During the third challenge, the two can be seen sitting close to each other (Ally in front of Tess). When it's Tess and Hunter's turn to kiss, Ally nervously cheers them on while looking aside, and when they do, she attempts to convince herself in the cabin that it was just a challenge. Hunter then invites Tess to join Ally and him, which is an unexpected visit because Ally smiles nervously and says 'Tess...', for then gigging in said feeling, Hunter adding that she has also come to play with them. Ally reluctantly agrees and admits in the cabin that she didn't dislike Tess, but she assumed Hunter and she would play alone, so the situation was somewhat awkward.

Tess and Ally playing video games
At a certain moment Hunter has to go to the bathroom, telling the two to keep playing while he's gone. The girls agree, however in the next moment Tess confesses in the cabin that she felt like Ally didn't want her there, but she didn't want to let Hunter down. Hunter then meets Connor outside, and this latter tries to convince him to pick one between the two [girls], however he insists that they were just friends. Although Hunter found both Ally and Tess pretty, he doubts either of them is interested in him.

Morning conversation
In the fourth episode, Ally meets up Tess to say good morning, and the latter returns the same greeting. Ally asks if she slept well, to which Tess says decently, and questions her the same, receiving a positive answer. Ally asks for Hunter, and Tess says that he's been acting weird lately, Ally agreeing since the two had priorly agreed on having breakfast together, and Tess assumes that he maybe wanted to go for a walk. Ally offers Tess to play with her if she wanted to, since she would lend her one of her consoles, and Tess considers it for later, when Hunter comes back. The two then go into respective confessional cabins to talk about Hunter's situation, also looking for a solution for this case. During the challenge, Kristal mentions a 'secret' related to Hunter's 'love triangle', which says that Ally and Tess are in love with him and he knows it.

Tess stops Ally from going after Hunter
The next episode Tess and Ally are seen hanging out together until Hunter arrives to greet them, but Tess stands up to say it's time to clear things out. The two are about to mention the 'secret' topic that Kristal had brought out past challenge, but they're interrupted by said woman to announce the next challenge. Hunter is saved, so he walks away while saying that they'd better split up and cover more ground, Ally trying to stop him but it's Tess who holds her shoulder to reason he wasn't ready to talk. While searching for the inmunity token, Ally says that since Hunter didn't want to talk, they should talk to each other instead. Tess asks what she wanted to talk about, and Ally reminds what Kristal had said about Hunter, that they're in love with him.

Talking about being in love
Ally is surprised to hear Tess wasn't 'in love' with him, since she thought it was that way, but Tess explains that he has been very good to her, but wouldn't say she was enamored. When Tess asks for her opinion, she's astounded to Ally's words, since she sounded like someone in love. Ally agrees, but also adds she wouldn't really mind if Tess was in love with him too. Tess asks for an explanation afterwards. After the challenge, in the team's cabin, Hunter meets the two again to talk with them. He was ready to bring the topic once again.

In the cabin, Hunter mentions having talked to the girls about the 'love triangle', and although asking them not to bring the topic once the challenge was over since it was for the best, that didn't stop the two from getting into his bed in the middle of the night.

Worry
The next challenge is to go in pairs back to the camp, having to work as a team to win, and Kristal matches the two in an individual team. At night, the two are on a tree while Tess asks Ally if she sees anything, but gets a negative answer since it was too dark. Tess proposes herself going higher, but Ally stops Tess worrying that she could fall and hurt herself. Tess is surprised that Ally cares about her because she thought Ally was just pretending to be nice to her.

- Ally – “No, nothing. It's too dark.”

- Ally – “Well, sure. You are my friend.”
- Tess – “You and me, friends? I thought you were just pretending to be nice to me so you wouldn't upset Hunter.”

- Tess – “You don't need to worry about me Ally. Let's just complete this challenge.”
- Ally – “Okay, I'm coming after you.”

In the confessional, Ally says that this was the case because she didn't want Hunter to feel bad, but now she feels there's a genuine bond between the two. Meanwhile, Ally and Tess seek safety from the downpour in a cave. Tess begins to have a depressive episode, and Ally does her best to console her. After a while, the two girls sleep in the cave.
- Ally – “Tess? Are you OK?”
- Tess – “Shut up! Just keep quiet. I need... I want this all to go away. I do not want to be here.”
- Ally – “Tess, calm down. We will be fine. We just have to wait for daylight and-”

Once Ally learned that Tess had been voted off, she offered to take her place, despite Kristal's warning that they would be eliminated together. As they are fixing the motorcycles, Tess proposes that she, Ally, and Hunter reunite on a vacation rather than a "cruddy reality show." Ally is happy that the show gives her a chance to prove herself to everyone, and is appalled when Hunter tells her that viewer opinion has been divided on Ally. Tess tells her that social media hurts more than it helps, but Ally is still frustrated. Tess recalls when she and Ally first met, where Ally just wanted to help people and stay positive, and tells Ally not to be someone she's not. Hunter reinforces her words, telling Ally that they both love her no matter what, and Ally thanks them. Tess encourages Ally to kick everyone's butt and win. Moments[]
- In two of Tess's fan greetings, when asked her opinion on Ally, she states she's like a sister to her.[1]
- When she's asked if she has ever been romantically interested in Ally, she says "Not really", but calls her adorable, and she mentions rooting for both Ally and Gabby.[2]
- In an Ally greeting, when she's asked to pick someone whom she'd want to win the most, she says Tess.[3]
- In another greeting, when she's asked if she and Tess ever had romantic feelings for each other, Ally teasingly asks "Why? Jealous?", but now in all seriousness she claims that she'll keep the specifics of she and Tess between them, and asks the fan what'd they think.[4]
Fanon[]
TessAlly is a very popular ship within the fandom, but which popularity doesn't rose as much as TomJake's or Jaiden's, however it already has a large following since season 2. A lot of fans ship them due to her closeness via Hunter, and considered their relationship healthier than their individual bonds with said man. Although not many are aware of their former love interests bond, those who do know are disappointed that they have remained as only friends and nothing else, and further than that, the two were separated in different teams, being HuntAlly the focus of the show. There are still shippers hoping for the pairing to become canon, as the two despite the time still have kept contact and get along well just as past season. The significant change on Tess thanks to not only Hunter, but Ally too, fueled the ship's popularity. Upon the release of episode 7's teaser trailer, TessAlly once again began to skyrocket as they have been shown holding hands after a long of time separated, and that hope grew once more into the fans.
Although it is less popular, there are shippers who have perceived them in a platonic lense, choosing to interpret their own passionate friendship as a younger sister-Older sister dynamic. Supporters of this idea strengthened with their interactions in All Stars as Tess being the more mature and emotionally intelligent one aiding Ally in her feelings of inadequacy. HuntAlly shippers tend to run with this given Tess's frequent support of their relationship even when things got rocky for them. Royal Prince's greeting caused fans to be divided with Tess confirming that she views Ally as a sister leading to those who romantically ship them disheartened and those who see it platonic wise fairly vindicated.
It's the most written ship for the two on AO3, having 10+ works created, at the same time being placed 6th amongst the popular pairings. Its common rival is HuntAlly and in rare cases HunTess, but nonetheless since it had been decreasing on attention and also interactions (after Hunter's eviction), TessAlly became the main focus outside HunTessAlly's polyamorous relationship.
