Spaceyarn is the slash ship between Ruffs and Kit from the Brawl Stars fandom.
Canon[]
Kit and Ruffs are male playable characters in Brawl Stars and, depending on the player's choices, can face off or cooperate in online modes. They don't interact directly in the game or in the official Supercell animations. However, it is important to note that Kit was supposedly going to be released in place of Ruffs on February 1, 2021. This is assumed because the game's social networks published promotional art from January's Brawl Talk showing that Shelly's cat, Kit, could be included in the next update. Although when the date arrived, the feline didn't launch and was replaced by the dog colonel of the Starr Force.
They have a handful of similarities. Both are from domestic animal species: Kit is a cat and Ruffs is a dog. They don't share the same personality traits because Kit is playful and gets carried away by his feline instincts despite being an adult while Ruffs is orderly and serious because he is the colonel of the Starr Force and that comes with great responsibility. Nonetheless, in his voice lines, the canine sometimes gets carried away by his pet nature and acts like a dog. Likewise, according to the character descriptions, they both want to be valued: Kit for his acting skills more than his looks, and Ruffs deep down wants to be a good boy. In the game, they are classified as support brawlers and their reload speed is fast.
They also have big differences. Ruff dresses befitting his role as a colonel, wearing a military spacesuit and a large Federation hat, while Kit wears no clothes, walking around without clothes just like a cat does. Within the game, the canine belongs to the mythical quality and the kitten is legendary. In addition, they have different stats when it comes to gameplay. On the one hand, Ruffs' basic attack damage is greater compared to Kit's. On the other hand, the Brawlywood actor has moderate health while the space leader has low health. Finally, they attack differently because Kit uses his claws to attack at close range while Ruffs attacks at long range with his Double-Barrel Laser.
Fanon[]
Spaceyarn is Kit's most popular ship and one of the best known in Ruffs' affair. People started pairing them since the announcement of the kitten as a new character because they find it cute and adorable to pair a dog with a cat with different personalities, falling into the opposites attract trope. However, the couple has haters who exclaim that it's weird and random to pair them because their designs don't complement each other as they belong to different environments: Ruffs with a serious and formal appearance while Kit with a more cartoon aesthetic.
In fan works, the duo is portrayed as a loving couple whose members protect each other to avoid losing control. On the one hand, it is common to see in fanart a scenario where Ruffs is a grumpy dog who rarely smiles or seems to enjoy life, but when Kit appears in his life he allows himself to be more affectionate and happy. On the other hand, a handful of arts depict the canine trying to be tough on his lover's affections, but in the end he ends up reciprocating the feelings in a passionate way. Finally, other artists prefer to characterize the characters as forties or older men going about their daily lives or simply having a good time together.
In fanfictions, the ship is presented with different backstories from the tragic to the comical. A common scenario is that they were friends/college classmates and many years later they meet again in Starr Park and discover their true feelings for each other, some of these include Eve as Kit's rival or Ruffs' girlfriend. It's also common to find stories that show a love/hate on the part of the dog towards the cat where at first hate predominates because the dog doesn't tolerate the hyperreactivity of his contrary, but then it turns into unconditional love. Finally, several writers like to put the couple in crazy situations like a space prison, a Starr Force academy, or Brawl Stars game modes.
