Battle for Dream Island[]

When Tennis Ball's team, the Squashy Grapes, is able to choose a member from the Squishy Grapes to switch over to their team, he and most of his teammates choose Firey. Firey, though, is upset that he's now on a team with Coiny.

When the Squashy Grapes split up into two teams, Tennis Ball and Firey are chosen onto the new team Another Name. During the six-legged race challenge, Tennis Ball whispers to his team to remain quiet so they can get ahead of the Squishy Cherries. Firey excitedly shouts that they're ahead, worrying Tennis Ball that they'll get spotted. When Tennis Ball warns the team of a tightrope ahead, Firey shares that he has a fear of heights as he starts screaming upon walking across.

Later on when Golf Ball and Rocky leave the team during Cake at Stake, Tennis Ball expresses dismay upon being stuck with Firey and Coiny, the two of which continuously slap each other. Before the next challenge, Tennis Ball climbs up the stairs with the other contestants as Coiny and Firey stand on his head slapping each other. Later when Firey lands on the ground after having his balloon popped, Tennis Ball finds him and realizes that Coiny's the only one still left for their team. The two end up in the middle of Bomby's explosion afterwards.

As Tennis Ball tries to break up a fight between Firey and Coiny, Firey asks him what he would know and points out his lack of arms. Coiny then defends Tennis Ball, saying that he would know more than Firey. During Cake at Stake, Firey is the only safe one in the team, leaving Tennis Ball and Coiny to split up from him. Later at night, Tennis Ball asks Firey not to go around setting people he doesn't know on fire.

Before the next challenge starts, Firey cannot resist the urge to keep slapping and slaps Tennis Ball. Tennis Ball gets mad about this as Firey tries to explain that he needs to keep slapping since Coiny was recently eliminated. However, Firey is kicked by Tennis Ball. At the start of the challenge when Firey slaps Tennis Ball three more times, Tennis Ball walks away unwilling to continue working with Firey.

In the frisbee challenge, Firey and Tennis Ball are partnered up when the other remaining contestants choose their partners before them. Tennis Ball throws too close to him in his first shot. After Tennis Ball throws harder with the next frisbee, Firey catches it with his tongue. Tennis Ball compliments the catch but when Firey throws it back, his saliva sticks to Tennis Ball's foot. As Tennis Ball is unable to get the frisbee off of his foot, Firey pleads him to hurry so that the other teams don't catch up to them. Tennis Ball continues to struggle trying to throw the frisbee back to Firey. As the sun is setting, Firey decides to get a new frisbee instead, which Tennis Ball catches in time. The two end up placing third out of the four pairs. They both get 15 points added to their scoreboard for placing 3rd, although Tennis Ball still remains up for elimination in the end.

Battle for Dream Island Again[]

Tennis Ball and Firey hang out with Gelatin and Book on top of the Eiffel Tower. The two, along with Gelatin, end up getting frozen by Book by provoking her. Later on when the Hand-powered Recovery Center is created, Firey uses it to recover Tennis Ball.

During Cake at Stake when Firey blames their loss on Nonexisty, Tennis Ball corrects him and says it was Puffball as he points out her location to him. After Cake at Stake when their team heads over to recover Tennis Ball, Firey shares that he is excited to see him again. After recovering him, Firey tells a happy Tennis Ball that he missed him. Later as the team explores the Live Here Hotel to find a place to sleep, Tennis Ball guides Firey and the rest of the team into staring at a mirror to learn about it. When the team hides in a nearby room to avoid Evil Leafy, Tennis Ball explains to Firey that she won't be able to get them from the other side of the window. However, Evil Leafy is able to phase through the glass to the shock of both of them. Later when they hide in another room using a motion detected door, Firey asks Tennis Ball what's happening on the other side with Evil Leafy. Tennis Ball explains to him that since Evil Leafy moves intstantaneously rather than continuously, the motion detector doesn't register it as a movement and, therefore, won't open the door for Evil Leafy. The two are both relieved by this until Gelatin ends up accidentally setting off the motion detector.

When realizing that Tennis Ball has a chance of obtaining Ruby's Yoylite if he becomes a FreeSmarter, he doesn't want to anger Golf Ball by switching and goes to Firey instead. He asks Firey if they're really close friends, which he confirms, and asks him to do a risky favor. Tennis Ball asks Firey to switch to FreeSmart for just the one challenge to obtain Ruby's Yoylite, while also asking him to promise to switch back next episode. Firey is unsure at first and asks Tennis Ball if he can bring Gelatin too, which Tennis Ball hesitantly allows.

At the next Cake at Stake when Firey ends up being eliminated, Ruby tells him to blame it on Tennis Ball instead of her since he was the one who made him switch teams in the first place. Firey realizes this and angrily shouts at Tennis Ball. Tennis Ball, much further away, hears the screaming and tells Golf Ball that he's worried Firey is having trouble getting the Yoylite. When Firey lands inside the Weak Trembling Fortress, he declares himself Rocky's friend instead of Tennis Ball's.

Fanon[]

Tennisfire is a rarepair in the Battle for Dream Island fandom. The ship emerged the years afterwards of their main interactions in the first and second seasons, with fans first finding their small friendship nice. The pairing picked up within rarepair shippers during the BFDIA revival with more being written onto their dynamic and portraying them as better friends, with the two even referring to each other as close friends at one point. Though, some fans realized that Firey being upset at Tennis Ball for causing his elimination gave a better reason as to why they no longer interacted in future seasons. The ship is still enjoyed as a rarepair through various platforms for the show's shippers.
