Episode 3

TazuMai are featured in each of the two eyecatch pictures for this episode, although only Mai makes an appearance.

Episode 5

This is when TazuMai’s relationship is first introduced, starting with their first meeting.

The episode begins with Mai napping on the grass when a cat suddenly crawls on top of her to join her. Mai wakes up at this and leans her head back, only to be startled by Tazusa staring down at her. Tazusa complains how that very cat will eat the food that Tazusa gives it but won’t let Tazusa touch it. Mai tells Tazusa that perhaps now is the chance to try petting it then since the cat is sleeping, but Tazusa finds such a move to be cowardly. Mai dismisses this notion while petting the cat herself, since Tazusa replied in the negative when Mai asked her if she’s trying to eat the cat. Convinced, Tazusa tentatively reaches out, but Mai scolds her for being so tense while doing so. They introduce their names to each other while the cat harshly scratches Tazusa.

Later, the two are walking together, - presumably away from the grassy area they were just at - when they are spotted by Riri, Fumi, and Kaede at a table the group had set up to recruit members for Riri’s legion. Kaede chases after them, declaring that “Beggars can’t be choosers!” while Riri chases after Kaede for being rude. Despite earlier telling Yuyu in private (in the previous episode) that she’s considering joining the legion, Mai directly tells Riri that she currently wants to do her own thing for now. Fumi asks Mai to reconsider, but Tazusa coldly tells Fumi to buzz off, scaring both Fumi and Riri. Mai then waves goodbye to them while she and Tazusa walk away.

Much later, the two are back at a grassy area, lying on the ground. Tazusa asks Mai why she doesn’t join a legion, having figured out that Mai is actually interested in Riri’s legion despite declining the offer to join. Mai notes how sharp Tazusa is to observe that and reveals that she was checking up on the legion for Yuyu’s sake (without naming Yuyu). Mai thinks perhaps she doesn’t need to worry about Yuyu as much anymore, though, since Yuyu seems to be doing much better than before now. When Tazusa expresses surprise at this, Mai doubles down on it being the truth and says she’s more sensitive than she looks.

Later at night, the two chase a black cat onto a street and come across Yuyu, who had just returned from her trip to Koshu. Yuyu questions what the two are doing, as they aren’t on school grounds, and Mai cheerfully reveals that she was showing Tazusa the way to a cat meeting spot. Beside her, Tazusa happily thanks Mai for being why many cats have recently begun to accept Tazusa. Yuyu tells them that she’s glad to see them getting along, and Mai expresses surprise that Yuyu doesn’t care that they’re breaking school rules. After Yuyu explains that it’s not her job and she’s tired anyway, the two continue conversing about Yuyu’s failed expedition for ramune before all three head back to campus together. Tailing behind the two older Lilies, Tazusa notices a trash bin with ramune bottles next to a vending machine stocked with ramune, and she and Mai watch in shock as Yuyu collapses to her knees at the sight of it. Both TazuMai are by Yuyu’s side when she finally gives her birthday gifts to Riri, and both react with awkward shock when Riri immediately recognizes where the ramune came from and when Yuyu falls over into a self-loathing state. After Riri and Yuyu hug as a final birthday present for Riri, Mai begins to laugh, then Mai’s pigtails and Tazusa’s ahoge wag as she reveals that she and Tazusa had already decided earlier to join Riri’s legion as one last actual birthday present from Yuyu to Riri. Tazusa tells Riri to not be shy and take them.

Episode 6

TazuMai both first appear together sitting on the floor back-to-back outside the legion’s meeting room while Riri is questioning their legion’s name. Tazusa doesn’t care what the legion’s name is, so agrees it should be called Team Hitotsuyanagi, while Mai says she already remembered it as Team Hitotsuyanagi. They’re later both sitting on the same side in the legion’s meeting room, with the legion when they’re observing Legion Alfheim’s demonstration of the Neunwelt Tactic, and join the battlefield along with the rest of Team Hitotsuyanagi after Legion Alfheim is forced to withdraw.

Episode 7

The two are shown side-by-side on the floor outside the window of a mysterious girl’s treatment room while Team Hitotsuyanagi observes her. They are later shown sitting next to each other while waiting for Riri, who had stayed behind to observe Yuri for longer, to return to them. While the team is being informed by Riri about her temporary leave from legion duties to care for the girl, Mai agrees with the other members about Riri being compassionate and Tazusa also relates to the feeling right after. After the girl is released from the treatment room and appears next to Yuyu, Tazusa and Mai both crowd around them along with the rest of the team. Tazusa tells Kaede to push closer while Mai agrees, wanting to see what’s going on, too. After finding out that the girl has been named Yuri by Riri after Riri and Yuyu’s couple name, Mai jokes how Yuri is like the fruit of Yuyu and Riri’s love while Tazusa offers Yuri cat food to try with her.

Episode 9

The two show up along with the rest of Team Hitotsuyanagi after they receive orders to arrest Riri and capture Yuri. Tazusa reveals that she’s a Boosted Lily who was experimented on by GEHENA and so she hates and doesn’t trust them. When Yuyu shows up, Mai questions Yuyu’s orders to protect the two since they contradict the academy’s orders, but Yuyu specifies that those orders came from the government and not the academy. TazuMai are shown again when Team Hitotsuyanagi finds Riri and Yuri and then later side-by-side on the shore when Riri is mourning Yuri’s death.

Episode 10

The two, along with the rest of Team Hitotsuyanagi, help Yuyu to try to find Riri’s hair tie. On the third day of trying, they can be seen playing with a cat when they suddenly turn to look over dumbfoundedly at an overly motivated Kaede. On the seventh day, they join hands with all the other Lilies who have shown up to help to combine their Rare skills in one final effort. Mai catches a cold after using her Rare skill Shukuchi to run towards the discovered hair tie, and Tazusa and the rest of the team look over at her and an also sneezing Kaede as they warm up by a makeshift fire. They join all the Lilies outside Riri’s confinement room when Riri is finally released, and after Kaede is revealed to have made a new hair tie to replace Riri’s burnt old one, Mai praises Kaede for being such a good friend. Mai looks on with tears in her eyes and Tazusa looks on sadly when Riri starts sobbing.

Episode 11

While Fumi is conversing with Riri, Mai suddenly pops up from behind them and tells Fumi that she’s sure Fumi will make a great Schild and suggests herself to be Fumi’s Schutzengel if she’s truly got no one else. Tazusa suddenly appears in between them with a cat on her head, unhappily reminding Mai that Mai had said she wouldn’t take on a Schild for a while. After Riri admits to being disappointed that Yuyu hasn’t shown up since she hasn’t seen Yuyu around lately and Yujia notes how Yuyu hasn’t even been in their team’s meeting room for several days, Mai expresses surprise since Yuyu still shows up to lectures and practice. After a while of more chatting, Mai suggests they throw a party next time with everyone, including Yuyu. After the Yurigaoka Lilies are ordered to evacuate when three Huge attack, TazuMai meet up with the rest of Team Hitotsuyanagi (minus Riri and Yuyu) on the outskirts of campus. As the team speculates that Riri might take on the Huge alone after discovering that she’s the only one who can use her CHARM right now, Mai loosely comments on how Riri is as reckless as they come, and Tazusa says she’d like to be reckless, too.

Episode 12

After YuRi unintentionally weaken the Huge’s barrier so that the evacuated Lilies use their Magie again, Team Hitotsuyanagi decides to initiate a long-range Neunwelt Tactic for the two to use. They then parry around the shot until the Huge momentarily steals it, then after Yuyu knocks it back, all the other evacuated Lilies also help out in passing it around, including TazuMai again, until their CHARMs all break. The two of them and the rest of Team Hitotsuyanagi watch from the shore as YuRi are sent on a final mission to eliminate a ruling Huge. In the ending, Tazusa and Mai are both napping while lying on the grass, relaxing under the shade, with several cats on top of Tazusa and Tazusa’s head resting on Mai’s outstretched arm. In the episode’s final group shot with Team Hitotsuyanagi being shown all napping on the ground together, Mai is napping with an arm each around Tazusa and Fumi.

Episode 11

TazuMai and YuRi are stranded on an island. Tazusa and Yuyu are in low spirits since help is taking forever to get to them. Suddenly, Mai returns to them with all smiles and fish that she’d just caught. Tazusa expresses annoyance at Mai’s cheerfulness, but she and Yuyu are hungry so they accept it. Yuyu expresses concern about RIri still being gone, until Riri returns wearing just leaves like Mai is and says that she’s learned to pick fruit from Mai, which angers Yuyu. Observing this, Tazusa tells an oblivious Mai to not drag Riri into her shenanigans.

After a while, Mai gets bored with “camping” and uses her Shukuchi skill to bring things over from the mainland that would cheer the others up, including a cat that Tazusa happily grasps and begins rolling around in the background with.

Episode 12

A Huge appears and Mai wonders where Riri is while Tazusa tells Mai not to worry since Yuyu has gone to look for their leader. Tazusa then confusedly asks if the Huge is talking or if she’s just imagining it. An infuriated Yuyu soon returns to them, yelling at Mai to never give Riri anything again without first asking her about it. Mai has forgotten what she’d given Riri, though, so Yuyu angrily gives back a gigantic figurine that had crushed Riri earlier, and Tazusa blandly comments on how huge it is while Mai laughs upon remembering. TazuMai then watch as the Huge falls in love and takes the figure away, with Tazusa commenting on how the Huge is talking to it like crazy while Mai tells the Huge that it can keep the figure. Afterwards, Tazusa contentedly snacks on a donut while Mai gives a new figure to Riri.

Episode 13

TazuMai and the rest of Team Hitotsuyanagi attend YuRi’s wedding-style Schutzengel party. After Kaede angrily insists the two are not brides despite everyone else calling them that, Tazusa tells Kaede to give up and stop raining on YuRi’s parade while Mai happily offers Kaede cake, causing Kaede to react in further upset at the two of them shutting her down like that.

While observing YuRi’s loving display (complete with a love declaration and a plethora of hearts on the screen), Mai tells the two of them to save it for when they’re both alone while Tazusa adds that they’re newlyweds and implies that this behavior is expected of them. Tazusa then demands another piece of cake from Kaede, who remains deeply upset by what she is seeing.

Later, when Riri does a bouquet toss, Mai decides to smack it like a volleyball serve at Tazusa, who receives it like a volleyball and unintentionally passes it back to Yuyu. Shenlin then asks if Mai even knows what a “bouquet toss” is, to which Mai confidently says yes, and that she and Tazusa won because they didn’t let the bouquet touch the ground. She asks Tazusa for confirmation, but Tazusa has no clue.
