Tatney is the femslash ship between Sidney Prescott and Tatum Riley from the Scream fandom

Canon

Sidney and Tatum had been friends for a long time. Along with that, they cared a lot about each other. Tatum was always caring and loving to Sidney; the girls were also in a friend group with their boyfriends (Stu who was Tatum's and Billy who was Sidney's) and Randy. After Sidney is attacked by Ghostface for the first time, Tatum arrives as soon as possible after the police and ambulance arrive. Dewey even annoys Tatum when trying to check on Sidney.

Tatum shows a lot of care and affection towards Sidney as seen at the police station where she comforts Sidney, who is clearly scared by Ghostface attacking her at her home. Tatum is there for her, even in her bad choices as she was excited about Sidney punching Gale after getting her mad with Gale saying she would send a copy of a book related to her mother. Instead of calling her out, however, Tatum made fun of it to cheer up Sidney.

However, their friendship is cut short. This is due to Tatum being crushed by a garage door by Ghostface when being chased. Sidney finds her friend Tatum crushed in the door, and this would cause Sidney to keep running untill she gets to the Gale’s news van. The moment of Tatum's death clearly left an impact on Sidney and of course Dewey.

Fanon

Scream doesn't have many ships due to the fandom focus on the movies themselves, one of the few ships in the fandom being Galey and Stuilly. Most people in the fandom look over Tatney mostly because Tatum died in the first movie and both girls are portrayed as straight. However there have been plenty of AUs where Tatum and Sidney are the killers instead of Stu and Billy. though this ship is very much overshadowed by Stuilly, which is quite ironic and funny since the ship is between their boyfriends.

Sidney and Tatum's friendship is one many of Scream fans seem to enjoy, and often think Tatum should have survived so she could still be there for Sidney since Tatum really cared about her, bringing the best out of the final girl. They both really seem to care about one another and fans seem to love how much they did.

On AO3, Tatney is the second most written ship for both Tatum and Sidney. There are currently 50+ written works.
