AloAmi is the slash ship between Aloha and Army.

Canon[]

This section is in need of major improvement. Please help improve this article by editing it.

Army and Aloha are seen to have an intense rivalry relationship. The differences in their personalities and battle strategies seem to tick each other off, causing them to argue frequently. However, there are times where the two (and the other s4 members) seem to get along. Arguing aside, deep down, the two hold a special place in each other's hearts whether they like it or not.

Fanon[]

AloAmi is one of the most popular ships within the Splatoon's manga fanbase. The ship exploded in popularity because of Aloha and Army’s completely different lifestyles and attitude; as Aloha is friendly and often viewed disorganized, while Army is uptight and straightforward.

In result, Alomas rivals BobbleMask.

BamRai[]

BamRai is the het ship between Bamboo Hat and Rider.

Canon[]

This section is in need of major improvement. Please help improve this article by editing it.

Bamboo was recruited by Rider into Team Yellow-Green as a temporary unit. They are first seen in the plaza when Bamboo walks behind Rider. In the battle against Team Blue, Bamboo along with Stealth and Blazer stay behind Rider and ink the ground for their specials. After Rider gets splatted, Bamboo shows worry and starts to stammer, unsure what to do after he was shot. At the end, Rider looks back at the rest of Yellow-Green and realizes his error in throwing together a last-minute team and takes Goggles words to heart.

Later in the Square King Cup, Bamboo and Stealth show incredulity to Rider after he hesitates in attacking Team School Cardigan. Their main interactions stem from Yellow-Green's battle against Team Emperor. Rider reminds the team to remember the plan, and throughout the battle as they're slowly losing, Rider recalls how he reformed the team; Bamboo showed shock as Rider asked her to join the team again, and she responded, "Sure... You're a strong player, Rider." as the panels cut back to her smiling in the present time. In the flashbacks they're seen coordinating with the rest of Yellow-Green

After they lose the match, Bamboo has a tear in her eye but is quickly comforted after Rider says they need to try their hardest. In the background, Yellow-Green is seen talking together.

BamRai is relatively unknown, as Bamboo is a minor character and her most popular ship is with Blazer. However, some fans enjoy BamRai more, as Bamboo is often shown standing next to Rider, and it's been shown that she highly respects Rider. Rival ships include mainly StealthRai and other Yellow-Green pairings.

BobbleGoggles[]

BobbleGoggles is the het ship between Bobble Hat and Goggles.

Canon[]

This section is in need of major improvement. Please help improve this article by editing it.

Goggles and Bobble are the "funny man" duo of their team, portrayed in an extremely comedic light. The two are known to laugh and smile throughout all situations, though Goggles is at a lesser degree and is occasionally faltered. The two are scolded by Headphones and Specs for their dangerously hopeful and carefree attitude, though they never listen. Goggles and Bobble focus on having fun in their battles, and their conjoined optimism allows Team Blue's victories even in the dimmest of situations. Goggles often cheers on Bobble and vice versa. Bobble is one of the only characters who finds Goggles' antics genuinely funny. However, Bobble often calls Goggles stupid, like when he managed to fall in a manhole or got himself attacked by Rider.

Fanon[]

Goggles and Bobble's relationship is mainly portrayed sibling-like in the fanbase. The community of romantic BobbleGoggles shippers is rather slim, though it's still a relatively popular pairing despite the hate it often gets. The ship mainly rivals other Team Blue ships such as HeadBobble, and often GoRai. Familial or romantic, BobbleGoggles is shipped beside HeadSpecs.

Canon[]

Bobble and Headphones are close childhood friends. They fight alongside each other on Team Blue, and they’re seen hanging out together outside of practice many times; such as when they go out to try hats together or when Bobble tries on Headphones’ headphones to listen to her music on the train. Headphones is frequently exasperated by Bobble’s antics, though on a lesser degree compared to Goggles.

Fanon[]

This section is in need of major improvement. Please help improve this article by editing it.

Due to the lack of female characters in the manga series, Bobblephones is generally popular as a romantic pairing. On the other hand, many see Headphones and Specs as Bobble and Goggles’ parents. Bobblephones is often shipped with SpecGoggles.

BobbleSpecs[]

Canon[]

This section is in need of major improvement. Please help improve this article by editing it.

Bobble and Specs' relationship is hardly displayed in the series, however, the two have known each other since childhood and are exceptionally kind to one another. They frequently meet up and train together. Specs has been shown to be exasperated and frightened by Bobble's antics, mainly coupled with Goggles, often widening his eyes and panicking at her words like when she used the example, "If I get hit, I'll go to hell!" Their main interactions stem from battles and occasional banter; they share many comedic moments, mainly when Bobble stabbed her fingers into Specs' glasses to test if they have lenses.

Additionally, their most notable conversation is during the Square King Ranked Battle Cup: they meet up at the cafe together on a rainy day, and Specs shows worry after Bobble is drenched in water, handing her a napkin and asking her if she's alright. Specs is also impressed when Bobble recreates Crusty Sean with paper, and she then asks what Specs is doing at the cafe, prompting his shock as he explains he was creating a strategy for the semifinals. Bobble then says, "I see. Thinking Specs!, leading to Specs sweating but intrigued by her comment. Specs laments that he's injured and unable to participate, apologizing to Bobble and contemplating, before Bobble suggests that she use the Octobrush for Specs, asking him to teach her how to use it. Specs is shocked but happily agrees, then it stops raining. Off-screen, Specs teaches Bobble how to wield the Octobrush before the match.

Bobble Hat and Specs are mainly depicted as a father-daughter duo, and romantic pairings for them are not as popular. However, many grew to ship them after their bonus chapter in Volume 10.

Deep Cut[]

Deep Cut is the friend ship between Shiver, Frye and Big Man.

Canon[]

In cannon they are a close a group of childhood friends who are connected via their clans strong ties. Shiver and Frye are the more chaotic ones, with shiver technically being the leader, and big man is the more level headed one but still joins in.

Fanon[]

In fanon their is a large speculation that Shiver and Frye are dating (called Shivrye) due to their dialog between one another often being flirty in a way. There is other minor factors adding to this like Shiver giving a dirty look to Pearl when Pearl was talking with Frye, possibly being jealous. Or Shiver saying "It's not which is 'strongest' or 'coolest'. Which makes the best PARTNER" (referring to the Grass vs Fire vs Water Pokémon splatfest theme) and Frye replying to Shiver saying "Why are you looking at me like that?" Which some have seen as Shiver trying to subtly convey interest in Frye.

There is also a smaller but notable group of people who ship Shiver, Frye and Big man (called polycut). Which is mostly rooted in the already stated speculation between Shiver and Frye dating and Big Man always being by their side trying to keep them out of trouble.

Canon[]

Emperor and Bobble are teammates on Team Blueperor. Although they don't have many interactions, BobbleHat has been shown to find Emperor's prideful demeanor interesting, as well as often saying, "I see." while carefully observing Emperor. The two share a similar uncaring demeanor, often frustrating Headphones or the audience watching them.

Fanon[]

EmBobble normally rivals EmGoggles and BobbleMask. Fans found their kindred spirit of nonchalance and chaotic humor as a reason to ship them, platonically or romantically.

Canon[]

Emperor is Prince's older brother by around four years. They are both members of Team Emperor. Emperor is shown to be strict and protective of Prince, who often remains silent and shy. Emperor shows rare happiness after he sees Prince enjoying battle for the first time. Emperor later leaves and trusts Prince as the new leader of their team. Their familial bond has not been shown much, though Prince admires and respects his older brother, striving to follow in his path and imitate his confidence.

Fanon[]

Emperor and Prince are generally well received as a sibling duo within the fandom. Despite Emperor's formerly strict attitude regarding Prince and his training, fans enjoy their duo as Prince looks up to Emperor and follows his footsteps eagerly. Though, a portion of the fanbase ships Emperor and Prince as a slash pairing, gaining hate as the pairing in romantic is illegal and scorned for being morally dubious.

Hadphones and Specs' relationship is mainly portrayed in a comedic light. They are teammates and the "straight man" duo of their team, acting as parents by regularly scolding Goggles and Bobble Hat for their immature and carefree attitude. Headphones and Specs are often tense and pessimistic, though Specs tends to panic easily while Headphones attempts to keep her cool. They appear horrified in strange situations, both conjoined in irritation when others remain unaware or unbothered by the circumstance. The two are childhood friends along with Goggles and Bobble Hat.

Fanon[]

This section is in need of major improvement. Please help improve this article by editing it.

HeadSpecs is mainly seen as a parent duo. Since their relationship has been portrayed since early in the manga, HeadSpecs is a generally popular ship, though many prefer to see them as Goggles and Bobble Hat's older siblings, though the parent interpretation is far more common.

Canon[]

Ichiya and Ikkan were the vocalist/guitarist and vocalist/bassist of Squid Squad, a music band featured in Splatoon.

Their relationship is rather complex due to their differences in personalities and ideology of music, even though Quinn saw the potential in Ichiya's talent. Ichiya's creative differences with the bassist caused them to get involve in an argument so intense they ended up shooting ink at each other in the head.

Following the incident, Squid Squad was disbanded and the two stopped showing up at the studio completely. When interviewed about the possibility of a Squid Squad reunion, Quinn immediately left the interview without further comment after calling it an "interesting question".

Ichiya and Nami are the vocalist/guitarist and synthesizer player of Squid Squad, a music band featured in Splatoon. While their relationship isn't explicitly stated in-game, it's implied that they remained close and formed Front Roe with Murasaki and 004Clam following the departure of Quinn from Squid Squad.

While Ichiya is considered a selfish prodigy with zero knowledge of music theory, Nami is known to be the craziest member of Squid Squad with some understanding of jazz theory.

Later in the battle, Red Sole spots Prince and attacks him, giggling, "Tee-hee! Now it's my turn!" While Prince is distracted, she adds, "Hmm. The king's little brother isn't bad. But... he's not good enough either!"

Prince and Red Sole hardly interact, however, Red Sole's odd commentary on Prince has led many to ship the two, as well as the fact how their personalities directly contrast. Fanon[]

VinSole is a relatively popular ship, though often overshadowed by many X-Blood ships such as VinOme or DoubleVin. The ship sailed from the scene where Red Sole has a slight blush on her face after Vintage comments on her skills, something rare for Red Sole, leading fans to believe she admires Vintage. This is also supported by how Red Sole is quick to support Vintage's X-Ranker ideology compared to her teammates. Vintage and Red Sole's opposite demeanors have sparked many scenarios and tropes.

WarabIkkan[]

WarabIkkan is the slash ship between Mashup "Warabi" and Quinn "Ikkan" from the Splatoon fandom.

Canon[]

Diss‑Pair is a musical duo made up of Ikkan, the former bassist of Squid Squad, and Warabi, an Octoling DJ.

Following Squid Squad’s breakup, Ikkan met Warabi on an overseas tour. Despite—or because of—their differences, they clicked and formed Diss‑Pair, a metal‑EDM duo. Their partnership is grounded in musical contrast and creative tension. According to Quinn, while Warabi's demands seem all over the place, he's actually quite clever and intelligent

Official lore describes them as “a mismatch made in heaven”—creative opposites who intentionally avoid each other in the studio to preserve their distinct edges and unique sound. Ikkan craves the friction missing from his Squid Squad days, and Warabi’s frenetic electronic beats provide just that: the tension fuels their music rather than any personal harmony. Their two released tracks, “Seasick” and “Kinetosis”, highlight this dichotomy. Ikkan delivers deep, husky metal‑style vocals and basslines, while Warabi layers in synths, EDM beats, and electronic distortion. Tracks like “Seasick” showcase a back‑and‑forth interplay—almost like competing voices—yet the fusion creates something thrillingly new.

The name Diss‑Pair is a clever play—part “dissonant pair,” part “diss” (as in conflict), part “despair.” Their Japanese name, Gasshokukin, literally refers to incompatible food pairings—symbolizing two elements that clash yet combine to produce something compelling. Their creative process thrives on contrast, yielding the edgy, discordant energy heard in their songs.

Fanon[]

Fans often translates their “arguing while working separately” into a flirty, grudging partnership. The trope of “they don’t talk in person, only online”—incongruent with their simmering artistic clash—becomes a juicy ground for imagined late-night chats, back‑and‑forth banter, and emotional breakthroughs. Many fans describe the duo’s fiery interaction as reminiscent of a tumultuous relationship—passion and friction intertwined in perfect harmony.

The ship rivals IchIkkan, the ship between Ikkan and his former bandmate from Squid Squad, Ichiya.

Trivia[]

  • The two was featured in 2019's Valentine's Day artwork, walking together outside of the restaurant Ink Theory's sitting in.
  • Although he stated that Warabi's demands are all over the place, Ikkan also admitted that his bandmate's actually quite clever and intelligent.
