Sparks of Hope Heroes is the friend ship between Mario, Rabbid Mario, Luigi, Rabbid Luigi, Princess Peach, Rabbid Peach, Edge, Bowser, Rabbid Rosalina, Beep-0 and JEANIE from the Super Mario and the Raving Rabbids fandoms.

Canon

It was confirmed that the Heroes from Kingdom Battle have disbanded and gone their separate ways, Yoshi and Rabbid Yoshi are not part of this new group of heroes as they are on vacation from the previous events. The Heroes now comprise of most of the original members that stayed, such as Mario, Rabbid Mario, Luigi, Rabbid Luigi, Princess Peach, Rabbid Peach and Beep-0 along with newcomers such as JEANIE, Edge, Rabbid Rosalina and Bowser, the latter whose alliance is only temporary due to his minions being brainwashed by Cursa.

Princess Peach makes a request for her Rabbid counterpart and Mario to help Rabbid Mario find his overalls which have been taken from him and he refused to leave the bush due to embarrassment. Once they find the overalls, they return them to Rabbid Mario, who puts them on and is able to leave from the bush. Rabbid Luigi is revealed to be the culprit as he wanted to be the only Rabbid with overalls so much, it led to him taking Rabbid Mario's to achieve it though after a brief bout of bickering, Beep-0 and the rest of the gang were ready to relax when a Rabbid-Luma hybrid called a Spark lands on Mario and a giant Darkmess Manta attacks and covers the area in Darkmess and it kidnaps the distracted Rabbid Peach. Princess Peach is unable to calm everyone and gives Mario a boost to climb on the Manta Ray to save Rabbid Peach. Mario is able to save her before she gets into a battle stance to defeat the strange new enemies before they had an encounter with an evil entity named Cursa who brainwashes the Goombas into following its orders, but Mario and Rabbid Peach were rescued by their friends, who fly to them in the ship called the WM ARC where they learned that the Lumas and Rabbids merged to become Sparks and Rosalina is missing so they made it their mission to find her.

On Beacon Beach, they were almost attacked by Augie, who has been paranoid over the recent events due to Darkmess infecting the lighthouse and the weather constantly being overcast, and quickly apologizes to them and explains what happened. After finding Twinkle, they head into the Sunrise Temple, but a mysterious Rabbid with sharp teeth shushes Augie while snickering which has him slowly sinking into the water in fear. During their expedition through the Sunrise Temple, Twinkle is suddenly snatched by the Darkmess Tentacle prompting the heroes to help it. Twinkle is being chased by the Stooges and is cornered, only for a Flying Blade to soar out of the waterfall and hit one of the attacking Stooges before returning to its owner, to the heroes' surprise as the mysterious assailant appears, revealed to be a punk goth Rabbid and makes her disapproval clear before Cursa's minions try to attack her, though she easily dispatches them all much to the amazement of the heroes, while Rabbid Mario falls in love instantly. After that, she coaxes Twinkle into approaching her to prove she is not a threat but is interrupted by a Giant Wildclaw which they also defeat. Augie appears to congratulate them, but then becomes terrified of the strange Rabbid, calling her a Spark Hunter, which she corrects that she isn't and introduces herself as Edge, who then joins the team due to her desire to help the Sparks. After destroying the second Darkmess Tentacle, the dark rainfall comes to an end and begins a bright ray of sunshine.

Next, the Heroes head to Pristine Peaks, which is suffering a brutal blizzard, making visibility difficult and endangering life there. They make their way up the mountain where the Darkmess Tentacle resided and managed to destroy it to put a stop to the blizzard. Mario and the rest of the Rabbids were having fun making snowmen with Rabbid Mario making himself as the head of one of his creations, which fails to get the reactions from either Edge or Rabbid Peach. Beep-0 states that they should not have any trouble going through the Winter Palace now that the storm has ended, though Edge tells him that the real storm has actually begun. They free Captain Orion from the ice and he is distressed over the safety of "the girl", who is imprisoned within the palace. During their expeditions, they find Midnite, whom Captain Orion deems the ghost of Winter Palace though Edge tells him that she's one of Cursa's Spark Hunters. After various encounters, they confront Midnite, who is revealed to have once been a friend with Edge, though the latter ends the conversation when it started to get too deep. Her captive is revealed to be Rabbid Rosalina, who is looking through books and when she sees Midnite having Orion trapped, she immediately goes into action to fight Midnite. After they defeat her, Orion and Rabbid Rosalina were free and Edge spares Midnite, who then leaves. Captain Orion encourages Rabbid Rosalina to go with them, though she was reluctant until Beep-0 confirms that they are looking for Rosalina as well, which she then accepts.

They head to Palette Prime, where the forest within has lost color and its life due to the Darkmess Tentacle as explained by T.S. Woodrow, while Rabbid Mario suggests burning down the forest so they can reach it, though he is rebuffed. After destroying the Darkmess Tentacle underground, the forest has been restored to its natural beauty, though the town nearby is under attack which the heroes must head a different way to reach there and they find a brawl occurring there and one of the pink houses is destroyed, revealing that Bedrock is in a fierce battle against Mario's long-time enemy, Bowser. During the scuffle where they lock hands, Bowser noticed Mario briefly and narrows his eyes at him before resuming his focus while Bedrock noticed Edge and is distracted, which Bowser takes advantage of and headbutts her, though she regains the upper hand by hurling him into the Darkmess Tentacle. Mario and his friends refused to leave Bowser to his fate no matter how much he grieved the Mushroom Kingdom and gave him the Bowzooka. Once the team defeats Bedrock, the latter escapes with the help from Daphne, much to the heroes' frustration. Bowser reluctantly joins the team as his main reason for doing so is to get his brainwashed minions back. On the ship, Edge is on the receiving end of suspicion when Beep-0 noticed that she and the Spark Hunters know each other well, though Edge angrily tells him that it's none of his business which has the rest of the crew staring at him for upsetting her.

At Terra Flora, it was suffering from a lack of water and is on the brink of a drought which they would help Bea and Sullivan through the situation. Each of them contributes to clearing the way for the Wiggler Train that they must take to reach Mt. Spout, though they accidentally wake up a real Wiggler, which becomes outraged and pursued them. Most of them, except Edge, Bowser, and Sullivan were caught off-guard until Rabbid Mario jumps into Edge's arms which surprises her. After seemingly escaping, they celebrate until they realized that Wiggler caught up to them again and attacks the train, making Bowser scold it while being restrained. Upon arrival, they managed to restore Mount Spout's pressure enough for it to erupt once more, stopping the drought. Most of the heroes were encased in the bubbles before they were free. On the ship, Beep-0 notes that they haven't seen any Spark Hunters in a while and believes that they have given up, though Edge is doubtful as she thinks about one of the most devious Spark Hunters that could be lurking on the next planet and would need to find Momma to inquire her help in getting past the barrier blocking off Cursa's stronghold.

At Barrendale Mesa, the ship is prevented from landing, so everyone had to jump off the ship and the smaller Rabbids and Luigi land on the advertisement balloon until Bowser lands on it, popping it. Everyone lands on the ground, though Momma appears before them and isn't happy about her balloon's destruction. Beep-0 apologizes and tells her that they need shield breakers to break Cursa's defenses. Momma then explains that she is willing to help them though she isn't able to since the windmill isn't working due to an electric storm and sends them there to help fix the problem. After they managed to put a stop to the storm, they get a transmission from Momma telling them to hurry back. Upon arrival, "Momma" is revealed to be Daphne in disguise and imprisons the heroes in the Darkmess Dimension while the real Momma is revealed to have been captured while they were away, though they all managed to defeat her as well. Cursa appears to the heroes, but before it could do anything, Rosalina temporarily breaks free and creates a portal for them to escape back to Barrendale Mesa before Cursa took back control. Mario carries the stubborn Rabbid Rosalina through the portal. After that, the heroes were shocked about Rosalina's true fate as Rabbid Rosalina had saved them all as JEANIE tries to describe the sadness and determination as the freed Momma tells her that she is feeling a sense of hope and has them look through the Purified Darkmess Crystal where they learned how Cursa and the Sparks came to be. Momma gets the Shield Breakers ready for them and tells them that they must have hope and stick together in order to see things through.

When Spawny is revealed to be in captivity in the Tower of Doooom, the heroes and Beep-0 form together to climb up to ten levels to reach the top where Spawny is kept. After defeating Cursa's minions, Spawny is set free and he is confident enough to travel on his own, knowing his friends will have his back in times of trouble.

On their way to Cursa's stronghold, they would soon get a transmission from the Melodic Gardens, which have mysteriously gone silent, and they changed course for the planet. There they meet Allegra after freeing the musicians from captivity, who explains that Melodic Gardens is in danger due to the disappearance of a certain friend of hers and the presence of a mysterious Spark Hunter, which confuses Edge as she had believed that they had defeated them all. They would soon meet Kanya, who knows about them despite them not knowing of her and has plans for the Sparks and is leaving Cursa out of it and tells her that her friend has gone missing which Allegra heads out. After taking care of things, the heroes catch up with Allegra, who is comforting her imprisoned friend, who is a Dorrie as the heroes look on in sympathy and Kanya soon chases them, and they use her Bob-ombs to add pieces of land to reach their friends and free the Dorrie. Working together, they managed to defeat Kanya and send her off into deep space. Allegra and her subjects thank them before restoring the musical nature of Melodic Gardens before they head to Cursa's stronghold.

They arrive at Cursa's stronghold at last and destroy the shields and have to deal with two Darkmess Puddles with one of them containing Darkmess Bowser and the other containing Darkmess Edge. After defeating both of them, the heroes become even more concerned for Edge, as she starts to come clean about her past as the former commander of the Spark Hunters, who was given a free will to lead and think but she saw how horrible Cursa was and tried to tell the Spark Hunters about it only for them to shun her, prompting her to leave in order to save the Sparks and protect them from her former allies and she never revealed anything about herself as she feared that they would not believe or trust her. Fortunately, the heroes were understanding and supportive of her despite the revelation and she is part of their family meaning she does not have to keep secrets from them, which relieves Edge before turning their attention to Cursa. During the battle they managed to destroy its hands and attacked the broken star in order to free the Sparks and Rosalina from its grasp. With Rosalina's assistance, they were able to weaken Cursa and Rabbid Rosalina takes the lead and defends her friends before the drained Sparks power up the giant wand to weaken it even more. The heroes attack at the same time and Rosalina uses her wand to combine their ammunition into a single arrow to destroy Cursa forever.

Rosalina thanks everyone for helping to save her and the galaxy from Cursa and she invites Rabbid Rosalina and Edge to join her on the Comet Observatory, though Rabbid Rosalina wanted to, but she ends up finding family in her new friends and loves them even if they annoy her and Edge also decides to stay with the group as her old pals are seeking a new allegiance and is willing to put up with them and keep them in line. Rosalina praises Bowser as well and hopes the experience taught him the importance of teamwork though Bowser insists that they are still enemies. Rabbid Mario, Rabbid Luigi, and Rabbid Peach are playing around with Bowser to the point of angering in and retaliates by throwing them off and breathing fire.

Fanon

Like the Kingdom Battle Heroes ship, the Sparks of Hope ship has a handful of non-ship fanfic that involve the group within these stories and they have also included the characters in the previous game that did not make it into the sequel. The entire theme in the sequel is hope which the heroes have as the means to help defeat Cursa and to bring Rosalina back to their side. Fans especially love just how unconditional their friendship with Edge has become despite her dark origins as a former commander of the Spark Hunters and her heroic actions prove just how trustworthy she is.
