On the way down to Kronos, Spock tells Jim the odds of them being killed, which Jim gives a sarcastic "fantastic". Uhura says that it's a good thing that Spock doesn't care about dying, Kirk instantly feeling awkward. Spock starts to say he couldn't understand her, but Uhura says she didn't say anything. They then start arguing, making Jim feel rather uncomfortable. Uhura asks for two seconds, as she explains to Spock that she was upset about him not thinking about how his death would effect her. She says that Jim is upset as well, but Jim quickly tells her not to drag him into this, only to backtrack and say that she's right. Spock starts to explain himself, but Uhura just rolls her eyes, while Jim calls his apology garbage.

Strange New Worlds[]

LOST IN TRANSLATION

After Jim and Sam have an intense conversation, Sam storms off. Uhura says that was something and Jim struggles to find a way to describe how Sam has always been. They're interrupted by Spock, who states that Sam can be rather frustrating. Uhura introduces the two to each other and they shake hands while Uhura watches. Jim then asks Spock to join them, which he does. The three the devolve into conversation over drinks.

Spirhura is a smaller pairing in the Star Trek fandom. The ship started as a result of the 2009 film. This was due to Spock and Uhura being in a relationship in the film, as well as Kirk flirting with Uhura. However, many fans had been shipping Spock and Kirk either because of the film or prior to it when watching TOS. As a result, some fans thought that the best solution to potential fandom fights would be to have the three be all in a relationship with each other.

On AO3, Spirhura is the tenth most written ship for Spock and the ninth most written for Uhura. There are currently 160+ written works.
