- Do your best.
- —Takashi to Miya, SK8 Chill Out! - Line 12.
TakaMiya is the slash ship between Miya Chinen and Takashi from the SK8 the Infinity fandom.
Canon[]
Takashi was one of Miya's old friends that had abandoned him when he became a popular skater. He's first seen at the third episode of the anime, where he's leaving a classroom as he glared at Miya for a moment until a girl asked Takashi to wait for her. That's when he leaves the place as the girl asked Takashi if he knew [Miya], to which he only denies it, stating he didn't know him at all. Miya could only stare at Takashi getting away with his classmate.
When he arrived at his home, Miya saw his parents with an open photo album, to which he asks them what were they doing. They reply that a reporter wanted photos of him from when he started skating, as the father held a photo of Miya and Takashi when they were young, and then lent it to his wife to ask her about what she thought of the photo, to which he gets a positive answer from her part, pointing out that Miya was having fun. Miya then suddenly snatches the photo away from his mother and hides his hand with it behind him as he angrily wraps it, causing the photo to wrinkle completely.
Prior to his race against Adam, Miya is repulsed by the idea of friendship, because of what happened to him in the past, and he tends to become resented of people being friendly to each other. This is shown when Reki clinged onto Langa and shaked him before the race that night. During the competition, Miya remembers when Takashi and his other old friends left him, as Takashi stated that the hero (Miya) couldn't play with "slimes" (himself and his other friends). After Miya lost at the beef against Langa, Reki explains to Miya about the reason of his defeat: his lack of fun, and skating was about that. Miya wonders about the word "fun", and it's in that moment when he flashbacks again when he used to skate alongside Takashi, explaining that it used to be fun, but everyone had disappeared from then on. He concludes that the better anyone became, they would all disappear in the end. Reki and Langa would then reassure the boy that they wouldn't disappear, and before it, Langa proposes him to race against each other again, as it was fun doing so with him.
At the end credits of the anime, Miya walks through a hallway in his school, in which he runs into Takashi again as the latter said something to him while passing by Miya. Because of what he said, it made Miya feel relieved and caused him to run to somewhere with a happy and satisfied expression on his face.
In SK8 Chill Out! - line 12, it's shown the famous scene of Takashi and Miya at the end of the anime, but this time Takashi's words to Miya are revealed which were "Do your best".

Takashi's words to Miya
After that line, Miya dashes to somewhere to pick up a skateboard and excitedly asks Takashi if he wants to skate with him, since it happened that he had a spare board with him. The next scene both are seen skating, and Takashi comments that there had been a rumor about ["S"] (referring it as a secret race held on some mountain), and that if the rumor was true, he'd like to go there, but Miya only advices him on not doing that, as he says there was a bunch of weird old dudes there (and next to Miya it says "Eyes like they've seen a battlefield...").
In the OVA, Miya is invited inside Reki's house due to a sudden heavy rain, and is reluctlant about it as it was the first time he visited someone's else place aside from Takashi's, whom he refers as "Taka".
Quotes[]
- “Fun? It was fun. It was really fun, indeed. In the beginning. But... Everyone disappeared. The better you become... They all disappear in the end anyway!”
- — Miya, as he flashbacked his former friendship with Takashi and his other old friends.
Fanon[]
While TakaMiya is a somewhat known ship in the fandom, it's not that appreciated because of Miya's past and how it had affected him. This also had effect on many fans, especially Miya's supporters, who were particularly against Takashi and his other friends, overall their actions, but there are others who were okay with that fact that Miya and Takashi could finally reconcile by the end of the anime, though this development seemed rushed or sudden to many.
Due to the lack of ships for Miya (because he's around people way older than him, and fans prefer avoid shipping Miya romantically with any of them, or rather doing so but as family/friendship), Takashi is one option for him, and the second could be also Koyomi (Reki's sister), although the latter doesn't interact with Miya or has even met him, but still it's somewhat known in the fandom, but mostly shipped as friendship as the two are minors, same going with Takashi's case.
On AO3, it has a decent amount of works, with there being 49+ for the romantic side and 30+ for the gen/friendship side.
