Sleeping Steamers is the poly ship between Memphis Belle, Poppa McCoy and Momma McCoy from the Starlight Express fandom.
Canon[]
There is no production where Momma, Poppa and Belle all exist at the same time. As Belle was phased out of all shows by 1992, and Poppa was replaced by Momma in 2018. Belle was Poppa's racing partner back before the events of the show, who Poppa calls upon to race with Rusty. Momma and Poppa hold the same place within the show, but Momma was created to replace Poppa as a way of adding more female characters to the show. At the end of the show, Belle would sing "Light at the End of the Tunnel" with Poppa. Momma sings the same song at the end of the show solo.

Sleeping Steamers is a rareship in the StEx fandom. Mostly due to there being no production where all three exist at the same time. More often than not fans would ship Belle with Poppa in the original production, due to her being his former racing coach. When she was cut from the show, fans still believed that she existed in universe as Poppa's former coach, but was just not there for the race. This idea then extended to Momma when she replaced Poppa in the show. Many fans believing that she and Belle were either formally together or still are. That she's just not around for the events of the show.
Some fans believe that all three exist within the same universe, which leads to shipping the two. That Belle was previously in a relationship with both steamers during their racing days. Others believe that Poppa and Momma were in a relationship together and Belle was added in later. With the three all officially being together. Some of this does extend to the three possibly all being Rusty's parents. With them all being a family. Many fans like this idea due to the three all being mentor figures for Rusty in the show itself. This is what led to the original theory that Poppa and Belle were Rusty's parents, which then extended to Momma as well.
