TanMako is the het ship between Makomo and Tanjiro Kamado from the Demon Slayer fandom.
Canon[]
Makomo and Tanjiro first met during Tanjiro’s training. Makomo was next to Tanjiro when he woke up from being knocked out by Sabito. When Tanjiro woke up Makomo asked if he was okay, right after Tanjiro immediately asks Makomo if she saw what happened as well. Tanjiro goes on about how incredible it was and wants to be like that too. He then questions if he can do it, to which Makomo responds that she is sure he can and says she will watch over him. Tanjiro then goes on to ask who she is, while thinking Makomo is cute. Makomo tells him her name and Sabito’s name. Makomo goes on to help Tanjiro improve his style and correct unnecessary movements. This goes on for a while, during this time Tanjiro goes on to ask Makomo why she is doing this and where she came from but Makomo does not tell it. Makomo at some point tells Tanjiro about her and sabito and their relation to Urokodaki.
Tanjiro does think that Makomo is a bit of a strange girl, since she says things in a weird way. Meanwhile Makomo goes on to explain total concentration breathing to him and that he must train hard. After Tanjiro defeated Sabito, Makomo says “Win Tanjiro… …against them to” before disappearing.
When Tanjiro is leaving for the final selection, he waves Sakonji goodbye and tells him to say hello to Makomo and Sabito. A moment after Tanjiro said this, Sakonji questioned how Tanjiro knows the names of the dead. During Tanjiro's time at the final selection he encounters the hand demon, who tanjiro goes on to fight. Meanwhile the scene shifts to Makomo and Sabito in which Makomo asks Sabito if Tanjiro can beat him. At some point during his fight against the hand demon, the hand demon tells tanjiro that he goes on to kill all those who wear Urokudaki’s warding masks. The hand demon then goes on to tell about his encounter with Makomo and how he killed her. After hearing this anger can be seen on Tanjiro’s face. Tanjiro eventually beats the hand demon, to which the scene for a moment shifts to a scene where all of Urokudaki’s students, who have been killed by that demon, can be seen including Makomo and Sabito. Makomo can then be seen disappearing for good and rest alongside the other fallen students.

TanMako is a rare pair in the fandom. This is due to the fact that Makomo only appears for a short time in the series. However, despite her only appearing for a short amount of time, people like the bond Tanjiro and Makomo share. One of the main reasons people started to like the pairing is due to the fact that Tanjiro upon meeting Makomo thought Makomo is cute. People also tend to like the pairing, due to Makomo showing kindness to Tanjiro and helping him to improve his skills.
Fans have created stories for them where Makomo is alive and in which the Tanjiro and Makomo would at some point meet and would become friends or more then just friends
