SmileX is the slash ship between Smile and Hero X from the To Be Hero X fandom.

Civilian X's coworkers are discussing Smile's live interview from yesterday. Smile talked about how he felt when he played against X in the Heroes Tournament last year. In the interview, Smile said "I heard a snap and then I found myself in front of the moon. That's right, the moon."

Episode 21[]
Smile poses as a delivery driver late at night and goes to Civilian X's apartment. X is at first confused when Smile, whose face is hidden by a motorcycle helmet, enters his apartment. Smile removes his helmet and X notes that last time he had worn a mask, indicating it isn't the first time he has shown up unannounced. Smile tells him he's being secretive so as to not expose X's identity. X brings the skewers and beers to the living room. X asks why he is visiting and Smile tell him on a lonesome night, a lonesome man can only find another lonesome man as his company.
X says he's not lonely and likes being alone. Smile says his realistic self is too realistic and suggests Civilian X transforms into his hero form to chat with him, but Civilian X declines due to being against overtime. X drinks and eats alongside Smile. Smile warns X that the Hero Commission wants to remove Hero X from his pedestal this tournament. X says he wants to quit and go back to living a normal life already. X mentions sincerely admiring Smile for being able to be a hero with a smile for years.
After they both get drunk, Smile admits to being in pain on the inside. He opens up to X about crying alone in the middle of the night. X doesn't believe him since he's still smiling. In response, Smile starts taking his shirt off but X stops him. Smile is also confused and wonders why he was stripping. X jokingly suggests using that stripping move to defeat him in the ranking matches.
X notices Smile's pendant and Smile says his wife bought it for him to match with their daughter. Smile explains that while he's always smiling at other kids, he never has time to look at and smile at his own daughter. He mentions how his daughter is all grown up and they don't connect much after she moved out. He asks if it's painful for him, but X has fallen asleep. Smile tucks X into bed before leaving.
Episode 22[]
Civilian X wakes up from the commotion of Smile, Nice, and Dragon Boy fighting. He transforms into his hero form and defeats Dragon Boy. When he goes to check on Smile, he discovers the latter has died with a smile on his face. He picks up the purple necklace Dragon Boy had stolen and recognizes it as the one that belongs to Smile's daughter.
Episode 24[]
Civilian X finishes work for the day and on the way home, he buys two cans of beer and a bunch of kebabs. Once he arrives at his apartment, he opens both cans and clinks them together, trying to cheer with Smile who always dropped by with beer and skewers.

Fanon[]
Fans ship Smile and X because Smile is X's friend. Smile knows X's civilian identity and takes precautions to not expose it whenever he wants to hang out with him. Smile has also dropped by late at night unannounced at least twice and X lets him in both times. Smile has showed concern over X's safety and warned him of the Commission's plan. Smile began to randomly strip in front of X, which confuses even himself as to why he is doing that. He has also opened up to X about his daughter. Some people prefer them as just friends.
