Falling Constellation[]
The True Constellations
Elderberry encountered Taurus Cookie while journeying with Starfruit Cookie toward the landing spot of the falling constellation.
Hearing some disruptive sounds, Elderberry initially thought it was Starfruit Cookie and asked her to be quiet, but she stated that it wasn't her. Starfruit Cookie then identified the noise as snoring, which Elderberry confirmed. He said that the moonlight was aiding visibility and wondered if he would catch sight of a star for the first time.
It was then revealed that the snoring was actually coming from Taurus Cookie. Taurus Cookie says “It's myyyy... Booocconciniiii cheeseeee bird... Zzz...” in her sleep and Elderberry questions what a ‘Bocconcini cheese bird’ was before remembering that he was an astrologist and not an ornithologist. Starfruit Cookie butts in, saying how that wasn't important, and that she's never heard of a cookie sleeping in the Pantheon. Elderberry follows up by mentioning the disorder caused by the falling stars and asks about the presence of horns on Taurus Cookie's head. Taurus Cookie continues to mumble in her sleep before suddenly awaking.
Taurus Cookie inquires about her whereabouts, and Elderberry comments on how convenient it is for her to “join us in the waking world.” He then inquires whether she has witnessed any descending constellations ― something grandiose, celestial, and potentially shining or shimmering. Taurus Cookie responds, “Falling constellations? I fell though,” dragging out her words. Elderberry acknowledges that Taurus Cookie must be quite exhausted and disoriented from the chaos, but requests that she communicates more clearly. Elderberry elaborates that there were a collection of stars falling through Pantheon, suggesting that the dust and smoke could be a consequence of that event.
Observing the Constellations
Elderberry Cookie questions whether Taurus Cookie claimed to be one of the constellations in the sky and requests evidence to support the claim. Taurus Cookie responds hesitantly about the need to provide proof. Elderberry Cookie then accuses her of assembling various legends without basis and dismisses the idea of a constellation being banished for laziness. He states that such a notion was an insult to the constellations, which, according to his observations, have only ever shone brightly. Taurus Cookie thanks him, but Elderberry Cookie clarifies that his comment was not directed at her and concludes by stating that he was not there to hear unfounded stories. He then questions where the true fallen star was.
Elderberry Cookie searches for the fallen star, using his telescope to scan the skies and adjusting settings to see through possible cosmic obstructions. Starfruit Cookie notes a magical energy from certain objects, suggesting the arrival of a sacred star and the need for a ceremony. Despite careful observation, Elderberry Cookie struggles to locate the brightest constellation and fears it might be hidden or missing.
Suddenly, he recognizes a faint, familiar light and identifies Taurus Cookie. Taurus cookie comments on how pretty the sky was, comparing it to ‘a field of twinkling flowers or glittering rain.’ Elderberry notices that Taurus Cookie's horns emit a soft glow, and he speculates whether they are composed of naturally luminescent material, as he has heard of organisms that possess such a quality. Elderberry Cookie observes Taurus Cookie wandering outside, despite Starfruit Cookie's instructions to remain in the temple.
Taurus Cookie claims to be collecting honey for Aquarius Cookie but becomes distracted by the taste and is soon attacked by Fullmoon Wasps. Elderberry Cookie notes her resilience and physical durability but concludes she is reckless, uninformed, and likely delusional about being a constellation. Starfruit Cookie arrives shortly after with the Priestesses of the Stars, explaining she followed a magical signal to find Taurus Cookie. They mention a ritual to open the Celestial Gates, which Taurus Cookie was meant to be present for. Elderberry expresses skepticism, asking to see the records, but Starfruit Cookie refuses, citing mistrust of outsiders.
A disagreement follows over the validity of star-guided rituals versus scientific observation. Elderberry presents meteorological patterns as counter-evidence to their guidance. Starfruit Cookie reaffirms her intentions to carry out the ritual and restore the Nebula Spring. Elderberry, in turn, commits to proving through science that Taurus Cookie is not a constellation. Taurus Cookie, still focused on honey and largely unaware of the situation, offers some to the others while the rest of the Cookies urge her to quiet down.
In Search of a Way
Taurus Cookie notices Elderberry Cookie nearby and asks why he is there. Elderberry explains he wanted to review the Pantheon's records but acknowledges these are not accessible to everyone. Starfruit Cookie arrives, questioning Elderberry's presence and reminding him some areas are off-limits. The Priestesses of the Stars confront Elderberry, but Starfruit vouches for him.
The group discusses records about a ceremony to open the Celestial Gates. Elderberry interprets a verse from the records, explaining that the phrase “a night where moonlight is slight” refers to optimal conditions for star observation, when the moon's light is minimal so stars shine brighter. Starfruit acknowledges this explanation, and Elderberry suggests that with this understanding, they might predict when the Gates can be opened. Taurus Cookie expresses excitement about Elderberry's assistance.
Starfruit Cookie reluctantly admits that Elderberry made a good point earlier: it's arrogant to believe only one perspective is valid, and no Cookie should try to solve everything alone. However, she still express mistrust toward Elderberry and outsiders in general. Elderberry responds calmly, pointing out that faith and trust are meant to be virtues among the Oracles. He questions what harm could come from simply allowing an outsider to view the records. Taurus Cookie supports Elderberry, reminding Starfruit Cookie that she trusts her. Though flustered, Starfruit redirects the focus back to the records and warns Elderberry not to take anything from the Pantheon.
