce killing Salo. It is revealed that Sky and Viktor have been working together, exploring the arcane while establishing the commune. Sky is still only visible to Viktor, but we see her throughout the episode. After Jinx, Vi, Isha, and Vander arrived at his commune seeking help, Viktor attempts to reach Vander’s mind before being kicked out by the beast. This is where Sky appears once more, reminding him, “You once told me, all systems have limits.”

Skyvik(6)

Sky and Viktor traveling together inside Vander's mind

Sky and Viktor then work together to help bring Vander’s humanity back. This entire segment shows them traveling together through the astral realm while “Remember Me (Intro)” plays. After one of their sessions with Vander, they both notice Viktor’s powers seem to be weakening. We see Sky with a worried expression. This is when Viktor reunites with Singed, and after a disagreement between the two, we see Sky gently hold his arm as Singed walked away. This was the last time we saw her in this episode.

Act III[]

Skyvik(18)

Sky and Viktor holding hands as Sky's hands disintegrate

In episode 8, Viktor is visibly weakened. However, he makes one final attempt to convince Jayce to be his partner in bringing the glorious evolution to the world; however, Jayce rejects this and manages to defeat him in battle. Sky attempts to hold his hand in the astral realm to comfort him, yet he pulls away and tells Singed to "begin the process."

Skyvik Still (18)

Sky fading away

The scene resumed later on, where we saw them for the last time in the astral realm. Sky holds his hand, guiding him to stand up. Her body is slowly disintegrating as Singed begins his transformation. Sky bids him farewell, to which Viktor replies that he thanks her for the company she lent him and that he will miss their talks. Sky dismisses him with a slightly distorted voice, "No, you won't." Sky then disappears for good, as "The Line" begins playing.

League of Legends[]

League and Arcane were separate universes even post-season 1, until an Official Riot Dev Update[1] on October 13th, 2023, Riot would merge storytelling from both mediums into a single, unified canon storyline. This announcement would confirm that Arcane serves as the base foundation for the new canon lore of League of Legends, and it states in the blog how Arcane also acts as the origin story of Hextech. This announcement would also confirm that events within the show are not only canon but also characters from the show.

The confirmation of Arcane becoming canon also canonizes the Arcane skins for the champions within League of Legends, as each skin references specific events within the show or acknowledges characters not directly in the game. Arcane Savior Viktor possesses four voice lines[2] that involve him directly talking to Sky in various movements. While Sky is not visible or directly in the game, this integrates her within the game, similarly to Isolde for Viego.[3] Despite being an integral part of Viego's lore, she did not show up in-game until September 9th, 2022, in his King Viego skin, where she appears in the recall animation[4], despite this champion's initial release being January 21st, 2021.

Viktor LoL Character

Viktor's in-game model.

Sky's first hinted-at presence within League of Legends would be revealed via an easter egg during the Bridge of Progress event[5] celebrating the launch of Season 2 after patch V14.22 and was available until January 8th. This easter egg would come in the form of Sky's glasses and notebook, which are visible on a crate by the shopkeeper on the Piltover side of the map.

Viktor's updated model also adorns the same sigil seen on the cover of Sky's notebook; the same sigil later turned into a brooch pinned onto his cloak that can be seen in season 2, episode 6.

Viktor's newly released bio vaguely mentions Sky's death, while her name is not directly mentioned. Heavy implications suggest this excerpt refers to the events in season 1, episode 8.

Resolving to hide his plans, he experimented alone, until he ultimately lost control of the hexcore. According to two verified sources within the Academy (see Appendix H for full transcripts) it seems that some loss of life occurred as a result, though details are notably vague.

Behind the Scenes[]

  • In a livestream by Not-So-Average-Fangirl featuring Amanda Overton, co-writer and co-executive producer, shared insights into Sky Young’s feelings toward Viktor.“She saw him and, you know, Jayce didn’t really see [Viktor] in Season One for what he was–but Sky was able to see Viktor and for who he was” showing how deeply Sky valued Viktor.[7]
  • In a Not-So-Average-Fangirl livestream, featuring Amanda Overton, Amanda Overton confirmed that Sky Young had romantic feelings for Viktor, saying, “--and yeah, she had a little crush on him.” She further explained that the personal project Sky mentioned in Episode 6, Season 1, Overton said, “I think her hope was that they would start working on her [project] together and you know maybe that would blossom into something.”
  • Amanda Overton discussed Sky’s romantic feelings for Viktor and how she hoped their relationship could grow into something more. Amanda Overton added, “--but he unfortunately–Viktor was not in a place to receive that.” This leaves fans to wonder whether Viktor might have accepted her feelings if he had been in a better state of mind.

Fanon[]

Since Season 1, Episode 4, fans speculated that Sky might have romantic feelings for Viktor, noting how she looked at him as she walked by. Later, in Season 1, Episode 8, Viktor discovers what appears to be Sky’s love letter to him after her death. This moment marked the start of “SkyVik” and became even more meaningful when fans noticed the little girl looking down at young Viktor in Episode 6 was Sky. This gave their relationship more depth, with fans seeing it as a “Childhood Friends to Lovers” story.

In Season 2, Sky and Viktor interacted more, which boosted the ship's popularity. While fans have different interpretations of Sky’s identity in Season 2, most agree that she and Viktor grew much closer, with Sky showing physical affection toward him. Their relationship is viewed among fans as a lab romance, as they worked together, with Sky acting as his assistant. In Season 2, they grew closer while bonding over their scientific discoveries.

Tyler Joseph, the singer and lyricist for “The Line” in Arcane, shared that he was sent a scene from the show to write the lyrics. This scene shows Viktor and Warwick’s transformation. Tyler explained that he based the lyrics on the visuals and his personal experience. Since the scene includes Sky disappearing for good, fans believe some of the lyrics are about Sky and Viktor. The lyric “Did I disappoint you?” is strongly believed to be about Sky, as it plays precisely when Sky’s disappointed look is shown in the music video. Also, the line “Stay your pretty eyes on course” is theorized to portray Viktor’s feelings towards Sky since we see a close-up of her eyes before she disappears.

Sky and Viktor’s story has been tragic from the beginning, and fans were even more heartbroken when it became clear that Sky was the only one who truly understood Viktor and accepted him for who he was, even when he couldn’t. It was only when he realized this revolution that it was too late. Fans find the ending to their story even more painful, believing that Sky represents the last bit of Viktor’s humanity, suggesting she is the only reason he still has any.

It’s confirmed that Sky has romantic feelings for Viktor, but Viktor’s feelings remain unclear, as fans can only guess. Since both are presumed dead, it’s uncertain if Riot will ever explore whether their feelings were mutual in a spin-off or within League of Legends.

Trivia[]

  • The brooch on Viktor's cape that first appears in episode 6 is heavily implied to be Sky's sigil from her notebook.
  • Sky seems to have gone through a visual update between season 1 and season 2. Her features have been slightly tweaked. This is never really explained in the show itself.
  • The little girl in Viktor's flashback in the beginning of episode 6, season 1 is Sky.
  • Sky is the only Zaunite shown in the show who has a last name.
  • On Necrit's post-season 2 live-stream, which featured Christian Linke (Arcane’s co-creator, showrunner, and executive producer) and Harry Lloyd (Viktor’s voice actor), a viewer asked Harry Lloyd about his thoughts on Sky. He responded with, “I love her, and I feel bad.”[8]
  • Amanda Overton, lead writer, held an ask me anything on twitter back in 2021. She was asked by a viewer “Viktor was lucky enough to be helped by Heimer, so how did Sky get in?” Amanda responded with “People from the undercity can get into the Academy since it’s technically a meritocracy, it’s just practically much harder for them. I like to think Viktor helped Sky get her position because he remembered her and recognized her talent.”[9]
