StephRyan is the het ship between Ryan and Stephanie from The Ridonculous Race fandom.
Canon[]
Ryan and Stephanie debuted in "None Down, Eighteen to Go - Part 1", where they were introduced to the game as "The Daters". They brought up in the confessional, how they met at the gym two months and six days prior to joining the show and how they've been a strong pair ever since. The two seemed to be in perfect synch, sharing a brain, finishing each others' sentences, and making out ... a lot. Ryan and Stephanie helped each other out during the challenge to climb the CN tower and powered through the contest without breaking a sweat. They two worked well enough together to board the first flight to Morocco.
Ryan and Stephanie's relationship hit its first speed bump in "French is an Eiffel Language", when they were in the catacombs and Ryan dropped the oar for their cheese. He asked Stephanie to toss him hers, only for him to miss the oar and lose that too. Ryan apologized in the confessional and Stephanie forgave him but was very serious when telling him not to let it happen EVER again. Ultimately, they came in 8th place so they still did good enough. Their relationship seemed pretty smooth for a while ahead.
In "Bjorken Telephone", Ryan and Stephanie got into another squabble, when Ryan failed to hold up his end of the memory challenge. They were both supposed to remember half of the Icelandic phrase "Vensamlejast gefa mer mina travel au bending", which Ryan fumbled the last word of. Stephanie was pissed at Ryan for putting them behind by messing that up and ended up remembering the whole phrase the second time they tried to participate, pulling all the weight. The Daters tried putting this little doozy behind them and Stephanie "forgave" Ryan by giving him a very hard fist bump, which hurt his hand. They got along well for the rest of the challenge and completed it with ease, with enough leftover time to make out a little.
In "Brazilian Pain Forest", Stephanie suggests using a vine to swing across a ravine. Ryan decides the better idea would be to cross the log bridge. They went with Ryan's idea and the log bridge ended up breaking, angering Stephanie, as Ryan screwed up yet another challenge for them.
Ryan and Stephanie's relationship hit their biggest hurdle yet in "A Tisket, A Tasket, I'm Gunna Blow a Gasket", when they were tasked with a botch-or-watch in Transylvania. All Ryan had to do was leap a pommel horse but he kept repeatedly failing this task. Stephanie got progressively angrier with him and continued screaming and insulting him. Ryan spat back at Stephanie, saying that her rudeness is not helping him. He demanded that she show some positive support for him but just as he struggled to jump the horse, Stephanie struggled even more to be nice. This would be the beginning of their relationship's deep, wallowing wade through a vat of toxicity.
The fight from the last episode would carry over into "Hawaiian Honeyruin", with Ryan and Stephanie still yelling at each other and getting mad. The two broke up at the end of the episode, realizing soon enough that their relationship was toxic. Although they weren't dating anymore, they still had to work together as a team to complete the challenge and win the million. The only common ground they had at this point would be that they would take half the million for themselves and never talk to the other person again. From this point on, "The Daters" were now re-branded as "The Haters".
Fanon[]
Stephryan is the most common ship between both characters, due to its canonicity and lack of rival ships. The most popular opposing ship is Cryan but this ship is trumped by CarDev as the more popular Carrie ship. However, StephRyan is also panned by most of the fandom, due to their constant bickering getting on peoples' nerves. Detractors find the writers missed the mark with the "on-and-off" couple they were going for with Ryan and Stephanie as this duo lacks any charm or redeeming traits. Their ship has been compared to similar ships like Aleheather and Duncney, which do the "Enemy Lovers" trope way better. Overall, although haters of the haters, don't necessarily refrain from shipping StephRyan, they see them as an annoying and unlikable couple and a failed attempt at a power couple.
