Stolas“Sweetie, please, you have always been the only good thing in my life.”
Octavia“So does that mean you just stayed miserable because of me? Was I some fucking obligation? Is that why you didn't even hesitate when you got a chance to leave?”
Stolas“I love you Via, so, so much. Please sweetie, let me explain.”
Octavia“I can't. You lied to me once, and you'll do it again. Have a great fucking life with him, dad.”
— Stolas and Octavia's argument in "Sinsmas"

Stolavia is the family ship between Stolas and Octavia from the Helluva Boss fandom.

Canon[]

Past[]

Octavia was born to Stolas through his arranged marriage with his wife Stella. Despite Octavia being meant to be a "precautionary heir" for the Goetia family line, Stolas doted on his daughter, often comforting her when she had a nightmare and entertaining her with astrological stories and tricks assisted by his grimoire.

You Will Be Okay

Stolas assures Octavia she will be okay, singing her a lullaby

In the episode Loo Loo Land, a flashback from Octavia’s past shows the young owl crying after having a nightmare where she was unable to find her father in the palace. Stolas would hug and comfort her, assuring her it was merely a nightmare, before singing her a lullaby and promising her she’ll be okay, leading to Octavia’s peaceful slumber.

This, in turn, led to Octavia sharing more of a bond with her father than with her mother - and with it, began fearing what would happen if her parents parted ways. Her fear would start becoming true when Stolas and Stella began arguing more frequently and loudly, ruining Octavia's comforting home life and jading her personality. The fighting also led to Octavia's relationship with her father becoming strained, especially after she realized he kept treating her like a child despite now being a teen - and that the cause of the fighting was that Stolas was seeing someone behind his wife's back.

Loo Loo Land[]

Failing Owl Dad

Stolas suggests they should go to Loo Loo Land

Octavia wakes up to Stella screaming at Stolas. Visibly unhappy, she listens to the song “My World Is Burning Down” as she walks to the kitchen, slumped, greeted by Stella throwing an imp at Stolas, insulting him and storming out while breaking various objects madly. After realizing that Octavia listened to another of his and Stella's fights, Stolas sighs and awkwardly greets his daughter good morning, asking if she had slept well, much to her apathetic amusement, to which she asks if it’s a serious question. Stolas awkwardly asks what she’s listening to, where she answers but explains the band is called “Fuck You Dad.” Stolas calls it charming, frowning as Octavia asks if the former is done screaming at Stella for the day. Stella continues screaming and shattering objects in the background, so Stolas decides to take her to Loo Loo Land just like he used to in her childhood, announcing it giddily. Octavia isn't too happy about the idea as, not only does she see herself as being too old for it, but also still has lingering trauma from the last time she visited. She says she’s not five years old anymore, wherein Stolas reminds how “happy” she always was whenever they visited the park. Octavia dryly answers that she would rather kill herself, but nevertheless, Stolas feels the two having a day together would do them both good. Stolas

Stolas declares he’ll call up security, explaining they’re “rich and hot” before blurting out he’s going to call “the only man who can fuck him” —Blitzo, the very imp Stolas is having his affair with — making Octavia narrow her eyes in exasperation. Stolas corrects himself with the term before dialing Blitzo, making Octavia groan, liking the idea even less now. Stolas suggestively calls the imp, “my big-dicked Blitzy” making both Blitzo and Octavia soit out their drinks and scream, “What the fuck?” Nevertheless, Blitzo reluctantly agrees to guard Stolas and his Octavia with the offer of money. By the time they make it to the amusement park, Octavia is already sick of the excursion.

As Stolas and Octavia continue walking the park with Blitzo covering them, the former sees that they're near a show that he thinks his daughter cried tears of joy at. Octavia, however, was terrified because she was actually traumatized by the show and its robotic host - a sentiment she shares with Blitzo. Stolas, however, has the two of them watch the show while also putting attention towards Blitzo. Throughout the show, Stolas excitedly watches, thoroughly entertained, while Octavia loses all interest. By the time the show's over, Octavia reaches her breaking point and runs away. Confused and concerned with Octavia's outburst, Stolas chases after her - leaving Blitzo to deal with his own matters.

Stolas eventually finds Octavia crying in a Fun House. He asks if she isn’t having fun and asks her what's wrong, prompting her to vent out her anger about him while crying: from not wanting to be at Loo Loo Land, to his flirting with Blitzo, to his constant fights with his wife that are destroying the peace in her life. Octavia, crying, explains she didn’t want to come to Loo Loo Land to begin with, to which Stolas apologizes and explains he thought she loved it there. Octavia ascertains she used to when her parents weren’t fighting and didn’t hate each other, and when Stolas wasn’t constantly flirting with Blitzo the entire time. When Stolas tries and fails to explain why he's doing all of it, he resorts to silence and explains he doesn’t have the words for it. Octavia says that she wishes to go home, but that now home doesn’t feel like home, and that Stolas ruined it. After more failed explanations, Octavia finally asks him point-blank if he's going to eventually abandon her and run off, to a place she can’t find him.

Stolas hugs Octavia

Stolas hugs Octavia and promises he will never leave her

Realizing how hurt his daughter was, Stolas wraps her in a hug and finally sees what he'd been doing. He promises her he will never abandon her, making her smile before agreeing that they should leave Loo Loo Land for someplace that Octavia would rather be. Stolas carries Octavia in his arms and quickly turns an assassin to stone as they leave. The duo smiles contently while the park burns behind them, and Stolas asks his daughter what she’d like to do now, which she answers with a place that sells taxidermy. Octavia is thankful for her father listening to her as the two walk out of the - thanks to Blitzo - now burning down amusement park as she smiles, saying he’s okay sometimes.

Seeing Stars[]

Waking up one day, Octavia realizes that it's the day that Azathoth's Tears - a meteor-shower like display that occurs every thousand years - would be visible. Her father told her about them during one of his story times when she was a little girl and promised that they would see it together. Unfortunately, when Octavia finds her father, he's too busy dealing with his recent divorce from Stella (i.e. continuing to argue with her over the phone while getting her stuff out) to uphold their promise. Angry that her father's too busy yelling at her mother, Octavia decides to watch Azathoth's Tears on her own. To that end, she sneaks into I.M.P.'s office (while they're having they're own spat), takes her father's grimoire from Blitzo's safe, and uses it to open a portal to Earth.

Stolas is informed of what Octavia's done when Blitzo reluctantly calls him. Understandably, Stolas is angry with the imp about him losing both Octavia and his grimoire, barging into the office in his full demon form and expressing his undeniable anger—though this shifts to worry about where she is and why she would run off like this, panicking and pacing around. The first question is answered when Loona takes a sniff and learns from the smell that Octavia went to Los Angeles. With the location discovered, Stolas and I.M.P. head into the city to find Octavia. However, early on in the search, Stolas and Blitzo get apprehended due to the latter being mistaken for an actor that was needed for a TV show and the former accidentally implicating himself as the actor's agent. As they're being driven to the studio, Stolas notes to Blitzo that Octavia could be in danger and they don't have time for the diversion. Without much recourse, Blitzo shouts at Loona to find Octavia while telling Stolas that she's in good hands. At the studio, Stolas continues to worry about Octavia's well-being as Blitzo bumbles his way through trying to act in a sitcom. Luckily, Blitzo manages to give them the opportunity to escape and continue finding Octavia.

While all of that's happening, Octavia had found an observatory where she could see Azathoth's Tears - only to find, much to her frustration, the smog in the sky is too thick to see through. As Octavia's crying to herself at how she wasted her time, Loona, having found her via her photos, walks up to her and tells her that her father is worried for her. Octavia is incredulous at that claim as she notes that Loona is there instead of Stolas before going on to disparage him for not keeping his promise and spending more time fighting with Stella. Octavia states she feels like Stolas hates Stella more than he loves his own daughter. In response, Loona - drawing from experience - tells Octavia that all fathers make mistakes but they're at least trying to be there for their children, pointing out that Stolas is in the city looking for her at that moment. Octavia is convinced by hearing that, and the two leave the observatory to get back to their fathers.

Octavia and Loona soon open a portal to where Stolas and Blitzo are. Octavia apologizes to her father about running off before explaining why she did so. Stolas panics at that as he finally remembers his promise for the two of them to see Azathoth's Tears together, but Octavia tells him that it's okay as he's there now. The two of them - along with Blitzo and Loona - then go on to a watch a fireworks display over the city.

Fanon[]

Stolavia is a popular familial ship for the Helluva Boss fandom. The second episode gave many fans a stark whiplash revealing Stolas’ struggles to connect with his daughter, as the addition of the song “You Will Be Okay” led many to appreciate Stolas’ character realizing his love for his daughter. A main appeal for the father-daughter duo is Octavia’s fear being losing her father throughout her childhood to the present. Fans of the ship are appreciative of Stolas working to better his flaws for Octavia. As these fans see it, Stolas's love for Octavia is the one thing that goes above his love for Blitzo. It is also popular for the reason of comparing the dynamic to Blitzoona, a parallel pairing consisting of Blitzo and his daughter. A fellow Hellaverse father-daughter duo Charcifer is also compared to Stolavia.

On AO3, this ship has a significant number of works, having tagged entries in the 180's range. It's Octavia's most written ship. It's also Stolas' second-most written behind Stolitz.
