Snott is the slash ship between Theodore Nott and Severus Snape from the Harry Potter fandom.
Canon[]
Theodore is a student of Snape, he is a member of Slytherin house where Snape is head of house. They have no clear interactions in canon but it is clear that Snape favors Slytherin and never punishes his students if he can help it.
Theodore is one of the few students at Hogwarts who can see Thestrals. The most popular theory is that he saw his mother die. Theodore's father is a Death Eater branded like Snape. He came from a family of Death Eaters and supporters of pure-blood supremacy.
Hermione Granger pointed out Theodore's name to Harry Potter for the first time in 1996. She did this when Theodore was gathered in the school library with fellow Slytherins: Vincent Crabbe, Gregory Goyle, and Draco Malfoy. All four boys had fathers who had recently been outed by Harry as Death Eaters in an article published in The Quibbler. Theodore was the only member of the group whose reaction to seeing Harry was not specifically noted as being either negative or threatening, as it was not noticeable at all.
At the end of the year, Theodore's father was captured in the Department of Mysteries as one of the Death Eaters who participated in the raid on the Department and exposed as an escaped Death Eater. With his father incarcerated and his mother dead, it is unspecified who cared for Theodore Nott during the school holidays.

Fanon[]
Snott is a rare couple in the fandom. Little is known about the character of Theodore. He only appears a handful of times in the books. Despite this, he is a popular character to include in fanfiction and has a dedicated fanbase. On AO3, there are several fanfics about the couple, both as a friendship and a romantic couple. The couple ship has over 4000 fanfics on AO3. Because not much is known, Theo's character is often a blank slate and thus this allows fanfiction writers to be imaginative in depicting Theo's character, almost to the point of being an OC.
Snott is similar to Snarry in that it is a student/professor romance, but because not much is known about Theodore, writers have more creative freedom. Additionally, Nott is closer to Snape in that they are both Slytherins and both affiliated with Voldemort and the Death Eaters.
