Season 4[]
TENDER IS THE NATE
When Sara finds out that Nate is coming aboard the ship, she quickly calls the Legends and tells them. She says that Nate can't see Charlie as they haven't had time to tell him about her and how she looks like Amaya.
Once he gets onboard, he ends up in the lab where Charlie is, when he sees her jamming to some music. He automatically assumes she's Amaya, and he runs to her. The others try and stop him, but he spins Charlie around and hugs her before they can. He pulls back as she removes her headphones, calling her beautiful. However, she tells him to keep his hands off of her before punching him in the face. He asks what's going on, and Charlie says that she's not his ex. Sara and Ray explain that Charlie is a shape shifter who can no longer shift, and Nate puts it together together how that happened. Nate gets mad that they took in some magical creature pretending to be Amaya, and Charlie says that she's not pretending to be anyone. Sara says that she might have to pretend to be Amaya to fool Hank Heywood, and Charlie gets mad at the idea of faking being Nate's ex.
Later, Nate is trying to make his way around Paris, when Charlie shows up and asks if he's lost. He says he's fine, but she points out that he's going the wrong way. Nate says that he doesn't need directions from her, and Charlie tells him to not put his beef with Amaya onto her. They then run into Zelda and F. Scott Fitzgerald, who say that they are the most quarrelsome couple in Paris. Charlie says that the two of them aren't a couple, with them ending up joining the two for a drink. They discuss the monster around Paris, with Nate bringing out Salvador Dali's drawing of it. Charlie says it's a Minotaur, telling the story of how it's hiding after being rejected by its father. Nate then has an epiphany and stands up, Charlie asking where he's going. He says he's going to catch a Minotaur and heads off.
After the mission wraps up, the team has a pizza party, where Nate officially says goodbye to being a Legend. He then goes up to Charlie, and tells her that she'll find her place there like he did. She gives him a nod and the two toast their drinks.

Steelshifter is a rarepair in the Legends of Tomorrow fandom. The two are both more often shipped with Zari. Fans were upset that the two didn't get to interact all that often, especially given how Charlie took on Amaya's form. Meaning that a lot of potential character development and potential angst was most likely wasted. On AO3, there is one written het work and 3 written gen works.
