Spirit Assassin is the slash ship between Chirrut Imwe and Baze Malbus from the Star Wars fandom.

Chirrut enters as a group of Storm Troopers attempt to take Jyn and Cassian. He fights them off, when another large group of them run forward to attack. Baze then appears and shoot them all down before they can get to Chirrut. Chirrut points out that Baze almost shot him and Baze gives a sarcastic "your welcome" as he hands Chirrut his weapon.

Spirit Assassin is one of the most popular ship to come out of the Rogue One film. It was quickly speculated by fans that the two were a couple. Given their fierce loyalty to each other, as well as Baze's protectiveness over Chirrut. Due to them bickering often many assumed they were old married couple. Most likely having been together for decades. Like many Rogue One fics, they're often written to have survived at the end. The two will often be a secondary couple in many RebelCaptain fics. A good chunk of fics depict how the two first met before the events of Rogue One. A good chunk of these fics often have them as childhood friends or teenage sweethearts.
Many fans would have loved to see them be a couple in the film, as the film came out at a time where LGBT+ representation in Star Wars was becoming a mainstream discussion. Started by Oscar Isaac and other shipping Finnpoe. Many assumed that Chirrut and Baze would at least be confirmed offscreen at some point by the director. However this would never come to pass, and many saw it as a missed opportunity for queer representation in the franchise. As even now it is rare, and almost never appears in Star Wars media outside of the novels.
On AO3, Spirit Assassin is the most written ship for both Chirrut and Baze. It is also the second most written ship in the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story tag.
