Smoke Blanket is the femslash ship between Duvay and Ashley from the Starlight Express fandom.
Canon[]
Duvay and Ashley have never interacted in any version of the show. This is due to Duvay specifically being created to replace Ashley during the second UK Tour. This was due to smoking cars being removed from passenger trains as smoking became less common. The sleeper car was used both as a reference to the original Belle and due to them being still in passenger trains. Duvay's design was also exactly the same as Ashley's 2nd UK Tour/Las Vegas outfit. This was because the race footage that used Ashley wasn't replaced, so Duvay had to look as close to Ashley as possible. The only thing that changed was the wig, adding pillows to the hair to create the Duvay design. The replacement didn't extend to any other productions however, with most still using Ashley till around 2018. Duvay being a rather short lived character as a result.

Smoke Blanket is a rarepair in the StEx fandom. As Ashley and Duvay exist at different stages in StEx's changes over the yeras. As well as Duvay existing only for a short time within two productions. Due to them having the same design, some fans do believe that they might be related. Possibly either cousins or sisters. They also have the same role within the show, which can make them shippable due to having similar personalities. Though that is a detractor for those who prefer opposite's or more conflict within their ships. However some think that their similarities may cause some friction between the two. Others also play with Duvay being Ashley's replacement from a certain persepctive. With it being a source of potential in universe conflict for the two.
It's main rival ship is Smoked Hot Dogs. The name "Smoke Blanket" is a reference to Ashley being a smoking car and Duvay being a sleeping car.
