Sweet Melody is the femslash ship between Mari and Monika from the Doki Doki Literature Club! and Omori fandoms.

Canon

The two have never met, and their not even in the same universe, but official art has been made for the pair, by OMOCAT. The two are pretty similar though. Mari and Monika both have an interest in playing the piano. The two can be a bit of perfectionists at times, mostly at the piano. The two also have an "M" in the first letter of their names.

The two also have something related with the word "hanging". Mari was believed to have hung herself, while Monika has been the reason of someone's death of hanging. The two are mostly described as "sweet" "caring" or such. Though, fans describe Monika as "evil" at times, so she could be the total opposite of Mari. The two are also very important characters of their games, it is mostly later on in the games they are in which they get mentioned a lot. The two are sometimes the joking type. It's clear that Mari jokes with Hero a lot. While, Monika jokes with her friends.

The two are also pretty close with the main character in the games there in, for Monika the main character is a good friend and love interest of hers. For Mari, the main character is her brother. The two have almost similar appearances as well. The two wear skirts, though Monika wears a school uniform. In official art, Monika is shown to be a white dress, and Mari wears a white dress at times. The two also have similar hair lengths, though Monika's hair is a tad bit longer. The two also wear something around their neck.

Fanon

Fans often see this as a "crack ship" of some sort. Sweet Melody is usually shipped due to their similarities or in interest in the piano. Fans like to say that the two would be really good friends, or even possibly piano partners. Rivals of the ship are Sayonika, HeroMari or even Piano Buddies as they are far more popular than Sweet Melody. This is more of a side ship in the fandoms. Due to them being from different games, not much is known about the fandoms opinion on the ship. Most fans like to believe that the two could be great friends.

Fans like to joke around and AUs where Monika hangs Mari. In reference to Sayori, someone Monika has "hanged". Fans also compare this to SayoMari and SunMari because it is like Monika is the Sunny in this case. Fans usually tend to ship it because of the official art made by OMOCAT for the pair. Saying it's a "ship tease" of some sort. Sometimes fans prefer the ship in friendship more than romantic. The ship currently has 6 works on Archive Of Our Own.
