Sleeping Steamer is the het ship between Memphis Belle and Poppa McCoy from the Starlight Express fandom.

Rusty comes to Poppa and tells him about his situation with Pearl, and how he has no coach. Poppa tells him to look around to get Rusty to notice Belle. Rusty dismisses her, but she wakes up and introduces herself as Belle the sleeping car. Poppa, Rusty and the freight sit and listen to her sing as she tries to get Rusty to pick her as his partner. Rusty doesn't have hope and Poppa starts to sing of the Starlight Express, Belle joining in with him. Wrapping her arm in his as she does. Later, Poppa sings "Light at the End of the Tunnel" to explain the merits of steam. Belle joins him as they continue to explain its history and all the way it's better than other trains.

Sleeping Steamer is a common ship in the StEx fandom. Mostly from fans of the original west end production. With many fans theorizing that the two are a couple, most often due to many of the implications that surround racing partners in the show. As many of the main ones are romantically involved. This led many to believe that Poppa and Belle are a couple. Also fueled by the two being the only older trains in the show. Some believe that they're also Rusty's parents. Though this is disproven by canon, given that Belle is introduced to Rusty in the show itself. After Belle was taken out of the show, many fans still kept her in fics. Either mentioning her as an old partner of Poppa's or having her still just be around.
It is unknown how popular the ship is on AO3, due to the Momma and Poppa tags being combined into one. It can be assumed that it is the most written ship for both Belle and Poppa.
