The Power of Two[]

When Pencil splits up the EXITors in hopes of all finding separate paths of escaping Four, she puts Liy together with Stapy and Match to explore the waterfall. Match is hesitant at first because she wants to stick together with Pencil, although Pencil insists that the two need her right now. Match is welcomed to the group as she and Liy ride Stapy towards the waterfall.

At the waterfall, Liy spots a nearby fortress and figures that it can be their way out of Four. Match is unsure of how they would ever get there, giving Stapy the idea to go up the inverted waterfall and having the two carry him across when they reach the top. When Stapy realizes they can't breathe underwater, Liy thinks that Match might be able to as she tosses her to the waterfall. Match quickly starts to lose her breath and falls off the side of the waterfall when trying to regain it, landing on Stapy and Liy. After Match yells at Liy for this, Liy throws her in once again to Stapy's confusion. As Match falls and begs for her to stop, Stapy still thinks it is worth it to try and make their way to the fortress. Shortly afterwards, Match tries launching Stapy's staples to the waterfall. The staples end up falling off from the side of the waterfall as the three scream and duck to prevent getting hit by them. They then try drinking the water only to violently spit it back out. Match then pushes Liy in the waterfall and repeatedly flickers her switch as an idea.

As Liy is unable to go up the waterfall, Match complains about how long it's taken them to go up. She compares it to the Tiny Loser Chamber being better than it, which Liy and Stapy agree with. Match shushes the two and urges them to just try going up the waterfall regardless of if they die or not. As they swim up, Liy and Match hold Stapy off to the side of the waterfall so he is able to regain his breath. The three repeat this pattern of giving each other a chance to breathe until they are able to reach the top of the waterfall. Match and Liy grab onto the top of the surface as Stapy grabs onto Liy's legs and Match's legs grip onto Stapy's staples. Right as Match complains about Stapy's staples hurting her, they lose grip of the top and end up falling back down. Later as they make it back up and Match and Liy guide Stapy to where the fortress is, they let go of the top once reaching the fortress and land nearby it. Once on the ground, Stapy calls for a group hug and accidentally knocks Match off the edge of the fortress in the process. He apologizes when Liy sarcastically thanks him as the two hop down with Match to rescue her. After making their way back to the fortress, Match rebukes Stapy for knocking her off and calls back to when he caused his team to lose. Stapy swears none of it was ever intentional and Liy warns him not to cause any more tricks on them. As Liy mentions traps, Stapy figures that the fortress is bound to have traps inside although Match is doubtful of it actually containing some. He takes the two inside the fortress as the three discover armor inside one of the fortress' rooms. However, as they go and grab it, they end up falling in a hole covered up by a rug in front of the armor, proving Stapy's point of there being traps inside. After falling in a hole underground, the three hear Pencil's announcement of building a new stack as their way of escaping Four.

After regrouping, Stapy gets the idea to use Liy's switch to light up the underground room, which Match calls him a hero for. When asked, Liy believes that the nearby set of keys may be able to help them get out of the room. Match quickly grabs the set of keys only to realize that she caused the walls to start closing in on them. She apologizes as Liy and Stapy call her out for not thinking. Later, Match tries to sleep through it as Stapy and Liy work towards pushing the walls back. As Stapy orders her to help him, she is irritated by Stapy disrupting her break time and launches his staples at the wall as retaliation. Realizing that the staples created a ladder, Liy and Match climb out of the hole and Stapy realizes that he's left to be crushed by the walls. Match believes him to be a goner and wishes him farewell, although Stapy urges the two to help him out. When Liy suggests that he can force the walls out, Match supports the idea as Stapy pushes through and successfully launches the walls back in place. Liy and Match congratulate him, although Match admits she still thought at first that he would've died down there. When Stapy points out that the walls being pushed back caused a hidden door to become visible, Liy and Match hop back down to check it out. Match uses the set of keys to unlock the door and the three cheer when this works.

When Match opens the door, the trio find more locked cages in front of them. Match realizes that the other keys in the set are what is used to unlock them. Unlocking one of the cages, the three find armor inside as they decide to go through each cell to collect gear for their stack. After exploring all of the cells, Liy points out that there's one more she missed. The three are unable to see anything through the last cell, leaving it to go gather their items for the stack. The three pile up their items to get out of the underground room and back into the fortress, giving Liy hope that they'll be able to escape Four.

After making it out of the hole, Four finds the three and demands that they return to his eternal algebra class. They refuse and quickly hop back towards the armor to gear up against Four. As Liy refuses to let Four get in their way, Four takes them to the center of the fortress and starts a battle against the three. Liy uses Match as a sword as she tries to hit Four, with Stapy giving them a boost to avoid getting hit by a laser Four shoots at them. Liy successfully hits Four away, causing him to lunge his horse at them which Stapy is able to fling away. Stapy then launches Liy and Match at Four as Liy is able to hit Four away from the fortress. Realizing that Four is gone, Match calls for Liy and Stapy to quickly grab their stash for the stack. As the three climb back up the schoolhouse with their gear tied to their backs, they regroup with the other EXITors to rebuild their stack. They end up successfully escaping Four alongside the rest of the trapped EXITors.

Fanon[]

The poly is a rarepair overall in the Battle for Dream Island fandom. The three as a trio largely gained much attention with the release of TPOT 11, which spent a good majority of the episode focusing on the three working together to escape the EXIT. As a ship, the pairing mostly gained attention in grouping up their individual ships, Stapliy, Matchliy, and Stapmatch, to resolve shipping conflicts. Fan art and works of the three mostly reflect the time they spent together in the EXIT and showing two of them being affectionate if not all three of them. Outside of the poly, the pairing is usually rivaled by those such as Matchcil and Stapoldy.
