- She has the most potential, so she's our ray of hope!
- —Tanjiro regarding Mitsuri
TanMitsu is the het ship between Tanjiro Kamado and Mitsuri Kanroji from the Demon Slayer fandom.
Canon[]
Tanjiro and Mitsuri seem to get along very well and become friends quickly. They have the most interactions in the Swordsmith Village arc, where they costantly fight and talk together.
Mitsuri always got along with Tanjiro since they first met. She was the only hashira besides Giyu who did not want to kill Tanjiro and Nezuko right away at the trial. Her thoughts were that killing such an adorable child as him pains her heart and fills her with anguish.
When Mitsuri sees Tanjiro again at the Swordsmith Village, she ran towards him complaining about Genya ignoring her in the hot springs. Tanjiro tells her that dinner will ready very soon, and she immediately cheers up. After Tanjiro comes back from the hot springs, they have dinner together while talking. Before Mitsuri has to go, she whispers to Tanjiro that there's a secret weapon in this village that makes you stronger. He then holds up his plate while having a nosebleed.
During the fight against Zohakuten, Tanjiro gets trapped by a wooden dragon and is about to get crushed. Mitsuri arrives just in time and saves him. She tells him that he did a good job and that he can take a break now. Later Mitsuri is about to cut Zohakuten's neck, Tanjiro calls out and tells her it's not the main body. Shortly after, Mitsuri gets struck by a powerful attack, and is left defenseless. As another attack comes, she gets saved by Tanjiro, Genya and Nezuko. Tanjiro says they need to protect her because she has the most potential and is their ray of hope.
Mitsuri is about to die aganist Zohakuten because of stamina loss, however Tanjiro cuts off the head of the main body just in time to save her. She then runs up to everyone who helped defeat Gyokko and Hantengu and hugs them while crying.
The two are reunited during the Hashira Training Arc, when Tanjiro visits Mitsuri and attends her training course along with other demon slayers. When Tanjiro arrived, Mitsuri greeted him, inviting him inside her residence where him and the others would be training. Tanjiro bows before Mitsuri, expressing that he was glad to see her, Mitsuri felt the same for Tanjiro. Tanjiro noticed the smell of honey and asked Mitsuri if she kept bees, to which Mitsuri answered yes, dragging Tanjiro inside her residence after expressing her love for topping her pancakes/bread with honey. Mitsuri then offered Tanjiro pancakes topped with fresh honey and butter, and that she will offer him tea at three o'clock.
Afterwards, Tanjiro is seen training alongside his fellow demon slayers.
Fanon[]
TanMitsu is a very unpopular ship in the Demon Slayer fandom, as there are only a few fan fictions of the ship. Many dislike it saying that Tanjiro is still a minor. However, the people who do ship it think that Tanjiro's nosebleed scene can be proof that he has a crush on Mitsuri, but it's speculated that he becomes anxious whenever coming in close contact with women, considering he also blushed around Shinobu.
