TaiYuzu is the het ship between Taiju Oki and Yuzuriha Ogawa from the Dr. Stone fandom.

Canon

Taiju had a crush on Yuzuriha since their childhood together. One day he decided on telling Yuzuriha his true feelings towards her, but before he did that, he already had told his other childhood friend Senku about his plan, and that the place where he was going to confess was outside the school. Even if Senku didn't seem on caring about that, he made the highest bet when one of his classmates proposed on who would win it, betting that his feelings would definitely be reciprocated in a ten billion percent, showing that Senku himself does care about his childhood friend's feelings.

Then, suddenly something that they didn't expect for was already happening; all the whole world was turning into stone because of some strange green light coming from a far distance that was approaching quickly on where Taiju was confessing to Yuzuriha. Taiju had no idea on what was the light and what consequences could bring, but even so, as he was risking himself, he told Yuzuriha to hide behind the closest tree as possible while him was trying on protecting Yuzuriha, turning into a stone in the process along with her, Senku, the people from Japan, and the world itself.

Taiju manages to wake up 3,700 years later after he could get break the petrification that was preventing him to move. He noticed that the world had completely changed, and he decided on researching while he took some things for wearing on, as he was naked. Taiju then remembers the time before the petrification affected the whole Earth, when he was going to bring a petrified swallow to the pet store and then he found himself with Yuzuriha. He felt nervous, while asking for himself of why she had to found him while he was acting like an "idiot", since he was bringing a swallow right to the pet shop without knowing their condition. Yuzuriha then shows him another swallow that herself had found which it was in the same state like Taiju's, and so he laughed while being glad about that Yuzuriha was in his same situation, while Ogawa complained to him with a little frustration on her tone that he was going to do the same too.

Back on time, Taiju manages to find a petrified Yuzuriha with the tree that was protecting her for a long time. Taiju cried as soon as she saw her, being glad that she is still was there with the tree that once protected and still protects her. He heads off to investigate a little more while telling Yuzuriha that he would return to see her again, and then luckily managed on meeting again with his childhood friend, Senku.

After Senku told him about his story from when he managed on wake up, and how he knew about the time it was, Taiju led Senku to where Yuzuriha was and so both worked together for a cure for the petrification, using petrified swallows as a proof for the cure. When they finally made it, which it was nitric acid, they get attacked by a group of lions coming from the forest, and with no choice, they decided on applying the acid on Tsukasa, who was the strongest primate student, and was petrified, while Taiju told Yuzuriha that she had to wait a bit more and when Tsukasa woke up, he defeated the beasts with his great strength, saving both guys.

When they enemisted with Tsukasa, they both hurried up for depetrifying Yuzuriha by dressing her first and then applying the acid on her, which it successfully worked and both saw how Yuzuriha was herself again, while Taiju grabbed her to prevent her from falling as soon she was depetrified.

The childhood friends then made up a plan for stopping Tsukasa, Taiju decides to fight on Senku's side for the petrified people's sake, but then he gets beat up by Tsukasa and so he retires from the place. Senku told Taiju while he was unconscious that he had to focus on protecting Yuzuriha rather than worrying about people he didn't know. Taiju wakes up while assuring that he had a lot of strength, while Yuzuriha said that she was glad that he had woke up. As soon as they planed on escaping, Senku was doubting about their location, Yuzuriha then runs towards a place that she knew while both Taiju and Senku followed her. She cried when she saw that her favorite place was still there after a long time since the Earth was petrified, which helped Taiju and Senku on knowing their current location. Yuzuriha and company went to a place full of gunpowder, which contained hot springs in which Taiju and her decided on taking a small bath while being blocked by a wood wall for keeping their privacy. Taiju then told her that he had something to tell her after waiting for years of waiting but that in the stone world that they were living now he wouldn't feel manly if he told her about it, and then he stopped while apologized to Yuzuriha saying that she didn't know about what he was talking about, but Yuzuriha denies saying that she did understand. Taiju then finishes with the conversation asking Yuzuriha if he could finish what he had keeping for 3700 years once they saved the civilization and so the world, she then smiled as she accepted.

Tsukasa then knew about their plan, and so he saw smoke from a distance, knowing now about Senku and his friends' location. When he got there, he uses Yuzuriha as a hostage while Tsukasa asked Senku about the nitric acid's recipe, Yuzuriha begged Senku that he didn't had to tell him about it, but then Tsukasa cuts her hair when Senku declined on saying it. Senku, knowing the danger, he gave up and told him step by step about the nitric acid's recipe knowing that even if he had told him, Tsukasa would kill him anyways but that he would have a painless death. Taiju was collecting wood for gunpowder in a distanced place, he then noticed that something was wrong, and so he headed over to where Yuzuriha and Senku were, only to watch Tsukasa "kill" Senku. When Tsukasa fulfilled his mission, he retired again leaving Yuzuriha and Taiju crying over his supposed dead friend. Yuzuriha then points out about a small piece of petrification that was on Senku's nape, and told Taiju to apply some of their nitric acid there. For their surprise, it worked, and they managed on reviving Senku together, and so they held back their joy tears while Yuzuriha welcomed back him.

As soon as Senku woke up, Yuzuriha made a flag with a rocket in it, and so Senku decided on splitting away with his childhood friends while he said that both Yuzuriha and Taiju would spy Tsukasa's place while Senku gathered allies for fighting him, since Tsukasa didn't had to know that he was still alive, plus that he would make a phone for contacting both once he finishes it. Before splitting away, Taiju called for Senku while Yuzuriha was trying to calm Taiju since they were unaware about Tsukasa's location in that time, and thanks to this, Taiju raised his fist in sign of "we will meet again", and Senku received the message and he did the same raising the flag that Yuzuriha and Taiju made for him, marking the place of farewell between the childhood friends.

Time later, when Gen, Chrome, and Magma set the phone right in where Taiju and Yuzuriha were going to arrive, which was a Senku's fake grave, they made on contacting Senku while both Yuzuriha and Taiju sounded happy about hearing Senku again, and so Senku is shown holding back some tears of gladness when he managed on hearing his friends that were still alive.

Before Yuzuriha and Taiju picked up the phone right in the agreed place which Senku pointed out before, Taiju felt way too excited for calling Senku that he celebrated it while raising his voice to the sky while Yuzuriha tried on calming him down since they didn't know if Tsukasa was near the place where both where, Taiju then apologizes for that, knowing that it happened before right before splitting up with Senku.

Moments

• In the 5th episode, Taiju is shown applying nitric acid on Yuzuriha's feet when she said that something from there was bothering her.
• In the first opening, it'ss seen Taiju doing sort of kabedon to a petrified Yuzuriha, while it's known that in that moment Taiju promised on saving Yuzuriha somehow.
  • In the second opening, it's seen Yuzuriha and Taiju together in Senku's fake grave where they were going to receive the phone for contacting Senku.
• In Ginro's imagination on how Taiju and Yuzuriha would be, it's shown both in a different style of how they were in reality.
• In season 4, ending, a tarot card of them two is shown. This card appears on episode two, replacing Tsukasa's. They're the only couple in a tarot card.

Fanon

TaiYuzu is a very popular ship among Dr. Stone fans that gained more popularity with the premiere of the anime. At first, some fans were afraid that Taiju and Yuzuriha's relationship would steal Senku's spotlight or simply considered their romance not that interesting. However, the characterization they gained in the final moments of the first arc before parting ways with Senku, their return in the Stone War Arc to defeat Tsukasa's empire, and their brief interactions afterwards as official members of the Kingdom of Science made Taiju and Yuzuriha's initial interactions quite beloved in retrospect to fans who were initially skeptical of the pairing.

TaiYuzu can be shipped alongside either Sengen or Senhaku, both ships of their childhood friend Senku. The ship also is often compared and shipped alongside Chruri due to both couples being about childhood friends with a passionate and dedicated boy, and a calm and sweet girl who supports him. The shippers' friendship only grew stronger when both couples became official at the end of the manga in adorable wedding scenes.

On AO3, the ship has 252 fanfics on the romantic side of it and only 20 that focus on friendship side of the ship. Based on the amount of fanfics, TaiYuzu is currently the fifth most written ship under the Dr. Stone tag and the most written ship for both Taiju and Yuzuriha.
