SusaMaya is the femslash ship between Maya Fey and Susato Mikotoba from the Ace Attorney fandom.

Canon

Since both are from different timelines, Maya being from the 2000's and Susato from the 1900's, they never met. However they share similarities, with both being the main characters' (both being attorneys) assistants, and also their closest friends. Susato and Maya never met, but they are considered being the most popular girls in their respective games/timelines.

As said before, both are the main assistants of the respective attorneys (Phoenix and Ryuunosuke), and both being their closest friends, if not the first ones. Both also have a cheerful attitude at times, but while Susato is more serious, she still has her joyful side, while the same going with Maya, she's cheerful but has her serious attitude at times too. Both met the main characters before their trials; in Maya and Phoenix's case, Maya was accused for killing her sister and had been found by Phoenix in the crime scene, while in Ryuunosuke and Susato's case, Ryuunosuke was accused for killing an important person, but he barely got to meet Susato until the trial had finished.

They were also temporarily playable characters, with Maya being playable in few ocassions like when she was kidnapped by Shelly de Killer for making her hostage so that they would find the defendant innocent of the case (who ended up being the mastermind behind all the crime and kidnapping, and was arrested at the end). Susato was playable when she was willing to defend her best friend by disguising herself as a guy (taking the name of "Ryutaro Naruhodo", and calling himself as Ryuunosuke's cousin). Both are also skilled girls; Maya at channeling, and Susato at martial arts.

Fanon

SusaMaya it's not popular ship within the fandom. It's rather a rare-pair than a known ship, almost non-existent. At least romantically, since in the family/friendship side it's known. It is implied their clans are connected somehow (Fey and Mikotoba's), and it's theorized they share an ancestor-descendant bond, but it's been confirmed not being true however it's widely accepted by the fandom. Because of this, rather than a romantic pairing, it's familial or friendship. Since they could hardly meet because, as said before, they are from different timelines, it's hard to tell if there are fans who can enjoy their relationship.

There are theories about the ship between Maya and Phoenix being in fact, RyuuSusa's ship descendant (Susato/Ryuunosuke, but as mentioned it's turned to be not true, only in Ryuunosuke and Phoenix's case which both have a descendant-ancestor canon bond), since they are similar to each other, and because both Susato and Maya are treated as the main love interests. However, the ships also have their respective rivals, being AsoRyuu and NaruMitsu, which ships include the main characters' best friend/rival (Kazuma and Edgeworth, respectively).

There are no fics for both, since it's theorized being ancestor-descendant, but once more not being true, they can't meet, but there are artworks about them (mostly drawn as crossovers). They are sometimes drawn together in fan arts, as both are the main assistants of their respective games/timelines, also known as "Ace Assistants". Both are considered on being "girlbosses" in the fandom too.

• Both wear kimonos, but have different features and meanings; Maya's kimono is similar to the traditional outfits worn by japanese spirit mediums, while Susato draws inspiration from the typical Meiji period jōgakusei image.
