Spongetaco is the het ship between Spongy and Taco from the Battle for Dream Island fandom.
Canon[]
Battle for BFB[]
After the first challenge, Taco greets Spongy and asks him about it being nice to be back. Taco offers Spongy a friendship bracelet as a gift for the special occasion. Spongy stretches it around him and puts it on, which he likes wearing. Flower finds the two bonding and becomes jealous since Taco rejected her offer to become allies earlier. In the challenge, Spongy helps Taco with pushing a stack of rocks to throw at their opponent team's tower. Later on, Spongy becomes saddened when Loser cuts his friendship bracelet off of him to use to make a bridge with.
During their team's first Cake at Stake, Taco notices that Spongy no longer has his friendship bracelet on him. Spongy is startled and does not answer when she asks him about it, although Taco witnessed Loser cut it off in the last challenge. When Spongy ends up in the bottom two, Taco is hesitant to support him since he isn't wearing any of what she describes as friendship pride. Spongy is shortly revealed to be eliminated afterwards.
In the last challenge of the season as Taco explains to Flower how to complete the last part of the challenge, Spongy interrupts her to finish the explanation. Taco is angered and tells him that she was preparing that speech, which Spongy proudly states to have stolen it from her.
As Taco is trying to hide and watch the Announcer, Spongy finds Taco in a bush and greets her. This slightly annoys Taco as it further proves Blocky's point that she is not very well hidden. Later when Blocky talks to Taco about coming up with a better nickname for her, Spongy shares that he liked the "Tacster" nickname Blocky gave her.
Fanon[]
The ship is a rarepair in the Battle for Dream Island fandom, although it is often recognized more on Spongy's end. The pairing briefly gained insight from fans during the early run of post-split BFB, where the two's brief friendship started. After Taco's appreciation for him lessened and Spongy ended up getting booted early, the idea of the two being paired together died down. The two as friends is still mainly brought up largely on Spongy's side since most fans thought that Barf Bag and Taco were two of Spongy's closest friends that he both ended up losing due to misunderstandings. The pairing is still liked by enjoyers of rarepairs of the two, although Taco's more popular ships such as Tacoblock largely overshadow the ship.
