Sweethearts is the het ship between The Damsel and the Voice of the Smitten from the Slay the Princess fandom.
Canon[]
The Damsel is unlocked through indisputably rescuing the Princess. The Smitten, as his title suggests, is completely lovestruck and head-over-heels for her. She reciprocates, though during her pro-Happily Ever After stage she is unaware of the voices in the player's head. She materializes once you warn her and resist The Narrator's assuming your body to slaughter her. She'll mercy kill you, tearfully and messily.
The Damsel Route[]
The player will find the Damsel cheerful and thankful to see them again. Smitten typically fawns and exaggerates her elegance and beauty, much to the exasperation of The Narrator. Attempting questions will only have her give baseless and selfless answers. Smitten can free her by leaving the cabin together via power of love. An alternative route to their interrelation can ensue.
With every consultation the protagonist asks of her, she continuously responds with wanting to make them happy; this highlights her flat character. However, deconstruction settles in when the player suggests they stay together in the cabin.
Since the general princess(es) wish to escape, she becomes hesitant in accepting the player's wishes. The Smitten, however, will take this as rejection and go to extreme matters to coax her. Said methods include tearing out the hero's heart in a horrific resemblance of figuratively showing your heart. The pro-Damsel is understandably unsettled by this, though more concerned over the player's well being than the context. As she reaches out to the organ, mesmerized, Happily Ever After cuts in.
Fanon[]
The Sweethearts ship is decently recognized in the fandom in correlation with the Happy Ending ship. Their popularity likely stems from their appreciation and favoritism from the community. Fans find the Narrator's obtrusive spite for any romantic influence comes off as humorous to both the voices and the player. Despite the dubious authenticity of their love, fans enjoy "memeing" and conjuring fan arts of them.
