Spades Dad is the familyship between Lancer and King from the Deltarune fandom.

Canon

Seam reveals that King and Lancer were appointed sole rulers of the Card Kingdom shortly before the events of Chapter 1, the kingdom used to be ruled by all four kings. Lancer's father soon went mad with power, firing his most useful subjects and declaring that any Lightner that sets foot in his kingdom shall be executed, sending Lancer to be on the lookout for anyone coming through the large gate connecting Ralsei's Castle Town to his kingdom.

Chapter 1

Lancer is introduced attacking Kris and Susie, like his father told him he should, by summoning a storm of spades. However, as he loses the battle against them no matter what, he resorts to playing harmless pranks on them, like putting up misleading signs. Though the heroes initially think of him as an annoyance, he starts warming up to Susie in particular and bonds with her after she defects from the heroes when she realizes that she isn't good at being good. When Ralsei and Kris manage to defeat Susie and Lancer either through kindness or hurting Lancer to the point where Susie becomes genuinely concerned for him, the two of them join the party again and Lancer officially sees the three of them as his friends.

However, as the four of them approach the Card Castle, Lancer realizes that to complete their mission of sealing the fountain, the heroes would have to fight his father. Fearing the possibility of his new friends killing his father or vice-versa, Lancer runs away from them, back home and orders his subjects to lock his friends in the dungeon for eternity. However, Lancer does so completely non-maliciously, he simply couldn't think of an alternative to prevent them having to fight his father. But after Susie breaks out of her cell, she assumes that Lancer had betrayed them and beats him up to avenge her and her friends. But after both eventually stop fighting, Lancer reveals that he doesn't actually want to hurt her, with Susie agreeing that she didn't want to hurt him either. Thus Lancer opens up about his fear that his father will get hurt when the heroes confront him, but Susie promises him that they don't have to hurt him if they don't need to. Lancer is somewhat relieved to hear that and hurries to try and reason with his father.

However, when the party reach the top of the Card Castle to confront King, they see Lancer trying to talk to him about sparing the Lightners. King is not interested in hearing Lancer's explanation, arguing that Lancer failed his mission and that his mind had been "poisoned" by the Lightners, whom he sees as nothing but scum for trying to overthrow his rule. The heroes then confronting King as he grabbed Lancer by the throat, he forces them into submission by threatening to throw Lancer off the roof. But just as King prepared to attack them anyway, Lancer summons a spade to hit his father in the back, allowing for an opening for his friends to fight him as he runs to safety. Depending if the party had befriended Lancer's subjects instead of defeating them violently, Lancer will lead a rebellion against his father and throw him in the dungeon.

Chapter 2

After having relocated the entirety of the Card Kingdom to Ralsei's Castle Town, King already be in that castle's dungeon. When the party visits him, he will assume that they only want to humiliate him further, but he asks if Lancer is happy when they leave. Susie will ask him why he cares, reminding him that he tried to throw Lancer off the roof last time. King will explain that nothing would've happened to Lancer if he did throw him off the roof, he would've just bounced back.

After recruiting Queen, she will visit King in the normal route to announce that she will be taking care of Lancer from now on. King briefly gets angry at her for it, but then allows for her to do with him as she pleases, even offering advice that she should bounce him for a bit should he get sad.
