- No... don't do this... Let your Sister "Lantern" try again one more time, I can defeat it, I...
- —Lantern to Songque in "A Crime Foretold".
Songtern is the femslash ship between Songque and Tsavorae "Lantern" from the Honkai fandom.
Canon[]
Songque and Lantern are both fellow members of the Seven Shu. Songque is the seventh and bears the title of "Deception", whilst Lantern is the fourth and bears the title of "Destruction". Songque and Lantern have notably one of the closest, if not the closest, relationships amongst the Seven Shu, especially on Lantern's side. The two are shown to have a very comfortable relationship, and although lots of their interactions appeared to be somewhat awkward, or involve Songque trying to sell something to Lantern, deep down they both consider each other an extremely important person, and care for the other very deeply. Songque is shown to be the person Lantern cares about the most, however due to her difficulties with expressing emotions, Lantern is not always able to express just how much Songque means to her. Whilst Songque often teases Lantern, or tries to scam her, when it comes down to it Songque cares for Lantern just as deeply, and worries about how much she pushes herself, considering Lantern an amazing person who is able to make a difference in the world.
Songque and Lantern first met one another at an unknown point after Lantern joined the "Lantern" and Songque became a resident of Amber Street, but before the two became members of The Seven Shu.
Vajra Candy Anecdote[]
Having rescued the injured Songque from the shadows, Lantern walked down the mountain carrying Songque on her shoulder, the two having remained in silence for quite some time. Songque then broke the silence, commenting that Lantern had carried her and protected her for so long, and she must be tired, so Lantern could put her down. Lantern obliged and then asked Songque if she could walk by herself, to which Songque told her that she could. As Lantern then turned to leave, Songque called out to her, saying that after Lantern had saved her from the shadows, she could let not her leave empty handed. Lantern remarked that she was on a mission and that saving Songque's life was a side trip, apologizing to her. Songque insisted that if not for Lantern she would have been torn apart by the shadows, and did not want to be ungrateful, telling Lantern that she had some rare treasures she could sell to her for a bargain as thanks.
Surprised at Songque's comment, Lantern remarked that she had heard of the diviner Songque who knows all the major arts of fortune telling. Songque commented that she was flattered by this, but Lantern then stated she was aware Songque that is a fake. Songque then remarked that she has made money by lying, but she did it to survive, as when you live in this world, you need to have a precious treasure. Songque then pulled candies out of her pocket, stating that they are blessed by gods, if you perform the right measures you will be granted invincibility, and that based on what she saw of Lantern's fighting talent they would be perfect for her, therefore she will charge her 10% of the original price. Songque then asked Lantern what she thinks, calling her "hero", but was then interrupted by her own stomach growling, which prompted Lantern to immediately agree, asking for the price.

Non-Stop Stage Clears Carnival[]
In the "Non-Stop Stage Clears Carnival" event, the player is able to control Lantern as she makes her way down a series of obstacles to rescue her stolen lollipop. In the 5th stage, the description is "How could you meet someone familiar in a foreign game? There's a secret behind this... Calm down, let me finish~", and upon completing it, Lantern is greeted by Songque, waving to her and calling out "Heeeey!". Lantern asks Songque what her name is, to which Songque tells her her name, telling Lantern to not pretend she does not know her name and to please allow her to finish. Songque then playfully teases Lantern, calling her "Lan-tern-tern-tern-tern", laughing that she finally got a chance to call Lantern that, which feels so good.
Lantern remarks that she is definitely Songque then, stating that she is busy and asking Songque to move, to which Songque hurriedly pleads for Lantern not to leave yet, as she is not finished. Songque proudly states that Lantern is right and she is indeed the real Songque, and the Senadina that Lantern had met previously was also the real Senadina. Confused, Lantern states that she was not aware the game supported co-op, prompting Songque to state Lantern should have heard about the Player Developer Project. Lantern states that she thinks Senadina told her about it, and that Coralie was able to participate in it and create levels, to which Songque affirms her statement, telling Lantern that because players were beating levels too quickly, she was assigned to stand in for an MPC.
Lantern curiously remarks that she is playing a game co-developed by Coralie, and then states to Songque that as a key character, she did not even bother remembering her name, asking if she should tell Coralie about it. Songque laughs nervously and tells Lantern not to take it seriously, and even if she does not remember her name, she remembers everything in the message she is meant to relay. She goes on to say that Lantern's effort has been acknowledged by the developers, and will receive the lead in a minute, however a stronger competitor is about to appear. Lantern questions what Songque means by a stronger competitor, but Songque merely states that she did her part, and it is all up to Lantern now, encouraging her to not give up.

Fanon[]
Songtern is not considered to be a popular ship in the fandom, having a quite limited amount of shippers. Their lack of popularity stems from the already limited Honkai Impact 3rd fandom not taking much of an interest in Part 2 and the ships, with lots of players not have completed the story. Nonetheless, amongst the Part 2 ships Songtern nonetheless fall on the higher side due to majority of the ships having extremely few shippers, or even none. However, the shippers Songtern do have are very dedicated to them, often posting about them and discussing the dynamic. The two are typically viewed as exes by the shippers due to the dynamic shown in the main story, with some shippers liking to headcanon that Songque wants to fix their relationship and misses Lantern, whilst Lantern is bitter about the breakup.
Due to Lantern being shipped with almost only Songque, Songtern is easily Lantern's most popular ship, as well as Songque's second most popular ship, only truly being rivaled by Songque's most popular ship, Songlema, and minorly rivaled by LanHelia and Lantelema.

Trivia[]
- In both CN and JP, Songque calls Lantern "Sister Lantern" ("灯姐" and "アカリ姉さん" respectively). Both "姐" and "姉さん" are respectful terms used to refer to a woman older than you which usually indicates closeness, however it does not typically mean you have a sister relationship with said woman.
- In one of the "Strange Tales At The Banquet" web event acts, Songque and Lantern dance together.
- Alternatively, instead of asking Lantern to dance, Songque simply admires Lantern from afar.
- Lantern is known for having a sweet tooth and her like of candy and how candy is important to both her and Songque's relationship, however it is revealed by Lantern herself that she never liked candy until she tried it because of Songque.
- In game both Lantern and Songque are are able to support each other very well due to excellent synergy, being each other's best teammates, along with Thelema. Due to Thelema also being shipped with Songque, the three of them being run together with Songque as the leader is often called the "Songque Polycule" team by Western fans.
